Penny Black Saturday Challenge...Week 73

Morning folks and yes it's Saturday and tonight is Halloween.....lots of spooky goings on...things going bump in the night...witches and warlocks casting their magic spells and all those little trick and treaters making their rounds.....loved all your spooky cards for last week's Halloween challenge.....dripping with loads of orange and black....but I think we are all Halloween-ed out.... ready for a bit of a change and....you could say that we have gone to the other extreme of the colour spectrum....the challenge this week from
Penny Black Saturday is.......

WHITE ON WHITE
everything on your entry must be WHITE apart from the colouring on your image

no papers this time....just plain old linen cardstock
run through the cuttlebug and given a distressed edge to give a bit of dimension
and a bit of the old ripping and tearing
Image: Penny Black...Christmas Critters
Snowflake: Cuttlebug Die
Sentiment: Craftwork Cards.....Oval Sentiments
Craftwork Cards...Card Candy...Snowballs
Button & Thread from stash
all finished off with a good old dusting of Glamour Dust

I am really beginning to get a bit paranoid about this old dopey mare virus......had a real to do making the card for this challenge....I was a bit apprehensive about White on White to start off but as I layered it up....it was beginning to grow on me......card finished ....all set to take a pic...oh blimey.... shock horror....what are you thinking of girl...the image is definitely not PENNY BLACK.. it's HERO ARTS.....so it was start all over again.    I couldn't make it up if I tried..... it's been definitely one of those weeks but not the end of the world....two cards for the price of one for the old Christmas box.     I will share the first card later...in fact....I think I may be able to enter it for another challenge and do you know what.... I have fallen heads over heels with this WHITE ON WHITE look....just my style of card.....who needs patterned paper.....but I must admit I had to constantly stop myself from doing my usual inky edges.......may just make another with inky edges and see what you think.
We have another fabulous prize this week for one lucky winner
generously donated by Dick at PB Stamps
15% discount voucher to spend in their online shop

or should I say "Penny Black Heaven"

I'm sure I am in for a real treat this week......can't wait to see what you all create and will be popping over for a nosey...in the meantime happy crafting....and would you believe I am off to make Brodie's birthday card for tomorrow...yes cutting it a bit fine....catch up with you all tomorrow for a brand new challenge with the GET FUNKY GANG

well honestly folks....with my dopey mare affliction....what were the chances of me getting everything right....yes you are spot on....NONE WHAT SO EVER
if you are observant...you will see that I used 5 brads instead of 3 well....3 didn't look right and anyway who's counting

I just couldn't resist using this cool little dude....coloured him with Distress Ink pads and paper pieced his red breast.....he is now a real ROCKIN' ROBIN.
Can't wait to see what you all come up with this week and catch up with you all tomorrow for a CRACKIN' challenge over at Penny Black Saturday.

Papertake Weekly Challenge...Sketch 26

Morning folks....yes it's Monday morning.... the start of another working week and I know a bit of a thought...the hassle of the commute to work etc...... I am so lucky that I work from home and if I choose to...don't even need to get dressed.....while hubby and "The Budster" went off on their morning stroll yesterday.....I played around in the cubbyhole in my tatty old towelling dressing gown...hair like a bird's nest but happy as larry....and managed to do another challenge card.
The challenge this week from Papertake Weekly is another fabby sketch from my lovely crafty bud Dawny P and I couldn't resist playing some more with these gorgeous MME papers that I got from my lovely Fiskars buddy Ann at the SECC and one of my new stamp sets....from Inkadinkado...and don't you just love that name....the way it trips off the tongue.

Papers: MME Signature Christmas
Image: Inkadinkado....Holiday Sentiments
Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pads...Brushed Corduroy...Peeled Paint
Craftwork Cards: Oval Sentiments
Ribbon: American Crafts
Tim Holtz Distress Stickles....Antique Linen

Well folks....that's all from me today...off to get a few more challenge cards done and I think the old cubbyhole needs a bit of a tidy up after my crafty fest yesterday.....catch up with you all tomorrow.

