Simon Says Stamp March Card Kit - Take 2

Hi my friends, I'm back to share another two "watercolor pencil adventure" cards using items from Simon Says Stamp March Card Kit - Stronger Together. At the time of posting, the kit is still available but if you don't want to buy the kit, individual items can be purchased separately and are listed in the links below.

For the first card, I used the Floral Suzy Plantamura Watercolor panel included in the kit and coloured using the Darice Watercolor pencils and a Distress Detailer Brush. I added a few splatters by picking up colour from one of the brown pencils with a wet brush and flicking on to the panel.
I inked the sentiment from the Stronger Together stamp set with Simon Says Stamp Intense Black ink, stamped in the corner and matted the panel on to an A2 Kraft Blank.
For the second card,, I trimmed Distress Watercolor card to be slightly smaller than an A2 Kraft card blank.
I stamped the floral image with Antique Linen Distress ink and coloured with the Watercolor Pencils. I stamped the heart image, also from the stamp set, inked with Worn Lipstick Distress ink and added splatters of the same ink on the background.
I stamped the sentiment with Simon Says Stamp Intense Black ink and matted the panel on to an A2 Kraft Card blank.
Have fun whatever you're doing this weekend and I'll see you all on Monday to share my DT project for Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge.
Toodle-oo for now

Simon Says Stamp March Card Kit...

Hi my friends, yesterday I took a little break from my usual style of crafting to have a little play with the Simon Says Stamp March Card Kit - Stronger Together, packed to the brim as always with lots of goodies including a pack of 24 Water Color Pencils. The kit is still available at the time of posting but if you don't want to purchase the kit, individual items are available to buy separately and are listed in the links below.
Water colouring with any medium, let alone, watercolour pencils is not really my thing but hey ho, I decided to give it a go but with that wise old saying - don't run before you can walk - in mind, started off with 2 very very simple cards.
and it doesn't come much simpler than Card No 1
I die-cut one of the Moda Scrap Spring Flowers 6" x 6" papers that came in the kit with Simon Says Stamp Wonky Rectangles die, inked the tall image from the Stronger Together stamp set with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Ranger Superfine White Embossing Powder. I coloured the leaves with one of the Darice Watercolor pencils fading the colour out with a water brush.
I die-cut the Simon Says Stamp Bold Hello also included in the kit, 9 times from Simon Says Stamp #120 Ultra White card and stacked to create 3 dimensional sentiments.
I stamped the Hello, Friend sentiment from the stamp set with Simon Says Stamp Intense Black and trimmed, using just Friend. I fixed the Hello die cuts and stamped sentiment in place using Simon Says Stamp Craft Tacky Glue, also included in the kit and added the panel to an A2 White Card Blank.
I was feeling a little bolder on Card No 2
I trimmed Distress Watercolor card to be slightly smaller than an A2 Kraft card blank, stamped the same tall image from the stamp set with Antique Linen Distress Oxide ink, coloured with the Darice Watercolor pencils, faded out the colour using a waterbrush and dried. I used a dark brown water color pencil to added the stems and some shadows.
I picked up colour from the watercolor pencil I used for the leaves using with the water brush, repeating until there was enough colour to apply a wash to a scrap of Distress Watercolor card. I die-cut the Hello from a scrap of Kraft card and the coloured scrap and layered slightly offset to create dimension and a hint of a shadow. I stamped the sentiment as before using Vintage Photo Distress Archival ink, fixed both in place using Simon Says Stamp Craft Tackky Glue and matted the panel on to the card blank.
Have a great weekend everyone whatever you have planned and I'll be back tomorrow to share another two "venturing into the world of watercolor pencils" makes.

Wild About You...

Hi my friends, today I'm sharing another Sizzix make for Creativation 2020 and the Facebook Live Launch of Tim Holtz/Sizzix Chapter 2 release combining the adorable Winifred from the Chapter 2  Colorize Collection and Falling Hearts Thinlits from Chapter 1. If you missed the Facebook Live Launch, you can catch up with all the products and inspirational samples over on Tim's Blog HERE.

I began by cutting chipboard to be slightly smaller than the box frame and covered with Tim Holtz Idea-ology French Industrial Paper. I trimmed Idea-ology Abandoned Paper to be slightly smaller and used the Falling Hearts Thinlits die to die-cut the top and bottom edges of the paper. I ripped the paper to fit the edges of the panel and fixed in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte.
I added the waste hearts tumbling down the edges of the die-cut strips
I fixed Tim Holtz/Sizzix Adhesive Sheets to the back of Distress Watercolor card and Tim Holtz Idea-ology Classic KraftStock and die-cut all the pieces to create Winifred. The latest Colorize Thinlits have less pieces than the previous releases and are so much easier to put together. I added light shadows to the edges of the white die-cut pieces using Walnut Stain Distress ink and a mini round blending tool before assembling.
I fixed Winifred to the panel, popped up on Tim Holtz/Sizzix Mini Foam Adhesive to create dimension
I die-cut the large words from Distress Watercolor Card 4 times using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Alphanumeric Classic Thinlits, stacked to create dimension, added large hearts die-cut from Abandoned Paper and Distress Watercolor Card and Alphanumeric Tiny Type Lower letters. To finish I added Idea-ology Gumdrop Hearts and fixed the panel inside the box frame using Mini Foam Adhesive.

