woo...hooo....more gorgeous girls

Yes the old gadabout is home and I must admit by the time I arrived home in Aberdeen last night around 6pm...I was totally exhausted but what a fabulous...fabulous time .....and first of all let me say a big thank you to the two lovely students from Edinburgh ....my companions on the journey down...who kindly logged onto my blog on their laptop just to check that Mr Blogger had in fact posted my Penny Black challenge...they were great company ....have a great holiday folks....I am so jealous and  a little toot as promised.
Arrived in Harrogate on Saturday afternoon.....quick taxi to the hotel to dump luggage....and then off to the show...the Harrogate Show is not nearly so big as the SECC or the NECC.....but it has a charm all of its own....smaller...friendlier and not the pushy shovy crowds that you get at the bigger shows......I was so excited...I am meeting up with some of my bloggy buds at the coffee shop at 3.30pm......and wow were they just the best bunch of sweethearts......

Nicola...(Marcea's lovely Mum)....the one and only gorgeous Dawny P....the lovely Marcea
and the two beauties in the front Kirsten and Emma....now there was someone else
in the pic....yes you've guessed it....the old bird herself...but I hate getting my pic taken
probably because I can't stop talking long enough and always end up with some weird expression on my face......so with a bit of cropping....I ended up on the cutting room floor.
It was so wonderful  to meet you all....you are such lovely girls....and I received some gorgeous goodies too.....will share piccies later.    Dawny and her lovely hubby Richard kindly gave me a lift back to my hotel and would you believe.....they were staying just around the corner so we arranged to meet up later that evening and go for dinner .......and apologies to Richard......poor man....he hardly got a word in...... he didn't stand a chance with Dawny and I in full flow.....I truly believe that Dawn and I were twins in a former life......gee we are so alike and she is just as lovely and funny as she is on her blog .... they treated me to a gorgeous feast.....refused to let me pay my share.....how naughty was that....definitely my treat next time guys......and after a nightcap at their hotel....insisted on walking the old gal safely home.....two absolutely lovely people and what a perfect end to a wonderful day....but there's more to come  and it's back to the show on Sunday.....to meet up with some very special ladies.....the lovely Ruth and Jozza ...my Funky Hand Team mates and Jozza's  lovely friend Nikky...and it was truly special meeting these lovely gals.....but unfortunately I forgot my camera ...so no pics......much to Jozza's relief.....(just pray that Kirsty lost her camera on the way home Joz) but even worse....I forgot my mobile phone and my specs.......OK I can see distances without them but up close and personal.....I am as blind as a bat....which doesn't exactly help at a craft show when you are trying to oogle all the goodies......yes I did have a spend but I admit I didn't go over the top.......probably because I couldn't see half of the stuff.....I got some absolutely delicious stamps which I can't wait to play with and of course....some yummy goodies for the soon to be revealed
100,000 hits BLOG CANDY
And I can't forget the other lovely folks I met........Kirsty Wiseman......Dyan from Art From The Heart......the fabulous Bev.....Sue...Richard and the lovely gals from Craftwork Cards.......all beavering away at the show....wow.....another special day.........but all too soon....it's time to say cheerio and head back to the hotel and I must confess after all the fun of meeting my lovely bloggy buds.... the thought of dinner on my own didn't appeal.....so popped  into a nearby Tesco Express.....picked up some snackies  and fruit.....and headed back to the hotel.....nice hot shower.....jammies on and into bed by 7pm to chill out and watch TV......wow you can tell I am used to the high life....a real swinging chick me.
And before you know it........it's Monday morning and time to go home......got an earlier train from Harrogate to York and decided to have a little stroll around.....it's years since I 've been in York.....such a beautiful city.
and what a surprise when I checked my ticket as I waited to board the train......first class on the way home....well how did that happen.....why didn't I notice before....for goodness sake....I would have dolled up a bit and even put on some extra lippie......definitely the way to travel....free coffee....water and snacks all the way home and a sight that always brings a lump to my throat and tells me that I am definitely heading home.......the Forth Road Bridge....
Wonderful memories of a very special weekend spent with the nicest folks
which I will treasure forever.
BIG HUGS AND KISSES TO YOU ALL
Slept like a log last night with my bestest buddy resting his head on my feet......he was so glad to see me and I missed him so much......well off to unpack and then try to catch up with you all.....crikey....I leave you for 3 days and you go into a crafting frenzy........toodle oo...for now.

