Simon Says Stamp - Spring Mood Board

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because

As you may know, the Simon Says Stamp Store is accepting new orders, but have longer shipping times for the moment due to the coronavirus. With this in mind we have made the difficult decision to suspend the $50 voucher for this challenge. We know that many people are staying safe at home and we would love it if you would continue to enter the challenges and have fun! We are all in this together!

We have a beautiful
SPRING MOOD BOARD
to inspire you this week
I created a botanical panel to add to the kraft page in my Dina Wakley Media Journal using lots of the new Tim Holtz products from Ranger, Stampers Anonymous and Idea-ology.

I began by trimming Distress Cracked Leather Cardstock to measure 4.1/2" x 6.1/2" and spritzed with Antique Linen and Old Paper Spray Stains to create a soft coloured background and I think a new addiction and a love for this gorgeous textured effect has been born.
I inked the script stamp from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Flower Shop with Peeled Paint Distress Oxide ink, sprinkled with the matching colour of Distress Embossing Glaze and heat set.
I applied Distress Crackle Texture Paste through the Bouquet Layering Stencil, sprinkled with Tattered Rose and Fossilized Amber Distress Embossing Glazes, tapped on the back of the panel gently with my fingers to mix the powders up a little bit and set aside to wait for the Texture Paste to dry.
I used my heat tool to melt the Embossing Glazes, spritzed the texture paste sections with Vintage Photo Distress Spray Stain and sprayed water to soften out the stain from the edges of the texture paste. I dabbed the paste with kitchen towel to remove any excess stain.

I placed a piece of Field Notes Ephemera on the panel, applied Peeled Paint Distress Oxide ink through the Digits Layering Stencil using a mini round blending tool, sprinkled with Peeled Paint and Walnut Stain Embossing Glazes and heat set. I flicked on splatters of Vintage Photo Distress Spray Stain and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide Spray using the plastic tubes from the bottles.
I sanded the edges of the Ephemera panels, fixed them in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte and added a twine bow.
I added the bee and mushrooms from the Field Notes Ephemera pack popped up on Tim Holtz/Sizzix Mini Foam Adhesive to create dimension.
I tapped the Distress Embossing Dabber on to a Theories Quote Chip, sprinkled with Peeled Paint and Fossilized Amber Distress Embossing Glazes, wiped away some of the glaze with my finger and heat set. I sanded the edges to match in with the Ephemera panels and fixed in place with Mini Foam Adhesive.
I fixed the panel to the kraft page in the journal using Distress Collage Medium, added Idea-ology Specimen Remnant Rubs and doodled around the edges using a Sakura Micron Pen

Follow Your Heart

Hi my friends, I'm back to share a card I made with the left over background from my Tim Holtz/Ranger Ink Alcohol/Alcohol Alloy inks playtime the other day, using it to die-cut Tim Holtz/Sizzix Tattered Butterflies to sit on a Tim Holtz/Sizzix Brickwork 3D Texture Fade vellum panel.

I trimmed a panel of Idea-ology Black Classic KraftStock to 4.1/2" x 6.1/2" and sanded to reveal the kraft core. I placed vellum in the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Brickwork 3D Texture Fade and ran through my Sizzix Big Shot. I tore the edges of the vellum to create a smaller panel
I fixed the vellum in place using dots of Distress Collage Medium Matte where the butterflies and Quote Chip were to be fixed.
I added drops of Gumball, Ember and Dijon Alcohol inks and a drop of Gilded Alcohol Alloy ink to an Alcohol Ink Applicator tool and pounced on to a 5" x 7" panel of Distress HeavyStock White Yupo paper. I added drops of Blending Solution and Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol, moved the inks around using the Alcohol Ink Air Blower and set aside to dry.
I trimmed the panel in half and check out that amazing shine from the Gilded Alcohol Alloy ink
I die-cut two of the smaller butterflies using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Tattered Butterflies BigZ die and contrary to what I usually say about using a heat tool with Yupo paper, I heated the butterflies until the Yupo became pliable so that I could shape and curl the wings.
I used the Distress Embossing Dabber to add ink to the Idea-ology Theories Quote Chip, sprinkled with Fossilized Amber Distress Embossing Glaze, removed some of the glaze from the edges with my finger and heat set. I then scribbled over the Quote Chip with a Fired Brick Distress Crayon, pushing the crayon into the texture of the Embossing Glaze and wiped gently with kitchen towel to remove some of the crayon. Tim demonstrates this technique on his Distress Crayons Facebook Live HERE.
I added splatters of Tarnished Brass and Antiqued Bronze Distress Mica Sprays to the panel, fixed to a panel of Idea-ology Metallic KraftStock and matted on to a 5" x 7" white card blank covered with Idea-ology Classic KraftStock. I fixed the butterflies and Quote Chip to the vellum panel using Distress Collage Medium Matte, added highlights to the butterfly bodies, die-cut from Idea-ology BlackOut KraftStock using a Sakura White Gelly Roll Pen and Idea-ology Tiny Text Remnant Rubs.
I added drops of Gilded Alcohol Alloy ink to an Idea-ology Gumdrop Heart
and added Glossy Accents to the butterfly bodies.

