The Joys of Cardmaking

Morning folks....time to share the cards featured in this month's Simply Cards & Papercraft....you are working so far ahead of time when you do stuff for magazines......that I had completely forgotten what they looked like until I saw them in print.... and I must admit that I struggled to get half decent pics on a dreary rainy day but obviously so did the mag photographer....as I thought they looked so insipid in print....not showing off the true colours of these gorgeous papers at all....

and this one... had me tearing my hair out and losing the will to live.....OH CHRISTMAS TREE....not half.  The Editor had seen a Christmas Tree made with the bell images on the Woodware website and asked if I could do something similar......no probs for a veteran cardmaker like me I thought....oh boy did I have to eat my words big time.   I stamped loads of bells in different sizes onto this gorgeous patterned paper...overstamped with a swirly image and embossed with silver......cut each one out....yes including these fiddly little clangers and start to form the tree......this was the point when it all went pear shaped.....using 3D foam pads....it just wasn't  going to work.....by the time I got to the top....it was standing about 3 feet off the card.     Silicone glue was the answer and I never ever use it....can't stand the smell but sometimes desperate measures are called for in the pursuit of art......so started all over again with the stamping....embossing and yes the cutting.
Slowly built up the layers.....waiting for each layer to dry and by the time I got to the top....hours later.....the smell in the cubbyhole....even with the windows open....was horrendous and ME....I was as high as a kite from sniffing all that glue and will definitely NOT be mass producing that one.

Papers: SEI....."Winter's Song"
Images & Sentiments.... Woodware.....
 Bells & Bows....Dashing Through the Snow...Christmas Baubles
Ribbon...Stickers and Embellies from my stash

Will catch up with you all tomorrow......some more to share.

  3. Your cards are stunning Kath, all that effort really paid off, I don't know if you know about it but there's a odourless glue out called Pinflair Glue Gel which is also silicon free, dries crystal clear and has a syringe as well if you want to use that, I'm probably telling you about something you already know, but just in case!!

  21. WOW! All of these are just gorgeous ~ but, like everybody else, have to tell you that your Bell Christmas Tree is the best! Can understand why you wouldn't want to do tons of them, but it sure is pretty. Obviously you and Buddy have long since recovered from the fumes! Glad you opened a window!
