Allsorts Challenge # 16

Morning folks and hope you are all enjoying your Bank Holiday weekend...not sure if it is a Bank Holiday in Scotland but anyways...the cubbyhole is open for business so it's back to work for me...holiday or no holiday.
The challenge this week on Allsorts is from my fellow NE Scotland lovely bloggy bud....Amanda and is

NO RUBBER
no stamped images/sentiments allowed
now excuse me....for someone who has a bit of a "rubber fetish"
and by that I mean "rubber stamp fetish"....just in case your imagination is running riot....
this could have been a bit of a disaster...but it worked out OK
as I also have a "gorgeous paper" fetish

Papers: MME.....Merry Days of Christmas
Sentiment: American Crafts Foam Thickers
Ribbon & Gems from stash
Ranger..Inkssentials White Opaque Pen
Generous Sprinkling of the old Glamour Dust
And I'm sure I've read all the instructions carefully this week.......please don't tell me there was a sketch and I missed it......off for our morning stroll and then it's back to work for me......making a little album for Brodie for his first day at school photos....but will be back tomorrow with a brand new challenge over at GET FUNKY.

A little Give-Away

THE GIVE-AWAY IS NOW CLOSED...any comments left after this time will not be entered in the draw.
Morning folks and yes the routine seems to be back to normal after my rather disastrous day on Friday and what have I been doing over the weekend....well to be honest... diddly squat.....had a real lazy day on Saturday and hey isn't LAZITIS infectious.....but a girl deserves a weekend off occasionally.....because it will be back to the grind tomorrow...oh yes no Bank Holiday day off for me......BUT it gave me a chance to have a good old sort out of my Christmas stamps...and boy oh boy....I found Christmas stamps that I never knew I had....how awful is that.....bought in a mad moment of "oh gotta have that" and never never inked.....shame on me.
So it's time for a little GIVE-AWAY..I have been very lucky recently to have received loads of Christmas stamps for magazine work and I loved working with them....but after burning the midnight oil and shedding lots of blood sweat and tears to meet the deadlines....I know that they will probably just be filed away and forgotten....so it's time to share and send them on their way to loving homes where they will be inked and used.....there are 5 sets of these gorgeous Woodware Clear Magic Stamp Sets recently released for Christmas
so all you have to do is leave a comment here if you would like to receive a little parcel of Christmas Cheer.......this will remain open until Sunday 6th September when I will choose 5 folks at random...if you wish to pop a link to your blog that is entirely up to you....the only stipulation is that you must have an active crafting blog.....none of those folks who just trawl the internet for freebies will be entered in the draw......and once this give-away is done and dusted....I will post the NEW CUBBYHOLE BLOG CANDY.....yes at long last. Well need to get those crafty fingers back in action for tomorrow....so off to have a little play and yes maybe some challenge cards to show tomorrow.....see you all later.

It's Gonna Be One of those Days

It's definitely gonna be one of those days and how do I know......well grab yourselves a comfy sofa and a cuppa and I will explain.......woke up this morning at my usual 6.00am.....with a hurricane blowing outside...."The Budster" and I are all comfy cosy so decided to have another half an hour shut eye....BIG MISTAKEA TO MAKEA......my eyes finally snapped wide open at 8.53......oh shock horror.....3 hours lost out of the working day. Dived into the shower to try and wake myself up and tame the bird's nest look that any self respecting bird wouldn't be seen dead in....grabbed a quick cuppa and discovered that I hadn't scheduled my post for Polkadoodles.....oops....sorry Nikky...and then off for our morning stroll.....this is a top priority because......
1. A stir crazy dog is no fun
2. This is my "planning the day ahead" time....while "His Nibs" rips around with the rabbits and any other wildlife he can find.....but.....minutes into the walk....shock horror I am wearing one of those socks that doesn't want to stay on your foot....I'm sure you have come across his cousin.....slowly creeps down your heel... so for the next hour or so I am stopping every 25 yards to pull it up again and let me tell you folks this would send lesser mortals over the edge.
So what has to be done today.....and I fear mega prioritisation is needed here......