it is great to go away for a wee break....but it is so much nicer to come home again.... to see my big bundle of golden deliciousness....yes that hairy hooligan "The Budster" who will jump all over me and lick me to death and of course.....hubby....don't think I will quite get the same welcome....I've seen the day but now it's night.....as they say.
And a few more Craftwork Card samples to show you........

and I think this is my favourite
Well toodle...oo...for now....will catch up with you all tomorrow.....all the latest show gossip to share and hopefully if I have remembered to get the camera out.....will have some pics of my lovely bloggy buds to share with you and can't wait to get home to my own bed.

Here Come The Girls

Well here we go folks....I did promise to share some of the cards I made with the fabulous new sets of clear stamps from Craftwork Cards.....you are going to be so bored of me rabbiting on about these stamps...but honestly .....I can't believe the quality....they are so detailed and they stamp beautifully.   I do believe that they are going to be bringing out a new set of stamps each month.....well guess who will be first in the queue.

this was a marriage made in heaven "Here Come the Girls meet Tim Holtz"
and aren't they just gorgeous......cute little faces
all the backgrounds were created using Distress Ink Pads and then
overstamped with the little icon stamps from the sets
and then.....my favourite....an acetate card
in Black White and Silver
Papers are from the Basically Black set and
check out that yummy silver card candy
and then just a simple card using a stamp from
the Botanicals set......although the theme of all the stamp sets
is Oriental....the little icons can be used on any style of card
By the time you are reading this.....well if Mr Blogger has behaved himself and posted as I asked him....I will be tucking into my breakfast in the hotel and getting set to leave for the show....I did make a quick visit to the show yesterday...to deliver the samples to Sue and have a scoot around but yahoo today I will be meeting up with all those lovely bloggy buds .....I have also asked Mr Blogger very nicely.....if he will show you some more sample cards tomorrow so pop over to see what else I made with these gorgeous goodies.

Penny Black Saturday Challenge - Week 42

Morning all you Penny Black lovers out there....another great response to last week's DOODLING challenge.....lots of you admitted that you are not fond of doodling but hey well done for giving it a go...and I spotted one or two serial doodlers out there....great to know that I am not alone.

This week's challenge on Penny Black Saturday is "THINK SPRING" ....unfortunately......the beautiful Spring weather we had seems to have disappeared .....certainly in this part of the country anyway.....we are back to freezing cold winds....rain and even some snow flurries.

Onto this week's card which was not without it's problems.....don't know why....just having an off day...but this was the third attempt and still not entirely happy but didn't have time to start all over again......it happens.

Papers: WeR Memory Keepers...White Out Collection
Image: Penny Black "Hugs" Collection
Watering Can: Sizzix Die
Flowers: Quickutz Die
Felt Flowers and Ribbon from my stash
Alphabets: Mrs Grossman's Alphabet Stickers
By the time you are reading this....I will be chugging my way south on the train to Harrogate to the Great Northern Papercrafts Extravaganza.....to meet up with my fabulous bloggy buds......oooh....I am so excited....it's going to be a fabulous fun weekend and who knows...may even manage to have a little spend.
I love travelling by train....beats driving any day and the scenery down the east coast is truly
spectacular....from the rugged coastline of Aberdeenshire....to the beautiful beaches of the Kingdom of Fife and then as we are nearing Edinburgh that spectacular sight of the Forth Road and Rail Bridges....doesn't matter how often I do this journey....the scenery still delights me and then on to the beautiful coastline of Northumbria....down to Newcastle and then across Yorkshire to the beautiful city of York....just sit back...relax and enjoy.
And this card so reminds me that it's time to get out into the garden and tidy up all the leaves and debris from the winter months.....but at the moment....unless I work nightshift.....can't see it happening.....hubby is taking a week off work shortly....and thinks he will be having a week sitting on the sofa watching TV or relaxing with a cuppa....guess what...he's in for a shock...I have a list of things for him to do.

