A big thank you

I know I've been a bit of a bad blogger lately....been neglecting you all....but this old crafting malarkey is inclined to take over my life and the decorating of the new cubbyhole certainly hasn't helped....why am I constantly chasing my tail and wishing for more hours in the day.....well yesterday I took off to have some me time and to meet up with my lovely bloggy bud Cass and her family....we had a fabulous time... a little spend in my local crafty shop....but the best bit a good old blether with Cass and the owner...the lovely Jacqui....and it makes you realise what is really important in life and that is having good friends and making time to have fun with them.   It was so lovely to meet up with Cass again and how nice that she took time from her holiday to come and meet me.....and am I embarrassed......she presented me with this beautiful card and this absolutely massive box of chocs.....oh dear...the waistline is going to go in every direction by the time I munch my way through all these delicious yummies.

and of course....there is no show without Punch.....some delicious treats for "The Budster"......and "will Buddy know what is in the bag" asked Louis......Cass's son.....he sure did.....he was glued to my leg the minute I walked in the door......and guess what....Mrs Dopey Mare did it again.....the little gift I had for Cass was left sitting on the kitchen table.....oh the shame.....big big thank you my lovely friend and look forward to meeting up again in October at the SECC.

I know I told you that the painting in the new cubbyhole was all done and dusted.....well "Mrs Can't Leave Well Alone" here decided to have a feature wall in a rather striking colour....yes REDCURRANT GLORY to be precise...I have painted this ruddy wall twice and would you believe it still looks a bit streaky....they look even worse in the pic than they do in real life.....so just off to get started on Coat No 3 and believe me I am now losing the will to live....who had the bright idea of moving the cubbyhole...is it too late to change my mind and stay exactly where I am.
Catch up with you all tomorrow (that is if the men in white coats haven't carted me off in a straitjacket)....for another fabulous challenge on Penny Black Saturday AND.... it's our big day at Funky Hand..the launch of our brand new challenge blog....GET FUNKY....so pop over at 9.00am and join in  the fun.

Polkadoodles Challenge...Week 11

Morning all....and it's Friday once again and time for another challenge over at Polkadoodles....the challenge this week is to

MAKE A CARD
THAT IS ALSO A GIFT

Papers & Elements from Candy Doodles CD
I have been feeling a little bit uninspired this week....crafting and decorating don't seem to mix but I so love this paper from the Garden Collection on the CD......I wanted to use it last week but my fab teamies Enfys and Ruth beat me to it......but I was determined it was getting an airing this week.....so decided to make a notelet holder and a pocket inside for notelets.....envelopes and gift tags. And the winner of this week's challenge will receive a copy of Sugar Birdies CD....woo hooo.....get those crafty fingers working and we can't wait to see what you all create. A little word of warning....I fear that the "Dopey Mare" virus is spreading fast and furious...Nikky (Mrs Freddie Foo Foo) has posted the deadline date of this challenge as Sunday 2nd August....I think it may be the 9th....so don't panic....loads of time.
Well that's it for the moment folks.....will be back later to share the news of my little jaunt yesterday to meet my lovely bloggy bud Cass and her family......and oh dear I have decided to liven up the new cubbyhole a bit......painted one wall in a rather striking colour......can you guess what it is.....and oh dear another saga......Hugs Kath xxxxxx

Sneaky Peek Thursday

Morning Folks....yes I did get some of my DT stuff finished off yesterday so of course...there is a sneaky peek but only one......and you wouldn't believe the hassle day I had yesterday......got a phone call on Monday to say that my new sideboard for the kitchen was eventually going to be delivered on Wednesday....but no time slot given......well the old dresser had to be emptied and believe me....another nightmare..loads and loads of dishes..some of which have now gone to "crockery heaven" and then the dresser moved out into the garage which is now looking like a second hand furniture shop. Then I got a call to say that delivery would be between 12....2pm....great I thought...so rescheduled my day accordingly but "The Budster" wasn't best pleased that he would have to wait until after 2pm for his lunchtime stroll.....well I am sure you can guess what I am going to say.....what time did they arrive...3.40pm.....I was so tempted to let "The Budster" loose to deal with them.
And talking of "His Nibs".....well he's getting way above his station.....we both got this lovely award from my fab teamie over at Polkadoodles.....the lovely Sue...big thank you Sue and hugs from the furry bundle...he was named as my assistant....well he's over the moon...won't ever let me forget it... but big mistake Sue...he's now let it go to his head....he's my foot warmer and OK if it makes him happy...my assistant...."always sleeping on the job" foot warmer....got to keep these men in their rightful place...worshipping at our feet.