Tonight's the Night

Hi Everyone.....in the words of the song.....TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT.....hopefully that the twins are sent packing.....if not....I will be ready to take up holy orders and spend the rest of my life as a crafting NUN.
I can hardly bear to watch and if it wasn't that I would miss the mega serious eye candy going by the name of Mr Buble......I would probably take myself off to bed early and pray that reason prevails.
PLEASE....PLEASE....PLEASE
and if my wish isn't granted...well who knows the mood I will be in tomorrow.

Edited to add:  High on a hill stood a lonely goatherd....lay odl lay odl lay hee hoo

TIME TO EAT THE DOG

Morning folks.....it's your furry bundle of golden deliciousness and believe me I am a great deal furrier than usual...WHY because something I saw in yesterday's newspaper has well and truly got my hackles up...I think you had better put the kettle on and take a seat....you are going to be SHOCKEROONIED ......
I think this whole world is going to POT...you humans are making a real mess of things and is it any surprise when then are folks like this roaming around. Robert and Brenda Yale have apparently found a solution to the world's environmental problems and they tell all in a new book "Time to Eat the Dog...The Real Guide to Sustainable Living" claiming that folks in Britain should be discouraged from owing pets because and wait for it folks....
we are a threat to the environment.  According to these two numpties who obviously have nothing better to do with their lives...owning a dog is having the same impact on the environment as driving 6,000 miles in a gas guzzling 4 x 4. They go on to estimate my carbon paw print in terms of the amount of land needed to grow food to feed me and even suggest...cover your ears my canine buddies...that my owners would be advised to eat me and get a more environmentally friendly pet like a goldfish. WELL WE SHALL SEE ABOUT THAT.  Apparently it's all about choices...changing your lightbulbs...using a cloth bag when you go food shopping and EATING YOUR DOG and all said without a by your leave...let me tell you mateys there is a BIG BIG difference between changing a lightbulb so the planet can survive for another billion years and MURDERING YOUR BEST FRIEND but I have been doing a little bit of research here and may have stumbled on a solution to save the world and if I was you folks...I would be very very worried.
The average human in the developed world needs 6 hectares of land to feed him throughout his lifetime compared with 0.36 hectares for a dog or cat...so what do you bet some bright spark in some obscure Government Department will eventually work it out...keep all the dogs and cats and get rid of the humans and I would suggest that they start with Mr and Mrs Vale.
The world's gone completely nuts...wouldn't you agree and my Mum almost blew a gasket when she read it....so it would seem that I am not in any imminent danger of being put on the menu and the only pawprint she is interested in are the mucky ones I sometimes leave on the duvet when I duck upstairs for a snooze.
I bet these nutty green wellie hippie drop outs never stop to think of the love and joy such furry delicious boys as myself bring to millions of families across the world ...the companionship to lonely vulnerable old folks...it's OK Mum I wasn't referring to you...so I am calling on all the dogs and cats of the world to stand up and be counted...we are not going down without a fight...I'm off to have a snooze but I will definitely be keeping one eye open in case those nutters come to call and a little bit of advice...if you agree with these two numpties...don't bother to e-mail me...I might just be tempted to see how good you are going to taste.
Big Hugs BUDDY XXXXX

Daring Cardmakers Challenge

Morning folks....the old body is now fully recovered from my day of excitement at the SECC and hey it's great to have that extra hour to play with.....no I didn't spend it tucked up under the duvet....I am up and working in the cubbyhole would you believe in my comfy cosy dressing gown....with 2 non craft days this week...it's back to crafting with a vengeance and on with some challenges...
The challenge this week over at Daring Cardmakers has been set by the lovely Kathy and is.......

HALLOWEEN
it's trick and treat time.....pumpkin lanterns...dark spooky nights when witches are about
I must confess that in the past I never bothered to make Halloween cards
but hey I have thoroughly enjoyed making them in the last few weeks for my Design Team challenges
and I love this colour combo of bright orange....spooky purple and black and isn't this just the cutest witchy cat you ever did see.