And we have a fabulous prize this week for one lucky winner
kindly donated by our lovely teamie Jackie
Looking forward to seeing all your fabulous SPRING cards this week.....will be popping over to see all your  creations when I get home on Monday and pop back tomorrow to see some of the sample cards I made with the fabulous new stamp sets from Craftwork Cards and remember to put your clocks forward tonight.....let's hope I remember....don't want to miss one minute of the show never mind an hour.

Morning Folks...yes back with another challenge card and it's Thursday....so some sneaky peeks.
The challenge this week on Papertake Weekly is a fabulous sketch from my bestest bloggy bud..Dawny P and I can't believe it is only 2 more sleeps until I finally get to meet this gorgeous lady in the flesh. I can't remember how I first got to know Dawn but I do know that like me she is a big fan of Pink Petticoat products......so I thought I would use some of my favourite products from the lovely and very talented Liz.

What am I doing today

Morning folks....and I so felt like a lie-in this morning but the list of things to do just gets longer and longer....so it was up with the birdies and although it's cold.....the sun is shining and it's a beautiful morning....."The Budster" and I have already had our walk.....done a quick swirl around with the old Dyson.....just off to grab a bite of breakfast and the cubbyhole beckons once again.
And what am I doing today.....well finishing off some little goodie parcels and handbag boxes.......

aren't these little handbag boxes so cute....I downloaded a template for this one but I can't for the life of me remember from where......oh dear...it's that memory thingy again
P.S I've found the blog where I downloaded  the template.....click HERE...the old gal ain't as daft as she looks...it just takes a bit longer to remember things...that's all
and all made with the little icon stamps from the Craftwork Cards Clear Stamp Sets.....I tell you.....you are going to be so sick fed up of me yacking on about these stamps.
I am having a little jaunt this weekend....off to Harrogate to meet up with some of my bloggy buds....the gals from "Funky Hand".....the bestest nicest team mates a girl could wish for....and I am so excited that I am finally going to meet them in the flesh and we are going to have such fun because.....what a co-incidence the Great Northern Papercrafts Extravaganza just happens to be on that weekend.....wasn't that brilliant planning......Emma (Metalic Butterfly) and Marcea..my lovely teamie from Penny Black Saturday and what do you know........the icing on the cake.....my bestest bloggy bud....the one and only...the princess of all things crafty......Dawny P.....Miss Piggy Wiggy herself and her lovely hubby Richard are coming across for the weekend.......ooooh.....I can't believe it.....we are finally going to meet.....brace yourself Miss PW for the biggest ever bloggy hug.
Why do men always have to analyse everything......"Why are you going to Harrogate...seems an awful long way to go for a craft show"......."I am meeting up with some bloggy buds and  am going to drop off the samples to Sue at Craftwork Cards"....was my reply......"wouldn't it be cheaper just to post them"  he replied........MEN......THEY JUST DON'T GET IT DO THEY.
Well can't stay chatting all day it's off to the cubbyhole to get crafting.....must admit it's not much of a chore.....how many folks get to do a job that they absoluely love and while I am working away I can watch all my little birdies buds going about their business in the garden....catch up with you all tomorrow for Sneaky Peek Thursday and if I don't get a spurt on....there won't be anything to peek at.

A little toot

Wooo...hoooo....can't believe it...

my "Sew What's New" House Mouse card is the winner of Challenge # 6
what a nice surprise and a big thank you to the lovely girls on "The Pink Elephant" team for choosing me.
Did I come home from M& S laden with bargains.....NO.....is the answer....not one.....to be honest I wondered around for ages picking up the odd thing and then thought.....you know what....you don't need any of this stuff...my wardrobe is already full to bursting with stuff I've bought and have never worn....so it was all a bit of a wasted journey.
No challenge cards today......I have been working away at the Craftwork Cards samples and let me tell you folks if you haven't already purchased any of these stamps....you need to get on over to the website and grab some.....they are absolutely gorgeous....not only do you get the Japanese Doll images...but there are lots of little icons on the sheet as well and the artwork and detail on them is top notch....I have so fallen in love with them all....so you are going to be seeing lots of these stamps on my cards...and I know I am being very naughty.....but I'm sure Sue won't mind if I share just one with you.