VACUUM AND DUST.......definitely not.....just have to fight my way through the dog hairs for one more day
FOOD SHOPPING.....probably not.......but what exciting culinary concoction can I conjure up with 3 eggs...1 tomato......mushrooms...a pathetic looking spring onion and some potatoes whose eyes are so far out on stalks they look like martians.
GET FUNKY DT STUFF....priority......or I run the risk of having my legs slapped big time.
GUEST DT CARD......coming up soon.....NO WAY JOSE....it involves a sketch and well need I say any more...will save that one for a more normal kinda day.
So what am I going to be doing today....well I don't have a clue.....I feel as though my head is on backwards...

will I just head back to bed.....snuggle up under the duvet and pretend today never happened.....
head off to the M&S sale.....no it's too wet...windy and cold or......
and this is the best idea I've had all day.....make myself a cuppa...snuggle up on the sofa with "His Deliciousness" and tidy out my mega supply of Christmas stamps....hey there may be some goodies to give away and on the subject of goodies...a little sneaky peek of some more yummy stuff I have added to the CUBBYHOLE BLOG CANDY......

lots of my favourite things.....gorgeous bling....yummy yummy snowflakes...cute Christmas stamps and fabulous fabulous irridescent glitter......will be posting the CANDY very soon.....I promise.
Catch up with you all tomorrow......Big Hugs Kath xxxxxxx

Polkadoodles Challenge # 15

Morning Folks.....it's Friday once again and that means it's time for another fabby challenge over at Polkadoodles.....this week we have a sketch for you from Nikky and the DT were asked to use the fabulous Candy Doodles CD.  It's been a busy busy week for me knee deep in everything Christmas so it was nice to get back to normal stuff again.....I've been seeing snowflakes...reindeer and the big fat guy in the red suit in my sleep and it's still August......if only just.

Papers...Butterflies and Flower all from Candy Doodles CD
Bling from my gem vault
Sentiment: American Craft Foam Thickers
Circles cut with Cricut....George and Basic Shapes
my favourite black and white combo with just a hint of blue and aren't those butterflies stunning.
Butterflies.....bling and those gorgeous tattered flowers.....a real quick and easy card to make......look forward to see what you all come up with this week.   Will catch up with you all tomorrow for another faberoonie challenge from Penny Black Saturday...and are you in for a treat.....happy crafting everyone.

Sneaky Peek Thursday

Morning folks....yes it's Thursday...it's a gorgeous sunny morning and the DT stuff is almost done and dusted....the cubbyhole queen is in a good mood and yes there are a couple of sneaky peeks today.....

but I have a bit of a confession to make.....I have been chasing my tail as usual on my DT stuff...needed to get them done and dusted yesterday so I could get onto the next crafty project....and do you know what.....they were real quickie cards and I love both of them.....too much time to think about it and I start faffing around and end up with a mess....so maybe that's the secret....leave everything to the last minute and work right down to the wire.
I know that I have been neglecting all my lovely bloggy buds lately but hope to be able to catch up with you all over the weekend.....blimey there are never enough hours in the day and doesn't time fly when you are having fun...no sooner out of bed and before you know it's time to get back in....and after nights of burning the midnight oil....I took myself off to bed early early last night and snuggled down with my furry bundle of foot warmer gorgeousness and a good book....the cold dark wintry nights will soon be here and my idea of heaven is to have a nice hot shower...snuggle down with my book...the doggy hot water bottle at my tootsies and listen to the wind howling outside... the snow driving against the window.....and "The Budster" doing his "snore like a train" impression and then it will be sweet dreams knowing that I won't even have to venture out of the house in the morning to get to work in the cubbyhole....oh luxury.
Well enough gabbing from me it's time to take "His Nibs" for his morning stroll and what's it gonna be today....dry dog or wet dog....who knows...what's with the weather at the moment..one minute it's blue sky and sun and the next the heavens have opened....but it is definitely chillier in the mornings....that autumn feeling in the air.....catch up with you all tomorrow for another fabulous challenge over at Polkadoodles.....in the meantime happy crafting.

Papertake Weekly Challenge ..Sketch 22

Morning folks......yesterday was a mega crafty work day but all work and no play is no fun at all....so decided in the evening to have a little play and make a challenge card....a real quickie but I rather like it.
The challenge this week on Papertake Weekly is another fab sketch from my lovely bloggy bud Dawny P and believe me....I was ultra careful this time....can't afford any more cock up's ....pay attention and follow the sketch...I think I am becoming a little paranoid.
And wooo.hooo...they have a very very special guest this week....the mega talented and my fellow Distress Ink addict and lovely bloggy bud...the one and only .....Kim P

and would you believe.....yes there is a little slip-up....missed out that little bow thingy at the bottom left hand corner.....well I'm sure Miss Dawny and her fabulous DT will forgive me.....she is not immune from the dopey mare virus either...and what's one little itty bitty mistake between buddies.