I did have a bit of a dilemma....because I don't own any Penny Black Halloween stamps but my lovely teamies on PBS came to my rescue and before I knew the postie was knocking on the door with yummy parcels of images from Nat....Debbie and Carole who also included gorgeous Halloween charms and ribbons.....big thank you girls for saving my skin once again

Still alive...but only just

Hi Folks.....well I did survive my day at the SECC but only just.....arrived home about 9pm absolutely shattered....fell into bed at 10pm and was asleep within a nanosecond and would you believe didn't stir until 8am this morning so why does the old body feel as though it has been run over by a train and then squeezed through a mangle and MY FEET.....oh my poor feet feel as though they walked all the way home from Glasgow.....but did I just have the best time.....a wonderful day of fun and laughter with the nicest buddies...and the weather was great too.....sunny and bright and NO RAIN.
I arrived just before 11.00am and was only minutes into the hall when who should I bump into but my lovely crafty buds.....Lorraine and Gayle....we blethered and blethered and then the panic set in....it was time to meet up with the other lovelies for lunch and we hadn't yet made a purchase.    To be honest I was a tad disappointed in the show this year....lots of regular retailers were missing so my crafty purchases were a little limited but hey I did find a real treasure trove of all things delish.....packed with Tim Holtz goodies SNAZZYS....so if you are going to the show and are a fan of the KING....make a beeline for their stand E03.  I have to make apologies for the crappo pics....oh yes the weather here is just the same....DARK DISMAL AND RAINING.

Lots of Bazzill and some scrummy papers....Grunge Paper....Ink Tool and spare sponges....Distress Ink Pad...Mini Masks...sewing threads....oh yes another Hero Arts cling stamp and stocking up on the old 3D foam pads.....a real bargain at 50p a sheet.

It was absolutely lovely to meet up with all my lovely buds.....Lorraine & Ann...my gorgeous Fiskars buddies....Ann is looking great after her chemotherapy treatment and now has a luscious head of curly hair
and she brought me this gorgeous little pressie of MME papers and delish card

the gorgeous Cass...oh yes another one with luscious curly hair and my very special Funky Hand teamie Allison who gave me this scrummy assortment of goodies and another delish card made with one of my fave Polkadoodle papers

and her lovely friend Sandra.
It was an absolute pleasure to meet another two lovelies......Judy who lives just a stone's throw from me and her lovely sister and last by no means least....the one and only Gayle.....no longer a little bird....all scrummy plumpish round and gorgeously  preggers and she is so naughty......bringing us all yummy cupcakes.
I am so lucky to have found all these wonderful crafty friends and thank you all for making the day so special.
And...this yummy delish pile of goodies from the lovely Julie Hickey at Craftwork Cards....don't know if I am supposed to share this with you all yet but hey ho I am in a naughty mood this morning....I have been asked to join their new DT and I am absolutely thrilled......been a fan for many many years.....can't wait to dive in and get some samples off to them.

Oh I am going to have such fun playing with all my new goodies but today is going to be a bit of a "feet up and relax" day....the old body needs a little time to recover from all the excitement yesterday.
Will catch up with you all tomorrow for another fabby challenge over at Penny Black Saturday.
Hugs Kath xxxxxx

Home safe and Sound

Morning folks....yes I arrived home safe and sound after a wonderful day....will share more news with you later....Mr Blogger has been seriously naughty this morning.....it seems that lots of folks have been unable to access their blogs....me included.....until now....so no time to do my usual post......"The Budster" and I are off for our morning stroll and I can't believe it is still raining......4 days of this wet stuff...perhaps it's time to get out the old hammer and nails and build an ark.    Catch up with you all soon.