All the materials used are from Craftwork Cards
Cardstock: Softies Collection: Eggshell
Scalloped Square
Images: Clear Stamps...Akina
and do you know that Akina means "Spring Flower" in Japanese
In Circle Message in Chocolate
And is there no end to this crafty mood I'm in....I also had a card to make for a friend's birthday coming up in the next few days......now when I have to make a card in a hurry...I am inclined to head straight for my favourite papers and stamps and to be honest....you know how critical we crafters are about our own work...well I am never really over the moon about any of my cards....but I have to admit that I rather like this one.....yes so much....that I made another with different colours.
Papers: K & Co..Blue Awning
Image: Penny Black...Whispers
Ribbon: Maya Road
Sentiment: Woodware Clear Stamps
Craftwork Cards: Flower Sentiment
Where on earth does the week go....tomorrow is Wednesday already....
catch up with you all later

"The Pink Elephant" Challenge # 7

Morning Folks....from a cold but dry and bright Aberdeenshire...can't believe the difference in temperature from last week...but hey what an improvement on yesterday's weather.....goodness it was like Acopalypse Now...wild...wet and lots of snow showers and a great excuse to be snug and cosy in my cubby hole crafting......and I am definitely back in crafty mode....and managed to find some time to get another challenge card done.
The challenge this week on "The Pink Elephant" is a sketch from the lovely Robin and a great sketch too....so I kept it fairly simple this week....my type of card.
Paper: WeR Memory Keepers ~White Out Collection
Ribbon: We RMemory Keepers
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad...Brushed Corduroy
Image: Hero Arts...can't remember the name

Scallops: cut with Fiskars Heart Punch
Sentiment: sticker from my stash
I am having the morning off......the M&S sale starts today......am I needing any stuff.....not really but hey I might just see that must have item that has been drastically reduced....so after "The Budster" has trotted around and done his all important sniff every blade of grass within a 5 mile radius ...I will be off for a nosey and then back to crafty mode again....need to get the samples for Craftwork Cards done and dusted and who knows....may be back later with another challenge card.....Hugs Kath xxxxxx

Daring Cardmakers Challenge

Yes back again....and this time with a little bit of fun....oh I know I am busy...busy with work stuff but hey a little bit of fun lightens the mood and we can't have Kath in a grumpy mood can we.
The challenge this week on Daring Cardmakers is......

Cos I'm a Woman

so I thought I would make a Mum's Mood-o-Meter card....yes a slider card which I haven't made for ages....

Papers: Basic Grey "Two Scoops"
Flowers and Alphabet Stickers from the same collection
Tiny Text
and a little bit of inking and doodling
Juat a little bit of fun to banish the "no more Dancing on Ice for a year" blues or "the cold weather is back" blues..... or the "back off to the cubbyhole" blues..........off to wrap up cosy.....and walk "The Budster"....it is freezing here today and we have had some light snow flurries.....catch up with you all tomorrow....

Mother's Day

Morning folks.....hope you all had a lovely Mother's Day.....my bestest bud gave me a gorgeous card and lots of sweets......which he is probably hoping I will share and a big Buddy hug.

So sad to hear the news that Jade Goody has lost her brave battle with cancer and how poignant that she should die on Mother's Day of all days.....I wasn't a fan but in the past few weeks I have come to admire the courageous and determined way she dealt with her illness.....she was a wonderful mother which is nothing short of a miracle when you consider the rotten start she had in life....she showered those two little boys with all the love that she never experienced and my heart goes out to them....I admired her openess about the dreaded "C" word and she has probably done more to highlight awareness of cervical cancer and the need for regular smear tests than all the NHS advertising could ever achieve....this isn't a disease that only older women get.....young or old...this terrible disease is no respecter of age but if diagnosed early.....can be cured.
I was rather annoyed at the news coverage last night when they raised the "Big Brother/ Shilpa Shetty" thing.....have they no feelings....totally inapproriate and although I detest racism in any shape or form.....let's all remember Jade as a brave courageous woman and loving wonderful mother...who made some mistakes along the way....just like the rest of us.
I was working all day yesterday and eventually staggered in from the cubbyhole around 4.30 pm all set to make the Sunday meal....I am the only cook in our house....so I'm afraid there was no feet up and someone else doing the cooking.....but I did take myself along to M&S yesterday and partake of their special offer for Mother's Day....roast for 4 with a side dish...a pud and a bottle of wine....and let me tell you folks it was absolutely delish.......we had the roast lamb...with new potatoes and the sticky toffee pud was to die for......bought a load and stashed them in the freezer..and then I got a lovely surprise when I logged on to check on my bloggy buds.....