I have a squillion and one things to be doing today but you know what....in order to keep my sanity....I am having a me day.......off to meet up with my lovely bloggy bud Cass.....a visit to my favourite crafty store....Simply Create with a coffee and a good natter thrown in.......sod the crafting...the DIY project...Mr Blogger in particular and technology in general and let's not forget.....delivery men........catch up with you all tomorrow for a brand new challenge over at Polkadoodles.

Craft...v....D.I.Y.

Morning folks.......the challenge over at Papertake Weekly this week is another fabby sketch from my lovely bloggy bud....Dawny P and this is one challenge that I don't like to miss but at the moment.....my life has been taken over by D.I.Y....but it's a nice simple sketch....piece of cake....won't take me long to whip up a card.....well how wrong was I...have been well and truly taken down by this "Dopey Mare" virus that seems to be going the rounds....forget Swine Flu....this is far more serious

Papers: Basic Grey....Wassail Collection
Image: Creata
Sentiment: Basic Grey Wassail Alphabets
Penny Black..."Holly Jolly Christmas" Clear Stamp Set
Ribbon: from my offcut box
And what went wrong this time I hear you ask......well I punched my holes for my ribbon bow at the bottom of the matt instead of the side...but all is not lost....there are no mistakes in crafting....whoooo...got away with it this time....just fitted some alphabet tiles on top...but it's definitely a worry.
And what of the cubbyhole......well the project is on budget and on schedule....painting all done and dusted....a blank canvas to work with..... 12 square yards of crafting heaven.....makes the cubbyhole look like a broom cupboard...hence the name but my next dilemma....what am I going to call this new crafty space.....now there's a thought

Now I need to go shopping for carpet tiles which if I speak nicely to hubby I am hoping he will fit on Sunday while I trip off to Ikea for my units.     I have been informed that Ikea do deliver to Aberdeen.....but hang on to your braces folks.....from Edinburgh to my postcode would be £90.......no way am I paying that.....just think how many Hero Arts and Penny Blacks I could buy for that....so it's a 5 hour round trip and the time spent in the store.....well kiss goodbye to the whole blinking day.
And talking of day.....we are off for our morning stroll and then it's time for the crafty hat again....need to get my DT stuff done for this week....oh yes.....I am like the coo's tail as usual and hopefully if the dreaded virus doesn't strike again.....there will be some sneaky peeks tomorrow......catch up with you all later.

Daring Cardmakers Challenge

Morning Folks...it's time for another challenge card and the challenge this week over at Daring Cardmakers is from the lovely Keryn.......

ON THE EDGE
"We'd love to see you making use of all sorts of border treatments; scallops, trims, pleats, or anything else which makes the edges of your papers and cards look special. You could use Border Punches, Die Cutters, Lace, Fancy Trims and that's just for starters - let your imagination live right on the edge this week - or maybe even go right over the edge!"

Scalloped Card...Craftwork Cards
My Mind's Eye..Wild Asparagus 6 x 6 Paper Pad
Hero Arts: Artistic Borders Clear Stamp Set
Martha Stewart...Doily Edge Lace Punch
Ribbon  & Brad from stash
Sentiment: Hero Arts...Share Laughter Clear Stamp Set

And have I made any progress with the new cubbyhole....well the dilemma was how am I going to get rid of this.....far too big to go in the boot of the estate car......

so armed with my safety goggles and a hammer.....I went into demolition mode...boy was it well put together but eventually it was nothing more than loads of planks of wood....and hey a great way to get rid of stress....think of Mr Blogger and you're cooking by gas....then off I went once more to the skip...just the carpet to lift now and then I'm ready to don my painting hat......catch up with you all later.

Allsorts Challenge... Week 11

Hi Folks... well here we go again.....I'm back with my proper card for the Allsorts Challenge.....fabby sketch (which I totally ignored the first time around) from my lovely bloggy bud Dawny P who just happens to be Guest Designer this week and the challenge from Kirsten is one of my all time fave colour combos

MARSHMALLOW & CHOCOLATE

And this had to be a quickie....after my faffing around first time round...so grabbed this pad of Papermania "Forever Friends" papers and did a little bit of decoupage with this cute ted adding a distressed flower.

