Idle hands mean trouble...

Hi folks...I'm definitely a "got to be doing" kind of person...even when I'm watching TV my hands have to be busy and with crafting out of the question due to the dodgy wrist I was sure there must be some little tidy up jobs in the cubbyhole I could manage and me being me I should have realised that this was probably going to lead to a whole lot of trouble...after all idle hands are the devil's tools or so they say.
What started off as a simple re-labelling the Distress Ink pads task turned into a mega re-arrangement of the cubbyhole's shelving system and all because the Lord of All Things Holtziness keeps bringing out more and more fabulous stuff...the cubbyhole supply of TH goodies needed more space and what I really need is this...
but they're made in Australia and I can't wait so time to move stuff around and commandeer another shelf...
but in solving that little problem I ended up creating another...the ribbon pile is now homeless and at the moment squatting on my workdesk...well it can't stay there indefinitely...
so I'm working on a plan for extra shelving but that will require all my powers of persuasion to sweet talk the DIY guru around here to move out to the freezing cold garage and spend some time with his jigsaw...wish me luck.
Wishing my fellow Scots wherever in the world you may be...a very Happy St Andrews Day...
I'll leave you with a sneaky peek...
and see you all tomorrow for another Penny Black Saturday Challenge

Jingle Bells...Jingle Bells...

Hi folks...thank you all for your concerned good wishes...the swelling on my wrist has almost gone after a little DIY cold compress and elastic bandage TLC and is not nearly so painful but the old body has now come out in sympathy...strange because I have no recollection of being run over by a truck following my spectacular "hit the deck" impression but hey maybe the memory's going too...all a bit embarrassing to say the least but let me assure you I definitely had not been tippling at the Christmas sherry...it's just another of those "shouldn't be allowed out on my own" episodes in the life of this dopey crafter.
A big thank you to my lovely buddy Polly who e-mailed this gorgeous card to cheer me up...
But hey can you believe how close the big day is now...the cubbyhole crew are definitely getting in the Christmas Jingle Bells groove...there's nothing like a sing-a-long with the gorgeous Mr Buble to make those Christmas preparations go with a swing...the Furry Boy doesn't seem to appreciate my attempts at harmonising...I wonder why!! and you'll be relieved to know that we're giving the dancing a bit of a miss for the time being.
The christmas cards are written and ready to run the gauntlet of that dreaded slot at the Post Office...am I going to repeat last year's 3D foam mistake...will they be just that teeny weeny bit too chubby to slip through requiring a visit to the bank manager with a loan application to cover the postage costs and you may need to sit down and hang onto your galluses because this "last minute annie" has finally embraced technology and done most of her Christmas shopping online at Amazon...wow how easy peasy was that...gifts galore have arrived...all I need are a few bits and pieces...some wrapping paper and this may well be a Guinness Book of Records Christmas for sure. I've had years of practice at the "last minute headless chicken" kind of Christmases and after all's said and done it always works out OK on the day...so for goodness sake...
Time to share a simple Christmas card...not bad for my first attempt at one handed crafting...

getting in some practice for today's attempt at making my DT card for December's Penny Black Saturday Challenge.
See you all tomorrow

What's on my Workdesk Wednesday

Hi folks...it's going to be a short post today from this walking wounded member of the cubbyhole crew...I took a rather undignified nose dive onto a rather hard pavement yesterday...ripped the knee out of my trousers...dented my pride and hurt my wrist...it didn't help that I was in town and had to drive home...a bit of a nightmare changing gears with a swollen and very painful hand but with Christmas just around the corner...thank goodness it's not broken just badly staved...yes this old girl has used up yet another life but lived to tell the tale.
So I'm confined to barracks and planning a "light duties" kind of a day...crafting ain't easy with a dicky hand so I'm hopping over to join in the fun at WOYWW followed by a lazy sofa session re-labelling a pile of Distress Inks.
See you all tomorrow

What a weekend...

Hi folks...before you ask I'm slowly recovering from my domestic goddess weekend adventures and it's time to come clean...forgive the pun...all this cleaning malarkey doesn't float my boat...necessary I admit but a bit of a chore and not much fun...a bit like painting the Forth Bridge...no sooner are you finished and you're back to square one but someone's got to do it so I set to work wiping down doors and skirting boards...moving furniture...crikey how long has all that dust been hiding under there...and the TV...that's a losing battle if ever I saw one...turn your back for a moment and the screen's once again covered in a hazy film of dust but hey the world definitely looks a brighter and more in focus place when the windows are sparkly clean. A real feeling of job satisfaction when it's all done but it's not going to stay that way is it and I have no intention of swopping the crafty tools for marigolds and a feather duster on a regular basis but there may be a solution...I need my very own Mollie Maid and who better for the job than The Furry Boy with his fabulous "just the job" huge feather duster of a tail. Some sweet talking and lots of treat might just persuade him to do a daily whizz around but I may have to move anything smashable out of harm's way first.
Today's going to be a sofa day...coffee and cake helping me to cope with yet another chore...writing out the christmas cards but first I need to find  a pen...why can I never lay my hands on a pen when I need one so before I call out a search party to turn the house upside down...it's time to share another DT card for this month's Ribbon Girl Colour Challenge...a snowflake card with a difference...

I'll see you all tomorrow when I'll be sharing a mega photo fest of Sizzix/Hero Arts projects...

Domestic Goddess...my foot

Hi everyone...it's your favourite bundle of golden deliciousness...have you missed me...it's been such a long time since I've popped on to keep you up to speed with the goings on in the cubbyhole...mind you my old crafty Mum has been rather hogging the computer lately with all that crafty stuff and surprise surprise suddenly my waffling skills are required urgently to save the day...apparently the pot of crafty stuff to share is well and truly empty after yesterday's mad cleaning everything in sight shenanigans. Domestic goddess my foot...how hard can it be to waft a duster around for a few hours but it seems to have tuckered the duster-buster out...she's still snuggled up under the duvet but wait until she finds out that all her efforts seem to have been in vain...yes the pesky stuff is already settling back in as we speak.
But yesterday wasn't all work...we had a fun cold and frosty morning stroll in my favourite place...guaranteed to wake us up and blow away the cobwebs...
no sign of my bunny friends...probably all snuggled up underground
all this frosty foliage doesn't half numb my sniffing nose...

but it's time to head home...
for a little treat....
and if I play my cards right...a share of the breakfast toast...
But now I have to go and get the sleepy head out of bed ready for this morning's stroll and I may have to use all my doggy persuasion...she's not going to be filled with joy to see that it's bucketing down with rain
See you all soon

Whoop..de..doo-

Hi folks...it's the weekend and whoop-de-doo the first one for a while that I'll be spending at home...I'm planning a craft free weekend catching up with all the things that have been neglected while I sneak off to play with lots of crafty folks but there's a problem...where do I start...the kitchen needs a load of spit and polish...the ironing pile is scary...the cupboards are just as empty as Old Mother Hubbard's...the garden could do with a bit of a tidy and then there's Christmas to think about....crikey this time next month it will be Christmas Eve.
But before I rush off to don the marigolds and do my best impression of a domestic goddess...time to share another Christmas with Fiskars project...a tag I made for the Fiskarettes Blog...

I'll see you all tomorrow if I haven't taken to my bed with shock after a day of real work