my acetate card was one of the Fab 5 on 2 Sketches4You

and the icing on the cake......."The Dancing On Ice" final.......wow.....what a fabulous show and weren't all the finalists brilliant but there can only be one winner and boy did Ray deserve to win......poor Jessica...I was so disappointed for her...but hey I loved Donal too and was in bits just before he started the Balero....when his little girl shouted out "I love you Daddy"....aw....sweet.....and I got to see my Dan the Man just one more time.....made this old gal tres jolie....I can tell you.....but oh dear I am going to have serious withdrawals next week and what on earth will I be watching on Sunday nights now.
Back later with my card for Daring Cardmakers...and this is a real fun one folks.....off to walk "The Budster" and then back to the old workhouse....still got shed loads to do before my little jaunt away....will be telling you all about that later.
Hugs Kath xxxxx

Easter Blog Hop

Morning Folks......I couldn't resist having a little Easter Blog Hop with one of my favourite challenge blogs...yes..."The Pink Elephant"...they are having a real fun weekend with lots of challenges...competitions...great tutorials....I love this one from my "Funky Hand" teamie Carol for a gorgeous little easter basket.....lots of candy and prizes....so if you haven't joined in the fun yet....get yourselves over there pronto.
And here is my card for their "Think Spring" challenge.......

Papers: Crate: Blue Hill Collection
Image: Penny Black
Sentiment: Doodlebug Mixed Up Alphabet
American Crafts: Foam Thickers
Ribbon: American Crafts
and my fave punch from Martha Stewart
the grand kiddies came to play at Grandma's yesterday....the weather was glorious and we had lunch outdoors....just like summer.....long may it continue but I am falling a bit behind with all the stuff I have to finish this week..... but I thought what the heck......what's one more day....all work and no play...makes Jill a very dull girl.....so decided to have a little fun and play along.....tomorrow is another day......isn't that what they say and it was great to have a day off from the messy inky fingers.
But that was yesterday.....up with the birdies this morning.....off to walk "The Budster" and back to the old crafting malarkey and oh dear the weather is not looking so great today.....yikes there is even snow forecast for later this week up in my neck of the woods........catch up with you all later.....Hugs Kath xxxxxx

P.S. To answer Tina's question....I used Fiskars Ribbon Slot punch but forgot to mention it in the materials list.

Stampin Chic Sketch # 2

I'm back again....this time with my card for
another fabulous sketch from Clare.....today and tomorrow....Clare and the team will be hard at work demonstrating her brand new Signature Range at Olympia.....if you are going to the show...why don't you pop over and say hello......I know that they would all love to meet you.
And speaking of being hard at work.....well over the last few days of beautiful weather.....I'm afraid that I haven't been keeping up the production line....taking time out to just sit in the garden and enjoy the sun.....so this coming week is going to be a bit frantic.....
Fairly simple card from me this week for the sketch.......stamped the flower image all over the background and Happy Birthday from the Sentiment stamps.....with Colorbox Queue Dark Brown and embossed with clear embossing powder and then using blending chalks coloured the background......placing brads in the centres of the flowers.....Added some Papermania flowers and a little bit of ribbon......voila.....hardly rocket science but quite fresh and spring like.

CSSR.......Sentiment Stamps
CSSR..........Doodles
All Night Media...Blending Chalks
Colorbox Queue - Dark Brown
Clear Embossing Powder
Papermania Brads
Papermania Flowers
Anita's Ribbon

Why don't you pop over to "Stampin Chic" and take part in this week's challenge....there will be a mystery prize for the lucky winner.   Off to get some serious work done today.....sunshine or no sunshine.....catch up with you all later......Hugs Kath xxxxxxxx