Well that's the crafty stuff for today folks and am I off to don my painting and decorating hat.....well the answer is NO....I am still wearing my "removal man" hat and need to get shot of all this stuff first......
you wouldn't believe how many times I have been to skip over the last few days....I am now on first name terms with the guy...have a feeling I may soon be invited home to meet his Mum and then have to fit in a trip to Ikea to get some crafty storage.....and that's a round trip of 300 miles....they don't deliver in Scotland...not a happy bunny about that......so you can see where I'm heading.....this is going to be a major work in progress.......a "Rome wasn't built in a day" project and I am not the most patient person in the world....just wish I could wave my magic wand and voila......"new cubbyhole".
Well it's not going to happen if I am sitting at the computer....so ever onward....catch up with you all later.
Hugs Kath xxxxxxx

Dopey or What

Morning folks.....well here was I thinking I was getting ahead of the game...but I fear not.
The challenge over at Allsorts this week is......MARSHMALLOW & CHOCOLATE...one of my favourite colour combos and my fabby bloggy bud Dawny P is Guest Designer....so had to find time to join in this week.....but I am a little puzzled when I see Dawn's card....no sign of any chocolate....all I can see is Pink and Grey....what is going on....well it turns out Dawn had a little dopey mare moment...realised her boob and has made another card but she had me in stitches how could anyone be so silly......well believe me folks it's quite easy.
How does the saying go....people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones......off I go to make my card....brain obviously switched off after the colour combo bit....didn't register we are supposed to be following Dawn's sketch......and my card looks absolutely nothing like the sketch so I won't be entering it for the challenge but now it's made I might as well share.....and would you believe my other fabby bloggy bud who also happens to be called Dawn had a dopey moment too....it looks as though it could be catching....and if you are reading this my two lovely bloggy buds......I hope you have a jolly good laugh.....and you know what they say......it's half the battle when you know you are dopey...so don't worry...it's when you don't know...that you have a problem.

Papers: Craftwork Cards...Yummy Scrummy
Stamps: Hero Arts: Scattered Leaves Clear Stamp Set
Circles cut with Fiskars Shapecutter
Flowers: Prima & Hero Arts
Card Candy & Sentiment Oval...Craftwork Cards
Ribbon: American Crafts
So it's back to the drawing board......off to make my card for Allsorts challenge and yes I have printed off the sketch and will be following it very carefully.....back later.

My Hero Arts Story
It must be just over 10 years ago that I attended a stamping workshop basically just to keep a friend company.....and much to my surprise I loved it..... purchased a little box set of stamps on the day......came home and didn't have a clue what to do with them......in the box was a leaflet from Hero Arts with their web site....so I went online and the rest is history.    I fell in love with stamping and basically from that day onwards....well let's say I am addicted fuelled by the fabulous inspiration from the wonderful Shari Carroll and the rest of the Hero Arts Design Team.
Why do I love Hero Arts
The quality of their stamps is second to none......and that goes for their customer service too.
They just keep bringing out more and more fabulous and on trend designs and I just want them all.
They are a dedicated green company......almost all of their products are made locally and with environmentally friendly raw materials.
Why do I want to say thank you to Hero Arts
Without Hero Arts....I may never have got involved in this wonderful addiction and met so many lovely crafters and I would like to say a big thank you to Hero Arts for all their fabulous products I have accumulated over the years...for all the inspiration and last but not least for introducing me to all the lovely girls on the Hero Arts Flickr Group.....they are just the best......super friendly.....great fun and always willing to help the newbies......so if you want to join in the "I Love Hero Arts Blog Hopping Frenzy"    click  HERE.

Can I also say a big thank you to all those lovely bloggy buds who left me suggestions about the old computer problems....I already have Firefox but it is not without its problems too.....takes an age to upload pics....so I am switching back and forth when I need to...the proverbial pain in the butt...and I think Dawn hit the nail on the head....Mr Blogger obviously can't keep up with all the blogs on the go now.....are we heading for meltdown...oh I hope not....how would I live without all my bloggy buddies......catch up with you all tomorrow for another challenge on Polkadoodles.

woof...woof....I got a parcel

Hi all my lovely bloggy fans...it's your favourite blogging dog here...yes "The Budster" and I am so excited...yesterday morning the door bell rang and here was the postie with parcels.."oh yeah I thought.... whatever....more stuff for the cubbyhole"..... but no....there is one for me....now who could this be from

wow check out that fandabbidosie card and even better some lush doggy treats

Stephanne I luvs you loads and am your friend for life....big doggy hugs and kisses xxxxxx

And there's more in the box......and these are for my Mum.....I know she is happy because she is ooohing and aaaahing.....she loves her Prima flowers and chocolate....well you've hit the jackpot there Stephanne ..she is a real chocaholic......in liquid or in solid form....and she is calling...."say a big thank you to Stephanne from me".
But there's more.....to let you understand it's either a feast or a famine here.....either no parcels or heaps and my Mum is so excited......ripping the next one open to get at probably more of this crafty stuff.....well is it any wonder we are having to move to bigger premises.....and this one from the USA too......apparently some stuff from Hero Arts....whoever they are....

