Papertake Weekly Challenge

Morning folks....yes the weather has quickly gone downhill....let's hope it's just a little hiccup and that Spring and Summer this year are going to live up to the scorching predictions from the Met Office....believe it when I see it considering we have snow forecast for the weekend.....you couldn't make it up if you tried.   So on with the crafting.....and the minute I saw the challenge this week over at Papertake Weekly.....I knew I just had to join in.....loving these cute images from LOTV....

CUTIE PIE
and they don't come much cuter than this

Image: LOTV...Swing Time
Background inked with Hero Arts Shadow Ink...Soft Sand edged with TH Distress Ink Pad...yes how did you guess Brushed Corduroy.
Ribbon: from stash
Flowers: Prima
Sentiment: Hero Arts....Share Laughter
Paw Print Punch used as a stencil

And this image brought back wonderful memories of my childhood when my best friend was our beautiful black and white Springer Spaniel called Bustle.....and as you go through life you realise that animals are never critical...don't judge...they are always there for you.... to lick away the tears and give unconditional love.
Bustle was allowed to sleep in our room on the rug at the side of the bed....but one night when Dad popped his head round the door to check we were asleep....there were three heads peeking out....there she was in the middle of our big old double bed snuggled up between my sis and I.....under the blankets....head on pillow and snoring like a train.  That was her supposedly banished from jumping on the bed....but what Dad didn't know....or perhaps he did.....that the minute he went to bed....the wise old girl was back under the covers all snuggly cosy once again.....only moving back to her rug when she heard him getting up in the morning.     And remember folks...there was no central heating in those days....so she was a welcome hot water bottle during the wintry nights.   Now in this day and age when everyone is obsessed with hygiene and cleanliness....I have probably caused quite a few folks to have palpitations....but I have reached this grand old age without any serious health issues....in fact it has been said I have the constitution of a horse....so a little dirt and contact with animals never did me any harm......and to let you into a little secret...my best friend still sleeps on the bottom of my bed.....yes it's The Budster I'm referring to....but I draw the line at him sleeping under the duvet......give him an inch and he would take a mile...I would probably end up kipping on the floor....in fact it's a bit of a race to get into bed and get your legs down before he flakes out.....otherwise it's a night of sleeping with your knees up at your chin and believe me....I have problems enough uncurling this old body in the morning at the best of times.
Catch up with you all later...don't know if it will be tomorrow....got up this morning with a crick in my neck....a tad painful when I try to turn my head....you could say I am a pain in the neck today and who am I to disagree.
Hugs Kath xxx

  2. Hi Kath
Gorgeous card and gorgeous story too.
Brought back memories of me and my sister and our little Jack Russell that also used to sleep in between us - more often than not though we only had a single bed to share!
Have a wonderful day - hope the pain in the neck doesn't last too long.
    Take care

  7. Beautiful card Kath, love your little story, its brings back so many memories for me too. The dog kept me warm in bed too, and my kids always had the dog in there beds too, seems my daughter has forgotton as she wouldn't even have the dog in her house, never mind in bed, I think thats why there's so many allergies now.
They say that people that are brought up with animals are healthier.

Hope your neck gets better soon, rub on some Horse Linament.(lol)

  10. hee hee - our cat does this now...he is not allowed on the bed (hubby complains) but he knows he can get on my side of the bed and I wont kick him off...but when hubby comes upstairs he scoots off double quick! And as far as dirt goes...I used to have a horse and my child was down the yard with me (in the stable in his carseat) with the horse snuffling at him, hay dust etc flying everywhere..he came down there at two days old! He is one of the healthiest kids in his class - never off with sniffles and bugs - AND he was never poorly down the yard!

  14. Hi Kath - Love your card and the friendship with our pets is definitely a special one and I do miss snuggling up with them. Can't understand these people that wretch at the thought of it - they're sadly lacking something! A bit of dirt never hurt anyone after all you don't see many sick farmers do you!

Enjoy your snuggles and hope your neck gets better soon - I know how much it hurts!

    Love Lynda xxx

  15. Just love these LOTV images - not usually a fan, but these are just gorgeou. Wonder how many crafty lovers out there are also pet lovers - is it something in our makeup?? There are 6 people in our team at work, only 2 of us (me included) have anything to do with crafting and guess who are the pet owners?!
Anyway, good job my westies (especially Max) can't read - he only gets a treat of getting on the bed on a Sunday morning when I get breakfast brought to me in bed.
    Hugs as always

  22. Hi Kath ! Yes the image of this card is so cute. When I was a kid my parents never let me have a dog. But now I'm married to a wonderful man whom loves dogs as much as I do and we have two. One of them sleeps with us on the bed the other one doesn't because he's too old and can't jump anymore...otherwise we'll have to buy a bigger bed !!! ;)

  24. Fabulous card Kath. Love that sweet image. I've always loved dogs. When we got married one of the first things we did was get a dog andwe've never been without one since.

Had a trip to Elgin with my friend today to Papercrafts. We were shown lots of your cards. I think I could have picked them out as I love your style of cards. My friend was well impressed as she hasn't got internet. Susan was with me when I said hello at the SECC in March.

Awww I love these images too, they made me smile as soon as I saw them and just HAD to get them!!
LOL at the doggy duvet stories, but I totally agree, my two furries both sleep on my bed, who cares about the hairs and yup I often wake up scrunched up at the edge of the bed as the two buds have taken over the whole of the left side of the bed!!! Tee Hee wouldn't have it any other way!!