Simon Says Stamp - Inspired By Music

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because

and the theme for this week is...
INSPIRED BY MUSIC
I created an Art Journal page dedicated to my morning musical alarm call which makes sure I start each day with a song. Not the radio, I hasten to add, which I could switch to mute and snuggle up for another half hour, but the more persistent Mother Nature's dawn chorus and the chubby little thrush who exercises his vocal cords outside my bedroom window every morning. I used Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Field Notes and Music and Advert, Tim Holtz/Sizzix Feathered Friends, Media Marks and Alphanumeric Tiny Type Upper and Lower Thinlits.
The plan was to create a simple, white space page, something I struggle with but hey I think I pulled it off despite having to retreat to the kitchen several times throughout the process, to help me resist that urge to throw everything at it.

I began by trimming Dina Wakley Cotton Watercolor paper to fit my Dina Wakley Media Journal. I inked the images from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Field Notes with Ground Espresso Distress Archival ink and stamped the first image on to the Cotton Watercolor panel and all the images on to  masking paper. I trimmed out the images from the masking paper, masked off the first image, stamped the rest of the images, masking off each one as I went. Once all the images were stamped and masked, I stamped the Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Music and Advert background and removed all the masks.
I smooshed Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide ink on to my Glass Media Mat, spritzed with water, picked up the colour on a piece of acetate and transferred to the panel. I repeated the process with Antique Linen, Wilted Violet and Fossilized Amber, drying each colour before moving on to the next.

To create the illusion of depth, I used a Distress Detailer Brush with Walnut Stain Distress ink to paint around the images, fading the colour out with water.
I die-cut Tim Holtz/Sizzix Media Marks Thinlits from Idea-ology Classic Kraftstock and fixed in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte along with some stray strands from the edge of the burlap page in the journal.
I added splatters of Ground Espresso Distress Paint and die-cut the bird from Distress Watercolor paper using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Feathered Friends Thinlits, coloured with Antique Linen, Vintage Photo and Ground Espresso Distress inks using a mini round blending tool. I fixed the bird in place with Tim Holtz.Sizzix Mini Foam Adhesive and added highlights with a Sakura White Gelly Roll Pen.

I stamped the Music and Advert background inked with Ground Espresso Distress Archival ink on the facing page and coloured in the same way.

I fixed Tim Holtz/Sizzix Adhesive Sheet to the back of Idea-ology Classic KraftStock and a Sticky Grid sheet to the front which held the Alphanumeric Tiny Type Upper and Lower Thinlits in place, preventing them from jumping around.
I die-cut the letters, peeled back the adhesive carrier sheet and placed on strips of left over Cotton Watercolor paper.

I trimmed the words, fixed to the page with Distress Collage Medium Matte and created shadows using Walnut Stain Distress ink and a Distress Detailer Brush.

Team Work Makes The Dream Work

Hi my friends, the first batch of Easter cards and gift bags for Brodie's Machu Picchu World Challenge 2021 fund raising has rolled off the production line. It's true that many hands make light work, team work certainly makes the dream work and it was great fun having Brodie join me in the cubbyhole for this crafty session.
And lesson learned from past experiences, crafty makes certainly flow off the production line faster if you keep things simple. We began by adding a panel of  WERMK paper from an "as old as the hills" box of 12 x 12 papers to A2 kraft card blanks and the left over strips to Kraft Gift Bags. We stamped the bird from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Bird Crazy on to Distress Watercolor card, coloured with Distress Inks and Distress Markers, die- cut using the matching set of Thinlits, added Ranger Glossy Accents to the eyes and fixed in place with Tim Holtz/Sizzix Mini Foam Adhesive. While my new cubbyhole companion die-cut and coloured the centres of Tim Holtz/Sizzix Small Tattered Florals assisted by the trusty Sidekick, I die-cut the Alphanumeric 1" Tall Thinlits and Simon Says Stamp Happy Wafer Thin Die for the sentiment.
Then it was time for the Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Crazy Birds assembly line to kick into gear.

We finished with stamping "Happy" from Simon Says Stamp Some Bunny stamp set inked with Simon Says Intense Black ink on to the card panel.
But all work and no play is no fun at all, so there was lots of chatting, much giggling, many pit stops along the way for coffee/tea and snacks and a quick trip to Subway for lunch. After packing and labelling our day's makes, two very tired crafters tidied up the debris, called it a day and retreated to the kitchen to enjoy a yummy pizza for tea and some chill out time watching TV.
