and I couldn't have done it without my faithful furry partner who's been there every step of the way, helping out with the tasting and licking the kitchen floor clean goodness knows how many times...a real "taking one for the team" Christmas trouper...
but hey if you're not quite there yet...don't beat yourselves up...it's took me 40 years plus of running around on Christmas Eve like a headless chicken before I managed to perfect the technique.
But as I loaded my fridge with festive food and settled down for a celebratory cuppa next to the Christmas tree with it's carpet of parcels...I was overcome with an overwhelming of sadness for the thousands of refugees displaced from their homes, cold hungry and struggling to survive. It's breaks my heart that the true meaning of Christmas...peace on earth and goodwill to all men...has been long forgotten and as I write this...I'm in tears at the thought of the innocent children who won't be getting a visit from Santa this year.

ReplyDeleteI had my Asda order come yesterday morning, as I sat, surrounded by shopping bags, that advert came on and I don't mind admitting I cried, heaven help those poor little ones....but at least we try.....I hope your Cristmas is a happy and peaceful one...xx
isnt it a great feeling when it's all done Kath we were in Morrisons at 6.30 this morning all done now..... I also feel great a great sadness when thinking of those refugees especially the children ....

You are so kind Kath. When thinking about the refugees, you also have to think about the many people who live in developed countries like ourselves who are also experiencing hardship and who live below the poverty line. Having previously come from a similar situation myself, I know little deeds from strangers can have a positive effect, such as a kind or encouraging word, support of homeless shelters, child poverty charities, and all of those international aid organisations such as unicef.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with you Kath, I think that may be why I don't really feel 'in the spirit' this year, there are so many souls who will have no Christmas at all and my heart goes out to each and every one of them. ReplyDeleteWe collected for the local food bank again this year and despite folk counting the pennies, we still managed to collect a very creditable quantity of goodies for those suffering hardships this festive season. It is terrible in this day & age that so many children suffer from lack of food & warmth.