Have a great weekend everyone, whatever you plan on doing in this stay-at-home, self isolating world we now live in. If the weather is kind, I'm hoping to spend some chill out time in my garden. I'll see you all on Monday to share my DT project for Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge and what a great opportunity, if you are cooped up at home, to join us and take part in the challenges with a chance to win a $50 spending spree over at Simon Says Stamp.
Stay Safe

Time For A Vacation...

Hi my friends, I'm sharing the last project I made for Creativation 2020 and the Tim Holtz Facebook Live featuring Sizzix Chapter 2 dies using the adorable Gertrude Colorize Thinlits and Baggage Claim BigZ die. If you missed the Facebook Live, you can check out all the amazing products coming your way on April 1st and the inspirational samples over on Tim's blog HERE.
I began by fixing Tim Holtz/Sizzix Adhesive Sheets to Idea-ology Classic KraftStock which I sanded back to reveal the kraft core and die-cut all the pieces from different colours of KraftStock using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Gertrude Colorize Thinlits.
The Adhesive Sheets make it so easy to build up the layers when constructing any of the Colorize Thinlits and especially useful when it comes to fixing down the teeny weeny bits and pieces.
I covered a Vignette Tray with Tim Holtz Idea-ology Abandoned papers using Distress Collage Medium Matte, sanded the edges to get rid of any excess paper and fixed Idea-ology Chatter Design Tape to neaten the edges. I applied a coat of Distress Collage Medium Matte over the Design Tape to ensure it stayed in place. I used Tim Holtz/Sizzix Baggage Claim BigZ dies to die-cut the suitcases, handles, buckles and closures from Sizzix Matboard, various colours of Classic Kraftstock, sanded back to reveal the kraft core and Metallic 1 KraftStock, fixed the KraftStock die-cuts to the Matboard die-cuts using Distress Collage Medium Matte to create chunkier and more stable suitcases and inked the edges with Ground Espresso Distress Ink. I fixed Idea-ology Ephemera to the back of the Vignette Tray popped up on Tim Holtz/Sizzix Mini Foam Adhesive and added die-cut letters to spell the word "TRAVEL" die cut from several layers of Distress Watercolor card and Classic KraftStock to create dimension using Tim|Holtz/Sizzix Alphanumeric Classic Thinlits. I fixed the suitcases in place with layers of Tim Holtz/Sizzix Mini Foam Adhesive and added Gertrude along with her Mummy Cloth scarf.
To finish I added Idea-ology Snarky Stickers

I'll be back tomorrow to share another card using the other half of Wednesday's Alcohol Ink and Alcohol Alloy Ink bright and shiny background.
Toodle-oo for now

Stronger Together...

Hi my friends, I'm sharing a card I made with the new Alcohol and Alochol Inks from Tim Holtz, a card with an encouraging message when we are all feeling a little fearful and anxious.  A message that we can get through this if we all stay at home, limit contact with others and practice diligent hygiene. We are all in this together, we all have to make sacrifices and changes to our lives but sadly there are still too many of the "I'm OK, sod everyone else-I will go where I choose and do what I like" people out there who don't seem to grasp the seriousness of the situation and unfortunately they have yet to discover a cure for stupid.

I trimmed the panel in half and woohoo, look at the sparkle and shine from the Gilded Alcohol Alloy ink.
I inked the sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Stronger Together stamp set with Versamark ink and stamped on to the panel and a strip of Simon Says Stamp Vellum, sprinkled with Ranger Superfine White Embossing Powder and heat set. I tore the vellum so that it would sit in the centre of the panel and the sentiment would line up.
I die-cut the daisy from Distress Watercolor paper using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Wildflower Stems 1 Thinlits
and coloured with Distress Crayons and a Distress Detailer Brush, a reminder from Tim on his Distress Crayon Facebook Live HERE that you can also use Distress Crayons to watercolour.
I realised at this point that the stem of the daisy was going to cover up the sentiment so I cut a slit (not very neatly, I hasten to add) with a craft knife, slipped the stem through and fixed the daisy to the vellum with Distress Collage Medium Matte. I then fixed the vellum to the panel by adding adhesive only behind the flower. I added strips of Tim Holtz Idea-ology Label Tape (be prepared for this new favourite appearing on every project for the foreseeable future) and matted the panel on to Idea-ology BlackOut Kraftstock and fixed to a 4.1/4" x 5.3/4" white card blank.
To finish I added small dots to the vellum using a Sakura White Gelly Roll Pen and the centre of the flower using a Sakura Black Glaze Pen.
and to disguise my clumsy craft knife cutting skills, added a twine bow to the stem of the flower.
I'll be back tomorrow to share the last project I made for Creativation 2020 and the Sizzix Chapter 2 Facebook Live. In the meantime, stay safe and happy crafting.
