What's on my Workdesk Wednesday

Morning folks....yes it's Wednesday....the second last Wednesday before the big day and time to play along with the lovely Julia and her cronies over at WOYWW....wonder how many desks are going to be in frantic finishing off Christmas Card mode.....not this desk....without wishing to gloat my cards are well and truly done and dusted all set to be mailed today and the special ones for family and close friends will be popped into their parcels of Christmas Cheer.....the crafty stuff has been given the elbow and my desk has been transformed into a magical Parcel Wrapping Station.

I am a little confused because for years and years I made Christmas Cards to order...the production line starting away back in September...well that kind of snowballed way out of proportion....a grand total of 742 cards in 2008....yes I was well and truly sick of Christmas long before the 25th.....cut back a bit last year to only 436....well my name is not Hallmark.....so why after taking the executive decision that there would definitely be no Christmas Card orders this year have I failed miserably to keep up to speed with the preparations and as per usual am running around like a headless chicken....crikey my personal cards are just a drop in the ocean compared to that lot.  Perhaps the old girl is losing her magic mass production touch but I am rather proud of the fact that I have only bought cards this year for those folks that I never see from one end of the year to the other and to be honest will only know if they are still alive when their card arrives on the mat.
Catch with you all tomorrow....it's been a bit of a good news week all round.
Hugs Kath xxx

  1. What lovely wrapping paper, great idea to use the craft area as a wrapping station, will need to clear a space first though lol. WOW that was a lot of cards to make I have only made about thirty and can't wait to make some birthday ones.

  2. Happy wrapping Kath - I love the run up to Christmas, and so what if I only made my christmas cake last week and my christmas puddings yesterday - I'm sure they'll still taste better than shop bought. And if those pesky weather boys would stop going on about the impending 'snow, ice and general warnings of arctic conditions etc' I'd feel a lot less hassled! Mary x

  9. The number of cards you have produced in previous years certainly sound to me as though you could give Mr Hallmark a run for his money!
The stuff in evidence looks yummy too!

  11. the fun starts with the wrapping. I am in awe of the number of cards you have made in the past. I'm surprised Hallmark weren't knocking on your door from what I can see on your desk those cards are beautiful.

  13. I thought I'd done rather well at making 50plus but your card making is serious stuff. Well done you.
If you fancy being in with a chance to win a little knitted Christmas bear and haven't already put your name down then pop over to my blog to be in with a chance :-)

  14. Congratulations on getting to the writing and wrapping stage - love the paper. That was an incredible number of cards - I've struggled to make a fraction of that number just for family and friends. Elizabeth #71

  19. Crikey Kath thats an incredible amount of cards to make - I thought I did well for the last 2 years when I had to make around 400/500 for a craft stall I did - but blimey thats a LOT of cards - probably making the ones just for your family and friends is a breeze to you now.

Loving the look of your gift bags BTW!

    Take care

  20. As you might be able to guess I am in headless chicken mode. Possibly 10 to do plus 6 special for family plus 4 small ones for teenagers who work in the shop. I'm now in quick card mode - not that quick though and even the ones I've done in fours have to have some small difference. As if anyone would know if their card was the same as anyone else's lol!!

Weather is a bit of a worry though!

  21. I agree about sending cards to those people you hardly ever see. The people you see every day don't perhaps need a card so desperately.

  22. Blimey girl!!!! How many cards did you say? Need to recover from the shock here. I made 27 and four box easel special cards and feel like I've done a marathon. No wonder your the greatest crafter. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy Crafty New year. Hugs x ChrisB

  25. I can see a peek of your cards, and I wish I was on your mailing list! I hope you'll show us up close shots after the holiday has passed. Don't want to spoil the surprise of those who are getting to see them in person.

  26. OMG kath - How many??? I have only made about 60 (am still rushing round making the last minute ones for work) and I find that a struggle - I'm guessing you've got it down to a bit finer art than 2.5 hours per card lol!
Happy wrapping - that's something else I've got to try to tackle this week. Thanks God I've got a week off or no way would I get myself sorted. you're clearly very organised :-)

  27. I think I need to have a lie down at the thought of making all those cards... I imagine steam emerging from your elbows, and Buddy being sent to the kitchen to fetch you supplies!

Love all that crisp red and white on the desk.

  28. How cheerful your "wrapping Station" looks with all the red! Went out today to finish my shopping and right away discovered I should have stayed home. I cannot find any of the things I went out to get. What's with that - could find them all when I didn't need them, NOW can't find at any stores. Oh well, guess there is to be a change in plans. #79

  29. A wrapping station. Already? You can't be that far behind then Kath!! Also I have a theory about the cutting back on the cards...the less you do, the less you wanna do...odd thing that!
