Paperbabe Stamps Winner & Friday's News

well the car's loaded up all ready for my road trip today...I'll be chugging down the motorway to the metropolis that is Glasgow for an overnight stay and then Mr Fuse (or to give him his Sunday name)...The Fiskars Fuse Creativity System and this crafty old girl will be strutting our stuff at Hobbycraft Glasgow tomorrow...if you're in the area why don't you pop along and say hello...we would love to meet you and show you what this boy can do.
I've loved working with the new dies that arrived last week but there was one and there's always one isn't there that had me completely stumped because the flowers are a tad on the large side...
let's just say you wouldn't get many of them to the pound...way too big for my style of cardmaking and it wasn't until I was searching for something to pack the piles of die cutting materials into that I had one of my "of course you Numptie...why didn't you think of that before" lightbult moments. The perfect solution had been staring me in the face all the time...a cheap as chips but great quality and value for money at £2.99 hessian tote I bought at Hobbycraft was calling out to be decorated...
but this is a chemically etched die...one of the range only suitable for cardstock or paper unlike the steel rule dies which will cut almost anything...that's fabric out of the equation then so I set to work with thickish cardstock, diecutting embossing and letterpressing different designs...sticking the flowers down with strong Fabric PVA adhesive...decorating with buttons and ribbons and voila I rather like it...

I realise that cardstock flowers are going to have a limited life...not entirely practical and certainly not suitable for taking out in a torrential downpour but neither would hessian be...this is going to be my Fuse Materials Demo Bag not an everday workhorse of a bag so I'm sure it will be fine for the purpose I'll be using it for. But I'll love you and leave you for today and I'll be checking in with you all tomorrow just so you know this intrepid traveller/adventurer has arrived in one piece and fingers crossed without incident.

    Congratulations to Karen. Love your bag Kath, and as you said Hessian is not suitable for a wet day anyway and so your pretty flowers are safe. The flowers would also look good on a cushion and could be stitched on. Have a Good Day. Hugs Rita xxxxx