The Pink Elephant Challenge # 24

Hi Folks.....I'm back with a challenge card and yes it's a fairly quick and simple one. The challenge this week on "The Pink Elephant" is

ANIMALS
Blue Vellum embossed with Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Folder
Stickers: Creata
Alphabet: Doodlebug Cardstock Stickers
Well I did warn you it was simple and I hope that "animal singular counts"......I am not normally a "sticker" girl but hey when time is short and there is lots to do....the conviction goes right out of the window.......had a busy morning.....yes more clearing out and have just got back from walking "The Budster".....wow and it's hot.....he is already flat out on the sofa and I am about to join him......have a quick cuppa first and then I think forty winks is in order. And speak of the devil.....he has booked his slot on the computer tomorrow morning....I think he has some thank you's to say and goodness knows what else......catch up with you all later from your very weary bloggy bud.
Hugs Kath xxxx

Relocation....relocation...relocation

Morning folks......I won't keep you is suspense any longer.....yes it's true the cubbyhole is relocating to the dining room...and it was hubby's idea...makes sense really...we never use it and it would give me lots more space and it gets lots of light....OK I can see the logic behind it but I am still a bit betwixt and between...I love my little cubbyhole....have become quite attached and I can watch my little birdie friends just outside while I craft away....my little haven of peace and tranquility where I can shut out the world and play.
But the downside is the dining room has to be cleared first and boy oh boy you wouldn't believe the stuff I have collected over the years....the why on earth did I ever buy that stuff feeling.....all the souvenirs from holidays....bags and bags of material scraps....wool....LP's from the year dot....you name it I've got it.   Made a start yesterday and was I ruthless...a real declutter session....lots of bags taken to the skip...but I now have loads of stuff to take to the Car Boot Sale and the proceeds...if there are any.....that is if anybody wants to buy my old tat.....will be going to the Royal Marsden Cancer Campaign.
I received an e-mail from Michele asking me to help spread the word about the Craft Against Cancer raffle she is organizing on behalf of the Royal Marsden Cancer campaign.....click HERE to find out more.....
The cure rate for childhood cancers is only 75% but wouldn’t it be brilliant if it was 100%?... so come on all you crafters out there....let's spread the word and do anything we can to help the Royal Marsden achieve their goal.
Once the clear out is finished....it will be on to the decorating and then hubby can begin building me some units and then.....oh dear....the bit I am absolutely dreading the moving of all the crafty stash...maybe need to have a major declutter in that department too.....but will keep you posted on how it is all coming along or not as the case may be.
And I must apologise if I haven't visited you recently....although my computer seems to be working OK again....and that is the strangest thing...it went from being on its last legs to young and sprightly again....maybe it heard me saying it was ready for the bin...but just when I think I am back in the swing.....what is all this "Internet Explorer cannot open this website.....operation aborted" nonsense or when I try to leave a comment....."could not be processed....try again"....I just gave up last night and went off to bed early with a good book.   I've definitely learned my lesson after losing all my contacts' addresses and telephone numbers.....it's pen and paper for me from now....I knew that M&S address book I got a few Christmases ago would come in handy and this sums it up.....

Well time for our morning stroll....it's a gorgeous morning after a rather stormy and wet night.....then back to do a bit more clearing out.....maybe next week the decorating can begin.....yes I will be donning my painting and decorating hat once more and "The Budster" has just given out a big sigh.....yes no doubt he will be splattered in paint.....but not half as much as his Mum.....will be back later with a challenge card......Hugs Kath xxxxxx

Morning Folks.....well my resolution about putting the gorgeous My Mind's Eye stuff away didn't quite go according to plan....I just had to have one more play....and this one is just for fun

Buttons: Basic Grey
Sentiment: Alphas Download from Pink Petticoat
Corner Rounder Punch
Twine and fibres from my stash
And I am being spoiled rotten this week....another award from the lovely Sonia...thank you so much it was so sweet of you......but to be realistic Sonia if you could see me first thing in the morning with my bird's nest hair and just got up face.....well no way would you have considered giving me this.....but joking aside I am supposed to pass this one on to 10 other folks but hey you know me how could I choose only 10 from all the beautiful bloggers out there....so I am awarding this one to all my beautiful followers....with a big bloggy hug from "The Budster" and me.
Ok playtime is over and the new goodies are being stashed away.....it's on with the DT stuff.....it's going to be a work...work...work....kinda week because there are big changes afoot at Chez Kath......oh yes the cubbyhole is on the move......what have I gotten myself into.....will be back later to tell all.
