and the theme for this week is...
Monochrome
I trimmed Distress Watercolor card and Tim Holtz Alcohol Yupo Paper to measure 4" x 8". I placed the Distress Watercolor Card in my stamp platform and because some of the stamps were hanging off the edge of paper, I added washi tape alongside the edges of the paper as a guide for placing the Yupo Paper in the exact same place. I removed the Distress Watercolor card at this point without stamping the images.
Monochrome means one colour presented in varying shades and intensities and I decided to use Grey with a little black and white added to make a card for a special friend who has a Winter Birthday using Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Nature's Wonder stamp set which just happened to still be on my workdesk from a previous project and Alcohol Lift Ink.
I dripped Black Alcohol Ink and Silver Metallic Fixative on to my glass mat, added a few drops of Blending Solution and placed the Yupo Paper on top. I then tapped the Yupo Paper back into the inky solution until I was happy with the coverage (similiar to the technique we use with Distress Oxide inks). I picked up the remaining ink with a paper towel and pounced on the Yupo Paper to create a textured look.
I placed the Yupo Paper in the stamp platform using the washi tape as a guide and inked the stamps with Alcohol Lift Ink. I patted the images with a paper towel repeatedly using a clean setion of paper towel until all the excess ink had been removed. I then buffed the panel with a soft cloth. I placed the Distress Watercolor card back in the stamp platform and stamped the images again, transferring the ink that had been removed by the Alcohol Lift Ink.
I coloured the Distress Watercolor Card panel with a light application of Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide ink using a mini round blending tool. I used the Diamonds Shifter Layering Stencil to add details to the backgrounds, using Black Soot and Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide inks on the Distress Watercolor card and Alcohol Lift Re-inker on felt pad with a mini round blending tool on the Yupo Paper.
I stamped the Entomology script with Black Soot Archival and Halftone and Rings with Versamark and heat embossed using Ranger Superfine Clear and White Embossing Powders. I made sure that my heat tool was good and hot and kept it moving to prevent the Yupo Paper warping.
I added Idea-ology Mummy Cloth, phrases cut from Idea-ology Design Tape Chatter and matted the panel on to a 4.1/4" x 8.1/2" card blank coloured with Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide ink and added strips of Design Tape Chatter around the edges.I die cut Tim Holtz/Sizzix Fall Foliage Thinlits from Classic Kraftstock and white card coloured with Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide ink and sanded
and Tim Holtz Sizzix Tiny Tattered Florals Thinlits using the quilling tool which comes with the set to roll up the flowers.
I added a couple of drops of Pitch Black Alcohol Ink to a plastic cup, dropped in Idea-ology Baubles and rolled them around to pick up the colour.
and added to the centre of the flowers using Ranger Glossy Accents.