Papers & Chipboard: DCVW "The Green Stack"
Twine from stash
Sentiment: My Little Shoe Box..Mini Alphabets....Blackberry
Flower: K & Co Embellishment
Well that's it for today folks.....ever onward as they say.....on to the next thing to be ticked off the long long list of crafty stuff to be done....catch up with you all later.......Hugs Kath xxxxxxxx

Happy Birthday Cass

Happy Belated Birthday Wishes to my lovely sweet bloggy bud.....Cass.....now I knew it was this week but didn't know which day so the card was posted off late on Monday and then shock horror I discovered it was yesterday.....fingers crossed that the Royal Mail have got their fingers out and it will be arriving today....only 2 days late.....oops.
And to celebrate Cass has a fabilicious blog candy up for grabs........

which will remain open until 8th September.......lots of yummy stuff in there.
I met up with Cass and her lovely family when they were on holiday in my neck of the woods...they travelled down to my favourite crafty shop at Alford.....we had a little spend....of course.....a lot of chat and a coffee....it was lovely to see her again and can't wait to meet up again when I am working at the SECC in October.
Hope you enjoyed your special day my lovely friend and that there were lots of lovely pressies.....crafty or otherwise.  Well it's all hands on deck.....still a mountain of stuff to get done before the weekend.... off to write up my bumph to go off with the magazine stuff....oh how I hate this bit.....believe me the easy bit is making the cards......the difficult bit is explaining how they were made....and don't know about you but I can't believe we are fast approaching September...scary isn't it......just seems like yesterday I was knee deep in Christmas Card stuff for last year.
And I haven't forgotten about the blog candy for my 150,000 hits.....yikes we are now over 160,000...there surely can't be that many folk with nothing better to do than listen to an old dopey mare gabbing on about this..that and the other.....am still gathering stuff and waiting for some fabby stamps to arrive...so will be posting very soon.

Allsorts Challenge 15.....Again

Well here we go again.....second attempt at the Allsorts Challenge.....now I printed off the fabulous sketch from  my lovely bloggy bud  Jules and wrote across it tearing.....so hopefully this time I have got it right.....even added in a little inking and doodling just to be on the safe side.....

Papers: MME...Merry Days of Christmas
Snowflake: Quickutz
Button..Brads and Twine from stash
Sentiment: Hero Arts....Let It Snow Clear Stamp Set
Well the crafty conveyor belt awaits......mag stuff to finish and get off in the post.......my DT stuff to do for this week and are you remembering this month's challenge over at Get Funky will close on 31st August so   if you haven't joined the fun yet....you need to get your skates on...so toodle oo....for now.....Hugs Kath xxxxxx

Born under a Gooseberry Bush !!!!

Morning folks....let me start by asking you a question...."Do I look like I was born under a Gooseberry Bush"? maybe it's better if you don't answer that one but I had to smile this morning when I opened my Inbox....and I'm sure I'm not the only one who gets these stupid e-mails......

1.   You have won 10 million dollars ....in some fabulous US lottery type thing........all I have to do is send them my bank account details and they will have my winnings deposited with two shakes of a coo's tail.......yeah right...join the queue....I have already won billions.... all sitting in the mystery accounts I hold with every bank and building society on the planet....all deactivated until I resubmit my security details.
2.  Instant Face Lift......you are looking old.......well how rude....you don't even know me you cheeky blighter ..I know I am old...I know I probably look old and yes I would probably benefit from an instant face lift....well you certainly know how to cheer a girl up and not exactly the best marketing statement in the world....so thanks but no thanks.
3.  And the best one of all.......Hot Singles Available in your Area.....hot single what... I am thinking...intrigued by this one....so read a little more.....hey there may be life in the old girl yet....apparently there are hundreds of hot single men in my area just waiting for me to give them a call....well make up your mind....one minute I am looking old and need a facelift and the next...I'm hot stuff.....gimme a break...I'm confused enough as it is.....but I have a big problem......now that I am a millionairess....and can afford the Instant Facelift....do they want me for my money or my body.....sadly I will never know because if was DELETE...DELETE...DELETE....  Now you probably think I am waffling because I have nothing to share today.....I have..in fact...redone my Allsorts Challenge card just haven't got a pic yet.....a rather impatient four legged gentleman is pushing at my elbow as I type....I think he wants to go for a stroll....so catch up with you all when we get back......Hugs Kath xxxxxxx

