Lest We Forget

Remembrance Sunday...a time when folks all over the world come together to honour our fallen heroes...to reflect on the ultimate sacrifice made by countless brave men and women in wars past and present in the name of freedom and peace...apologies for sharing this card from last year...but I do love these gorgeous poppies from Hero Arts...

"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them."
The poppy became the symbol of remembrance as it was the only living thing that survived the bloody battles of Flanders during the First World War but once again the politically correct brigade have to stick their noses in and try to ban people from wearing poppies whether it be at work or indeed at national sporting events because some people could see it a political symbol...what utter tosh...the poppy is a symbol of remembrance and respect and three cheers for Prince William for showing true British spirit and standing up for what is essentially the right of each and every one of us...the freedom to choose.
Catch up with you all tomorrow for some demo and workshop pics from Saturday....I'm off to spend a chill out day with the grandkiddies.
Hugs Kath xxx

  6. One of my favourite Hero Arts stamps too and a beautiful card.

I was at the Remembrance Sunday service today and though the church was busy it was sad to see how few children were there from the youth organisations. When my children were small there were so many that a lot of people had to sit upstairs to leave room for them.

Hope you had a lovely relaxing (?) day with your family.

    Kat xx

  11. This is a truly beautiful card Kath. The poppies are so striking with the red on the kraft card. I completely agree with you with regards the way people are trying to control what we wear or say for fear of offending other cultures who have chosed to come an live in our country. This is by no means meant to offend anyone. I was pleased to see Prince William defend this.

  12. The PC Brigade are taking our freedom away - I was on bookshop duty but had to stop when the time came & stood still until the band in the next square (Bethel Square, Brecon) started to play again. Living in a Barracks town I am all too conscious of the sacrifices that are still made.
Thanks for this Kath - so apt & why not show us again how superbly Hero Arts can be used.

  13. No matter when you created it, that is a beautiful card! And the idea and sentiment behind it is even better. So very glad that people still remember and aren't afraid to say so! When we forget is when we'll be condemned to repeat it all again.
