Let's have a Sing-A-Long...

Hi folks...yesterday's play day turned out a little bit different than what I'd originally planned...how could I refuse an invitation from my gorgeous grandson Brodie to attend the Open Afternoon at his primary school...a chance to see the project he and his classmates are working on...Mary Queen of Scots no less...a lady with an interesting and notorious life which led to 3 marriages...many liasions and her eventual execution in 1587 but history was never this interesting in my school days...there were themed board games to play and a chance to try your hand at a bit of "Mary Queen of Scots" crafting...painting a watercolour stained glass window which would have been well within my capabilities OR draw and colour in a portrait of this much maligned monarch...oh bother...I'm sure you can guess which one I was allocated...definitely a case of drawing (forgive the pun) the short straw...yep I may be a professional crafty person but I can't draw for toffee...hence my love of ready made stampie things...the pressure was on...the expectations were high...let's just say it was an absolute disaster...bore absolutely no resemblance to the lady in question...crafty Grandma was bottom of the class...in the corner with the dunce's cap on...sorry Brodie and I totally agree with your comment "Grandma...that's not very good is it".
The afternoon ended with a fun Mums Dads Grandmas Grandads and kids sing-a-long in the hall and with a bit of divine intervention...Grandma is back at the top of the brownie points league table...Brodie was very impressed that I knew the words to a good old Scottish favourite...a fun catchy sing-a-long song that I learned at the age of 5 at my mother's knee...
Doon In The Wee Room Underneath The Stairs...

it's amazing what you can dig out from the depths of your memory when your reputation's at stake and your back's up against the wall.  Click on the video at your peril...I can guarantee you'll be singing...humming or whilstling this tune all day.
And I'll be back in the cubbyhole this morning...you could say my very own "wee room underneath the stairs" for today's back up against the wall challenge..
I've got a certain Penny Black Saturday DT card...
to finish off and photograph before I whizz off for a "kicking up my heels" day with the Friday girls...fingers crossed for some more divine intervention inspiration.
If all goes well I'll see you all tomorrow over at Penny Black Saturday