woo...hooo.....I am on my way

Morning folks...hopefully by the time you read this I will be well on my way to Glasgow...sitting comfortably..enjoying a coffee and no doubt reading the newspaper....chugging my way south on the First Scotrail Express to the SECC....and fingers crossed Mr Blogger has done as I asked...or I am talking to myself.
Boy oh boy it's been a real busy week and I know that I am going to thoroughly enjoy my day out meeting up with all my lovely buddies and no doubt making one or two little purchases.
Remember the cards for Allsorts yesterday....yes the ones that I thought needed a little bit of oomph
BEFORE

AFTER

JUST A LITTLE BIT OF RED ADDED...MAKES THE WHOLE CARD POP
and time for the sneaky peek...yes I'm afraid only one....I won't have a Polkadoodle card this week.....basically I just ran out of time.

and have to share this with you all.....out of the mouths of babes.....Brodie my delish little grandson is as bright as a button and 5 going on 55.....and what was the cause of me being well and truly put in my place and it just goes to show that you can't pull the wool over a child's eyes....well not all of the time.

as we sat at the kitchen table having our breakfast....I could see Brodie eyeing up my mug.....and the conversation went like this......

"Grandma....your cup says Kit Kat"
"Yes" I replied....I got it with a "Kit Kat" Easter Egg....you know Kit Kat the biscuit.
"Well Grandma.... that isn't how you spell CAT"....it is not a kicking K....it's a curly C" but Grandma...do you know that KITTEN has a kicking K why is that?
Hoping that he would then get on to another topic....too early in the morning to try and explain the strange ins and outs of the English language.....but OH NO.....he carried on.....

"Let's play a game......I will say a letter and you have to tell me something that begins with it" and my first letter was "N"..so I said....NAUGHTY....NICE.....began to struggle at this point and in a silly moment said..KNICKERS...well quick as a flash he said "Grandma...Knickers doesn't start with "N"....it has a Kicking K at the beginning but you don't say it.....that was me suitably put in my place by
"THE CUTEST LITTLE MR KNOW-IT ALL".
need to watch my P's and Q's in future.
Will catch up with you all tomorrow with all the gossip from my very mad but oh so friendly group of crafty buddies and what I bought at the SECC.....

Allsorts Challenge 23...another saga

Yes I'm back again...with another challenge card and  oh dearie me...yet another saga in the cubbyhole.....
The challenge this week over at Allsorts is.....

MONOCHROMATIC
and I decided that my colour would be GREEN

now I know what you are thinking....it looks absolutely nothing like the sketch.....WHAT SKETCH ?????.....only remembered about there being a sketch to follow when I went back to link up to the challenge...talk about a Britney Spears meets Victor Meldrew moment....in the words of the song....OOPS....I DID IT AGAIN.....AND I DON'T BEELIEEVE IT.   OH BOTHER!!! and that wasn't what I said....but there may be children reading this blog....I was spitting feathers and if it was physically possible I would have been booting myself up the bum good and proper but nothing else for it...start all over again and using the same components... here is "THE PROPER CARD" for the challenge..... followed the sketch to the letter and not such a disaster after all.....two cards for the price of one for the Christmas Card Box which... by the way...I have hidden away from those sneaky folks who keep plundering it .

Hero Arts Cling......Striped Circle
Sizzix Texture Plate
Buttons: Basic Grey Archaic
Ribbon: Maya Road
Sentiment: American Crafts Foam Thickers
Pink Petticoat....Tiny Alphas
Tim Holtz: Distress Ink Pad.....Peeled Paint
Gems from stash coloured with permanent marker pen

Can't help feeling that they need a little added extra to make them pop....come on by tomorrow and see if it has worked and it will be time for a sneaky peek.    I am beginning to get excited.....tomorrow I will be off on my jolly to the SECC.....can't wait to see all my lovely buddies and have a real fun crafty day out....but first I need to hot foot it to Alford and get those scrummy Christmas Magic papers for my lovely Fiskars buddy Ann......catch up with you all later.
Hugs Kath xxxxxxx

Daring Cardmakers Challenge

Morning folks...time for a challenge card.   The challenge this week from Daring Cardmakers has been set by my lovely FH teamie Lythan and is......