Allsorts Challenge..Week 15...maybe not

Morning folks and yes I am back to my normal self...well as normal as I get....managed to hold on to my chicken dinner so assuming that I have kissed goodbye to the old tummy upset and am raring to go....need to be...a busy busy week ahead .....but I have actually managed a challenge card....or thought I had.
The challenge this week on Allsorts is from my lovely bloggy bud Jules and you are not going to believe this....shock horror.....another case of rushing in where angels fear to tread.   Jules has given us a fabulous sketch to work from this week but she also wants to see a bit of tearing.....now you know me....I love to rip it up with a bit of tearing and distressing so off I went to the cubbyhole and got ripping......and yes I'm sure you can guess what happens next......I completely forgot about the sketch.....and I can hear Dawny P laughing her head off in the background....this is becoming a bit of a worry....do you think the old gal is losing the plot or worse still her marbles....and if you have been over to check out the challenge.....the instructions are in the biggest red font ever.....how could I have messed it up.
Now obviously I can't enter the card for the challenge but by gum....I took time out from a mag project to make it.....so you are going to look at it whether you like it or not.....I did think that I might be able to rejig it.... but even I....a many times Olympic Gold Medal Re-Jigger would have my work cut out to make it even faintly resemble the sketch.......can you tell I am a bit miffed at myself.....in fact.....furious would be a better word.
Papers: MME....Merry Days of Christmas
Image: Penny Black...Happy and Cool
Sentiment: Hero Arts.....Create Your Own Snowman
Snowflake Image: Woodware...Dashing Reindeer
Snowflake: no idea...found a big box of them when I was tidying out
the old cubbyhole
Buttons & Twine from stash
lots of ripping and tearing...a bit of inking and doodling all finished off with a generous helping of the old Glamour Dust and apologies to my cute little snowfella for totally cocking up his debut appearance....but I may have an excuse apart from the dopey old mare thing.....I am in love.....totally head over heels...completely  smitten with these gorgeous.... gorgeous...gorgeous papers from SEI.....called Winter Song.......and didn't I say that the colour combo this year is going to be DUCK EGG BLUE and RED....do keep an eye out for some cards featuring these beauties coming soon.....ssshhh....it's a secret.
and oh my giddy aunt....who in their right mind left a cup of coffee right next to my precious papers...off to sort that idiot out and perhaps look for my marbles at the same time......if I get time....I will redo my Allsorts Challenge card.....sorry Jules.  In the meantime have a great day everyone....me I would just settle for a "everything going according to plan" kind of a day....but that's unlikely to happen......catch up with you all later.
Big Hugs Kath xxxxxxx

Shock Horror......

Hi Everybody.....yes shock horror....no post from me today.....well without going into too much detail....had a bit of a rough night....spent most of it talking to "hughie"....my Scottish mates will know who "hughie" is and for the rest of you....well I had a bit of a tummy bug....feeling much better now and have even managed to eat a delish chicken and all the trimmings dinner.....my Mum always said I had the constitution of a horse.
And I must say a big thank you to my Fiskars Crafty Buddy....Lorraine who has very kindly given me this award...I appreciate it very much.
and yes I am looking forward to us demo-ing together at the SECC in October....we will have a blast and do Fiskars really know what they are taking on and Dave if you are reading this....I promise to be super quiet at breakfast....but can't guarantee for the rest of the day.
And also to the lovely Jane (sorry Jane I got confused and called you Wendy...now I am not as daft as you think....Jane's blog is Whimsical Wendy...easy mistake to make...so ignore all the titterers in the background...a big thank you for this little beauty and your very kind comments.
Well that's all for tonight folks....off to do a bit of blog hopping....catch up with all my bloggy buds and Penny Black lovers....back tomorrow with yes.....can you believe it....a challenge card.....Hugs Kath xxxxxx

Penny Black Saturday Challenge...Week 63

Morning folks... yes it's Saturday and the sun has got his hat on in Bonnie Scotland.....and it's time for another challenge from Penny Black Saturday.
Once again a fabulous response to last week's colour combo challenge and lots and lots of gorgeous cards for me to drool over....you are such a talented bunch of Penny Black lovers......so let's see what you can come up with for this week's challenge which is........

STITCHING
machine stitching...hand stitching or a bit of faux stitching
whatever takes your fancy
Papers: MME....Merry Days of Christmas
Image: Penny Black "Whispers"
Papermania Pink Pearls
Anchor Sewing Thread
Flowers: Prima
I decided in my wisdom to try and do a satin type stitch on my flowers and boy did it take an absolute age.....but coffee at hand....I sat myself down in my comfy chair in the cubbyhole...."The Budster" fast asleep at my feet after his lunchtime walk and got to work and found it very relaxing albeit a bit time consuming....and little bit of faux stitching to finish off.....really must have a go at the old machine stitching...but by the time I have looked out the machine....and tried in vain to get the needle threaded....I have given up the will to live.
And for all you Penny Black addicts....take a look at the new members of the Penny Black family at Chez Kath....arrived in the post yesterday morning all the way from the lovely Dick at PB Stamps in the US....and aren't they just the cutest little dudes......
I'm sure they will be making an appearance on some cards real soon and what's with the clear nail polish.....a little tip to stop the wood on the stamping side of your rubber stamps getting marked with ink......apply 2 coats to the wood around the rubber...please don't get it on the rubber and to remove the coating used to protect the rubber when the stamps are made...press sellotape several times over the image....means you get a much clearer impression first time.
And we have another great prize for one lucky winner this week from our lovely teamie....Tracie
Penny Black Stickeroos......Unfolding
So Cute
So all you have to do is get your Penny Blacks looked out...ink pads at the ready and get stamping and stitching.....look forward to seeing what you all come up with this week....as per usual....I'm sure I will be in for a real treat.....happy crafting everyone......Hugs Kath xxxxxxx

