and the theme for this week is...
Use More Than One Stencil
This week I returned to my Dylusions Art Journal, a large space, perfect for indulging my love of stencils. I used Tim Holtz Shifter Layering and Mini Layering Stencils to add soft layers of colour and details to the background.
I applied a light coat of White Gesso to the pages and added pieces of the gorgeous Tim Holtz Idea-ology Halloween Collage Paper, fixed in place with Distress Collage Medium. I know this is going to be another favourite and obviously not just for Halloween.
I applied Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide ink through the Stripes Shifter Layering Stencil randomly over the background using a mini round blending tool, avoiding the Collage Paper sections.
I cleaned off the stencil, lined up the grid markings and applied GatheredTwigs to create that cool striped effect
I coloured the Collage Paper with Spiced Marmalade, Gathered Twigs, Twisted Citron and Peeled Paint Distess Oxide inks using a small paintbrush.
I repeated the stencilling process with the Diamonds Layering Stencil using Twisted Citron and Peeled Paint, spritzed with water and blotted off the excess with a paper towel to soften the stencilling slightly.
Then I used the Honeycomb Mini Layering Stencil from Set 8 with Spiced Marmalade.
I stamped the script background from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Entomology inked with Ground Espresso Archival randomly on the background
and for the final stencil, I used the Bubble Mini Layering Stencil from Set 5 with Walnut Stain Distress Oxide.
I stamped one of the insect images from Entomology inked with Black Soot Archivaland added Transparent Alpha Tiles and Quote Chips
