Tim Holtz/Sizzix - Brushstroke Butterflies

Hi my friends, I'm sharing a trio of cards I made with the gorgeous Brushstroke Butterflies from the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Chapter 2 release. If you missed the YouTube Live launch, you can watch the replay, check out the must-have new dies and 3D Texture Fades on Tim's YouTube Channel HERE or be inspired by the amazing projects from the Makers which will be shared on Tim's Blog HERE.

I began by die-cutting the Brushstroke Butterflies from panels of Distress Watercolor card from my backgrounds box which were coloured with Villainous Potion, Wild Honey and Cracked Pistachio Distress Paint using my Ranger/Dylusions Gel Printing Plate and Idea-ology Black KraftStock.I assembled the butterflies using the cover photo as a guide for placement. All the pieces for each butterfly are contained in one die, so it makes it pretty easy to figure out what goes where.I trimmed Distress Watercolor card to create 3 - 4" x 5.1/4" panels and smooshed Villianous Potion, Wild Honey and Cracked Pistachio Distress inks on to my Glass Media Mat and spritzed with water. I picked up the Wild Honey Distress ink on a piece of acetate (or a piece of clear packaging would do) and pressed on to each panel, dried and repeated with the other two colours, added more colour where necessary until I was happy with the backgrounds. I applied Villainous Potion and Cracked Pistachio Distress Inks through the Tiles Mini Layering Stencil from Set 9 using mini round blending tools. To add a little more interest to the panels, I stamped the dotted image from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Grunged randomly over the backgrounds, inked with Black Soot Distress Archival.I picked up Distress Collage Medium on my fingers, ran them along the black threads and fixed the threads in place. I added the die-cut butterflies, applying adhesive on one side only to create dimension. I added Idea-ology Sentiments Label Stickers
To finish I matted the panels on to A2 white card blanks covered with panels of Distress Kraft HeavyStock.

I'll be back soon to share the other projects I made for the Live.
Hugs Kath xxx