Polkadoodles Challenge #14

Morning folks.....gee whizz it's Friday again....where did the week go and time for another challenge over at Polkadoodles.....the challenge this week is another fabby sketch from Nikky.... now I thought I would be a bit smart this week and boy did it backfire on me. I'm afraid that my inspiration seems to have done a runner and after watching Nikky demoing on Create and Craft on Monday making a fabulous tattered distressed flower......sorted I thought.....will have a go at that.....so popped my Candy Doodles CD in the drawer and am all set to print off some papers....lo and behold the old printer window appears...."low on ink".....well it's been saying that for a couple of weeks but no.....it was right and I was wrong....mega low on ink......only got 2 papers and my tattered flowers printed off......and then nothing.....wait a minute I need a third paper......

well had to improvise a little and doodle a meshy square type of thingy for my third element.....so if you are the proud owner of the Candy Doodles CD.....please don't call Nikky up and say that you can't find it....because it ain't there....and don't you just love this tattered flower and so easy to make. My first thought was this is going to be an absolute disaster.....but you know what.....I rather like it....."a happy accident" perhaps.
A big thank you to all those who left me a lovely comment on my appearance in this month's Simply Cards & Papercraft.....haven't seen it yet.....my copy didn't arrive yesterday but a lovely surprise as it wasn't due to appear until Issue 64.
Now I am not going to tempt fate just in case the old BT gremlins are listening....but my new H-M- ...H-B thingy seems to be working ... here's hoping my connection troubles are a thing of the past....just Mr Blogger to do battle with now. Off for our morning stroll and then a quick dash to replenish the old printer juice and back to get my Penny Black Saturday DT card made for this week....oh I know.....skidding in by the seat of pants again.....well I need a little excitement in my life.....catch up with you all tomorrow for another fabulous challenge from Penny Black Saturday.....Hugs Kath xxxxxxxx

Papertake Weekly Challenge

Morning folks and congratulations are in order.....Papertake Weekly are celebrating their 100th challenge this week....well done to their fabulous Design Team....almost 2 years and still going strong....so there was no way I was missing out on this one....seeing as I didn't get round to doing a card for last week and the challenge this week is.....

TAKE YOUR PICK
choose any theme from the last 99 challenges
well I had to go with one of my fabby bloggy bud's sketches
the one and only Dawny P
Sketch 7 - January 2009
And I am still in Christmas mode.....so couldn't resist working with these fabulous new papers from My Mind's Eye and my new Christmas stamp sets from Hero Arts

Papers: My Mind's Eye.......Merry Days of Christmas
Images: Hero Arts.....Make your Own Clear Stamp Set
Let It Snow Clear Stamp Set
Tim Holtz Distress Inks: Weathered Wood..Faded Jeans & Brushed Corduroy
a good old sprinkling of the old GD
Snowflakes......Quickutz
Gems: Papermania Shimmer Dots
What a palaver getting a half decent pic of this one.....what is it about blue.....tried outside...inside and it was way too blue.....they say the camera doesn't lie.....well don't agree because this paper is such a gorgeous soft duck egg blue and even after a bit of playing around with the photo editing thingy....it still looks a bit turquoise.....first we complained about the bright sunshine.....well now it has gone to the other end of the weather spectrum...dark dreary days....never a happy medium....but I think this may be my colour combo for this year's Christmas cards.....do love Red and Blue together.
And before I forget it's time for this week's Sneaky Peek......

and another tasty peek.....the second item going into the blog candy

this super cute little handbag
chocca full of Penny Black Images.....some of the brand new Christmas releases too.
Well ever onward as they say.....need to catch up on some household chores today and do a bit of food shopping....but will catch up with you all tomorrow for another fab challenge from Polkadoodles and let me tell you my DT card almost ended up a total disaster.....but turned out to be a "happy accident".....and oh yes I will be coming clean and sharing the tale of woe......toodle oo for now.
Hugs Kath xxxxxx
