Would You Believe...

Hi folks...would you believe I've been a bit reluctant to return to work after the festivities but I've run out of delaying tactics and the project for the Fiskars Workshop at the NEC in March is now snapping at my heels...
the problem is Mr Mojo has only just returned from his Christmas break and too many lazy couch potato days have taken their toll. And the weather hasn't helped either...the UK has been well and truly battered by Mother Nature over the last few weeks...I know that other areas have also been badly affected by flooding but when it's in your own back yard it's a shocking hard to believe wake up call and it's heartbreaking to see some of the places I visit regularly so badly affected...
one of my favourite shopping destinations Rustiques flooded...
the Cambus O' May bridge totally destroyed...
Braemar was totally cut off when the A93 disappeared into the river...
Abergeldie Castle has withstood the elements for 450 years but is now in real danger of collapsing into the river...
and Ballater...a favourite destination for Friday Girls' outings has been particulary badly hit
but three cheers for the ordinary folks who have gone above and beyond to assist in any way they can...for the emergency services who have worked tirelessly to make life more bearable by organising food and clothing banks...setting up emergency kitchens and the local hotels and residents for providing food and accommodation for the poor folks whose lives have been turned upside down and for local courier companies and supermarkets for providing drivers and vehicles to transport food donations...without them life would be a whole lot bleaker. Shame on the Government and Councillors for being so slow to react to what has been a national disaster and with no sign of any let up in the weather...the horrendous devastation and turmoil for all those affected is certainly not over.
Feeling very humbled and thankful that after today's soggy doggy strolls I'll be returning to a safe warm dry home.
Hugs Kath xxx

OMG Kath, can't believe those photos!! Just on our way back from a super hot Oz (seeing the grandies) and well out of touch with UK weather conditions, unbelievable.....

Good luck with getting back into the swing of things and Happy New Year, - it can only get better from here....

Oh Kath, I had no idea your country was experiencing flooding. I used to live back in Illinois where there is much flooding also. I feel so sorry for anyone going through this. They certainly need much help . Praying they will get the help quickly. So sorry some of your favorite places have been affected.

Thinking of you Kath and your beautiful part of Scotland. It is truly devastating what has happened and the way the residents are trying to help one another is wonderful, given the circumstances. Stay safe my friend. Hugs Rita xxxxx

OMG,those pics really bring it home to you don't they especially when it's on your own doorstep, truly heartbreaking.Almost feel guilty, that we are not effected and helpless watching it all in the comfort of our homes on the tv.Can't really comprehend what those poor families who have lost everything are going through, some people have not recovered from the last lot of flooding let alone all this going on.
I do hope Mr Mojo returns soon, can't wait to see your creations,do hope you are all ok and Buddy of course.Huge Hugs to all.xxx

Glad to hear that you are safe & sound but it is amazing the amount of devastation that has taken place so close to you. It is wonderful to hear that the communities are pulling together to help folk but it is shameful that Govt. assistance is so slow appearing.

My goodness Kath. Had no idea that you guys across the pond were having such severe weather. So sorry. Here in the good ole US, we too have been experiencing Mother Natures wrath. We have been in a 4 yr. drought here in So. California and all of a sudden things are turning around and no one is prepared for all the rain we are having as the El Nino has arrived. Tons of flooding here also. Seems it is either feast of fathom. Fortunately for us, we are located in the mountains and are high enough not to create any flooding of our home, however, we still have to commute through several of the areas that are not as fortunate. Happy New Year Kath and looking forward to your return to the craft room. Above all else, stay safe and no more tangling with your garage door. Give the furry boy a pat and hug for me as well.
Hugs,
Marcie
