Simon Says - Animal Magic

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog...thank you for joining us for last week's challenge...we hope you can join us this week too because...

Tim Holtz is the featured brand of the month over on the Simon Says Stamp Store Blog and the Design Team  are showcasing some of his fabulous products this week!

and the theme for this week is...
ANIMAL MAGIC
I decorated a Dina Wakley Canvas Media Board with Tim Holtz/Sizziz Chapter 3 Christmas dies to create an 8" x 8" Christmas for very special friends card, one which could be framed perhaps or used as a Christmas Home Decor item.

I began by trimming the Canvas Media Board to 7.3/4"" x 7.3/4" and applied a coat of White Gesso using a palette knife to create a slightly uneven surface.
I wanted the background to be quite light, so decided to go with a neutral colour palette and use the watercolor smooshing technique. I pressed the Antique Linen Distress Oxide ink pad on to a piece of plastic, spritzed with water, laid on to the panel, pressed down with my fingers to spread the ink around and dried with my heat tool.
I repeated the process with Old Paper and Pumice Stone Distress Oxide inks, drying between each layer and added splatters of Antique Linen and Pumice Stone. If you wanted the background to be darker, just add more layers but remember to dry in between.
I die-cut a circle mask and applied Vintage Photo Distress Oxide ink using a mini round blending tool around the mask to create a moon, faded the colour out over the entire panel, flicked on droplets of water and patted with kitchen towel to absorb the excess water.
I inked the music background from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Music & Adverts with Ground Espresso Distress Archival and stamped randomly on the background.
I die-cut Festive Repeat from Gold Classic KraftStock Metallic
tore into strips and fixed in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte along with Crochet Thinlits die-cut from Distresss Mixed Media Heavystock, coloured with the same colour Distress Oxides I used for the background with the addition of Ground Espresso.
I die-cut Tim Holtx/Sizzix Reindeer BigZ 4 times from Distress Mixed Media Heavystock, fixed together and coloured with Frayed Burlap and Vintage Photo Distress Oxide inks
I die-cut Tim Holtz/Sizzix Layered Pine BigZ from Idea-ology Corrugated Textured Surfaces and Substrate Sheet
I applied a light coat of Distress Collage Medium Matte over the panel, randomly on the Reindeer and Layered Pine, sprinkled with Stampendous Frantage Chunky White Embossing Enamel and heat set.
I fixed left over waste pieces from the Festive Repeat die-cut on the panel using Distress Collage Medium Matte and added the Reindeer and Layered Pine popped up on Tim Holtz/Sizzix Mini Foam Adhesive to create dimension.
I die-cut 3 Large Funky Festive Thinlits flowers from white card, coloured with Ground Espresso and Vintage Photo Distress Oxide inks and fixed in place with Sizzix Mini Foam Adhesive.
I wound white twine around the panel, created a hanging bauble using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Circle Words Thinlits die-cut from white card, card coloured with Vintage Photo and Ground Espresso Distress Oxide inks and Gold Classic KraftStock Metallic. I fixed the bauble in place with Distress
Collage Medium Matte, added a twine bow, an Idea-ology Tiny Bell to the reindeer and matted the panel on to a 8/1.4" Brown Card Blank
