A Sad day in the cubbyhole...

Hi folks...I've worked in the craft industry for many years and it's not always easy to keep all the plates spinning...juggling work/magazine deadlines and Design Team commitments with the day to day personal life stuff and I've been thinking for sometime that changes are long overdue. So now that my year on the Inspiration Emporium DT has come to an end...I've decided not to stay on for another term and have also decided to step down from The Ribbon Girl and Craftstash teams...I'm taking some time out to try to restore a more manageable work life balance.
It hasn't been an easy decision but sometimes you have to listen to your head instead of your heart... I'm feeling incredibly sad as I put pen to paper because it's been great fun and I've made wonderful friendships along the way...a huge thank you to the lovely Mary and Andrea at The Ribbon Girl and all my team mates (I've been with these very special girls since they opened their online store in 2010 so this was the hardest decision of all) and everyone at Craftstash for giving me the opportunity to work with their fabulous products and to Joy and her family at Inspiration Emporium for their kindness and generosity and my wonderful talented IE team mates for their friendship and support...I will miss you all lots.
But you should know by now...I don't do things by halves...changes are a-foot in the blog department too...having blogged daily since February 2008...the everyday diary format will be no more...we're going from Page-A-Day to something more in tune with Week-To-View or something in between...giving you all a break from the becoming more common fill-in waffling posts. I do sometimes wonder how relevant blogging is now compared to Facebook Twitter and Pinterest but for now...you're stuck with me and The Furry Boy...just not so often.
And when you're feeling down in the dumps there's no better therapy than a little bit of crafting so I'm off to the cubbyhole for some "just for me" playtime...see you later in the week.
Hugs Kath xxx

  6. I think these are all very sensible work life balance decisions Kath. Glad to hear that you will still be blogging. ....after 5 years I still love the blogging world and for me Twitter Instagram etc are just not the same way to share our artistic world. Long live blogging but I agree writing a post every single day must become more hard work than fun! Happy September xx

  10. You do seem to be a very busy lady and I don't know how you manage it all. I quite understand as you don't want crafting to become too much, there are other things in life. I shall miss your daily posts but was worried you were giving up blogging altogether, so glad you will still keep us entertained. Blogging seems as popular as ever I think, love catching up with everyone on blogs and also on FB. Take care xx

  11. I hope you feel the benefits of the change Kath, and I do hope that we still hear from you, and of course your helper, Buddy, I think it's the best thing to do, re-charge the batteries and go from there....enjoy...xxx

  12. I made the same decision a while back, and as you know I found it liberating. The world didn't stop turning because I wasn't breaking my neck to blog every day and I enjoyed getting off the treadmill. You will have more time to get up to all sorts of new adventures to regale us with when you blog about them, and we will all be here to read and laugh as usual
    Good decision my friend

  22. Leaning a DT is so hard. We are all family. I get it. But you do need to step back and reboot. We give all the time when we create.

  23. Sometimes we all should take a step back and indulge in some "me" time. Creativity can totally flourish when you give it a little space to grow. I am looking forward to all that you share whether it be daily, weekly or monthly! Be true to yourself and have fun! ~chris

  26. I will definitely miss your blog every day, you always cheer me up with your daily antics and missives! Like you I will miss the IE team too but I have to say, since I cut down (just a few days ago) on doing so much blogging I already feel a good deal better for it and actually spent a whole day crafting yesterday - a whole day!! It was quite liberating. I will keep an eye out on FB for any posts you do so that I don't miss them whilst on my 'break'. Big hugs, Anne xxxx

  28. Even though I don't comment often I loved reading your and Buddy's posts but at the same time wondererd how you managed to do it every single day in combination with everything else coming out the cubby hole.
I soooooooooo don't like FB and it's a shame blogging has become less ever since but you made the right decision.........enjoy your free time and I look forward to updates and stunning creations from time to time Kath.

  29. Kath and Buddy,
I will truly miss you, I liked the little deviations from the "craft" blog to sharing little bits of your life. The shopping trips, the vacations with the grand kids and of course the "craft" shows, and classes. I don't do FB, Twitter or the other people.
Please enjoy your free time and I will look forward to your posts when you post them. Stay crafty and help keep us crafty.
    From across the pond,
    Diane

  31. Hi Kath,
You don't know me, but I do know your buddy Enfys. I've had morning coffee and read your blog so many years now I forget when I started. Just to say, I will sorely miss it - if I wake up here in the US in the middle of the night it's already there and I take a peek before I get back to sleep. I love hearing about your dog and your travels with your buddies on Friday - even if it is not crafting stuff. So if you are only going to let us have a sneaky peek at your life once a week (a DRASTIC reduction!! ha!!) I hope you will keep us posted about your golden bundle of deliciousness doggie and how you are doing, too. I will very much miss your posts, and hope that you will sneak in maybe twice a week. :-) Wishing you all the best. I feel like I know you even though we have never met.

  32. I so love coming to your blog everyday and checking in on you and Buddy. I love to get inspiration from all your projects but don't know how yow do everything. I think I last blogged in January - as you say so many other ways to share projects etc. You are so right - you need to prioritise and be able to have a little free time and not constantly chasing deadlines xxx

  33. I am so sad to see your term at Inspiration Emporium come to an end. It has been a real privilege to call you a teammate and friend! I really have enjoyed your daily shenanigans with furry boy! Converting to weekly or so posts makes me happy I still get to pop in on you in blogland and Facebook! Big Hug!

  34. As much as I will miss your posts, I totally understand. In fact I dont know how you have managed to do it for so long!

  35. It's been a joy to read your blog daily, and quite honestly I've often wondered how you kept up with so much! You deserve to cut back and enjoy yourself more. I'm just glad you're not leaving completely like many others have. Hugs to you and the "furboy".

  36. Wow - I don't blame you... I keep thinking I want to downscale my DT duties, and they're nothing compared to yours - a daily commitment would be a road to insanity for me! Your amazing creativity is always appreciated, and will be just as much fun in less regular doses. I bet you'll find a whole new lease of creative life having freed yourself from some of those commitments.
