Treat Bag/Box

Hi Everyone...it's Monday and of course that means it's time to head on over to the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog...thank you for joining us for last week's "Halloween" challenge...we hope you will join in the fun this week too...

and the theme for this week is...
TREAT BAG/BOX
and with Halloween only a few weeks away I decided to make a Trick or Treat bag full of spooky goodies for the grandkiddos...

I found a pile of "cheap as chips" kraft bags hidden away in the dark and dingy depths of the cubbyhole...yes the same place that the spiders hang out and gave it a coat of black gesso for a spookier look...
I trimmed paper from Tim holtz Materialize Stash Pad to fit the front and had lots of messy finger painting fun with Carved Pumpkin and Twisted Citron Distress Paints and then used Mini Layering Stencil Set 23 and Opaque Matte Texture Paste to create the word panel.
Once the texture paste was dry, I painted a coat of black gesso over the panel and wiped it back from the lettering with a baby wipe leaving a shadow in the background. Then it was time for more finger painting to colour the lettering followed by a generous splattering of Black Soot and Picket Fence Distress Paints. I added a strip of Materialize paper to left side and used the Black Soot Distress Crayon to darken the edges of the paper.
I used Dina Wakley Soft Gel Medium Matte to fix down the cheesecloth...added an Idea-ology Broomstick...a witches hat die cut from black cardstock using Crazy Things Thinlits and half an Idea-ology Pumpkin...it was quite easy to chop in half with a craft knife and gave me a flat surface to apply adhesive.
I used Tim Holtz Halloween Shadows Decorative Strip to die cut the "Trick or Treat" from Materialize paper coloured with Twisted Citron and Carved Pumpkin Distress Paints...die cut again from black card to create a shadow and added spooky bats and googly eyes.

  17. This is extremely clever (why am I not surprised?) I think this bag has never looked better and I love how it's whimsical and sophisticated at the same time. You are a master of layering and I always enjoy the attention to detail in your projects.