I CAN SEE CLEARLY NOW
"I would love to see something clear on your card. It could be an acetate card, an acetate embellishment, a window cut in the card, clingfilm, OHP sheet, Mirror fragments - anything that shows that your card is clearly one of the best!"
and I decided to go with an acetate card

WeRMemoryKeepers.....Nonsense Collection
Ribbon: American Crafts
Self Adhesive Gems
Sentiment: Doodlebug Stickers

Lots of folks say to me that they struggle with acetate cards.....the secret is to choose shapes or images that you can place back to back so that the inside front is nice and tidy.....you do not want to see glue or D/S tape when you open the card.....what I struggle with is.....getting a half decent pic....it's either too bright or as is the case today....the weather is totally 3D.....DARK....DREARY AND DISMAL......with some rain and a lot of wind thrown in........Back soon with "DOPEY MARE VIRUS STRIKES AGAIN"

Three Cheers for Hero Arts

Hi folks......I want to give three huge cheers for Hero Arts....in my opinion...one of the best rubber stamp companies in the world....not only do they keep coming up with fantastic stamps and accessories....they really listen to their customers....we now have our very own
you can now buy all of the Hero Arts products currently available at heroarts.com, and get it fulfilled by a local retail store in the UK and Ireland. You pay only local shipping rates!  With the popularity of our US online store, and the many requests for a UK product offering, we have designed this new store — launching today — just for you.

Where as before....we were limited what we could buy in the UK....now we have the whole catalogue available and only a quick online visit away....oh this could be a dangerous situation for the crafty stash pot.  A big thank you to Aaron for listening to all us Moaning Minnie Hero Arts Addicts in the UK.
My delicious little hooligans have now gone home....we had a real fun day ....they were as good as gold and yes I did get to watch my Martha Stewart programme...and no I didn't order anything but a deal is a deal.....so we snuggled up on the sofa after lunch to watch "Polar Express" with a humungus ice cream each...all happy bunnies licking away....even "The Budster" managed to get in the act when Oliver held his cone upside down and the whole bang shoot landed on the floor and was scooped up at lightning speed by my furry hoover.

Buddy...you may have got my ice cream....but you ain't getting the cone

Catch up with you all tomorrow for some challenge cards....and blimey I need to get those crafty fingers working tonight and catch up with my DT stuff.
Hugs Kath xxxxxxx

Thinking of You......

Morning folks....time to share my card delivery from yesterday.....little Sis requested some "Thinking of You" cards to top up her card box....oh how I wish I had a card box that I could dip into when I needed a card....let's put it this way.... I do have a box but the cards never seem to stay long enough in it for me to use....but I'm not complaining....lots of pennies to spend on crafty stash and you know me by now... I have absolutely no will power when it comes to crafty stash.    My lovely Penny Black Saturday teamie Jackie e-mailed me last week to let me know that "The Glitter Pot" had just taken a delivery of the brand new Hero Arts clings....very naughty of you Jackie....but it would have been so rude not to check it out and then I can't help myself...any vestige of sanity or reason go completely out the window and the very next morning the postie is ringing the bell... I am the proud owner of even more Hero Arts......maybe I should start up a "Hero Arts Anonymous"...my name's Kath and I am a Hero Artaholic.    And then comes the best bit...inking them up and having a PLAY....perfect for the Thinking of You cards and in 2 shakes of a coo's tail ...3 cards of each design done and dusted.

and don't know why the Prima on this one looks rusty...when in fact it's pink

Well my delicious little hooligans will be arriving soon.....I am all set for my day of playing with trucks....diggers...police cars and fire engines.....makes a bit of a change from stamps and inks.....the yummy ice cream is in the freezer...have already looked out the DVD.....catch up with you all tomorrow with a challenge card or two and oh dear... it never rains but it pours here....the dopey mare virus has been at work again.
Hugs Kath xxxxx
