Before we move on to the card, did you know that a group of pandas is called an Embarrassment, how very rude, they are the most adorable animals and not in the least bit embarrassing. Or another name is a Bamboo or a Cupboard, I can see where the Bamboo comes from but a Cupboard, seriously, it sounds like someone, opened a dictionary, closed their eyes and picked any old word at random.
So here is my Embarrassment of Pandas all ready for a party
I trimmed Distress Watercolor card to measure 4.1/2" x 6.1/2" and used Tim Holtz Splotches Layering Stencil with Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide ink to decorate the background. I stamped the balloon image and Birthday sentiment from the Party Like A Panda 6" x 8" stamp set with Versafine Onyx Black ink, coloured in the balloon letters with Picked Raspberry using a Distress Detailer Brush and applied Glossy Accents on top. I added splatters of White Gesso, Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Glitter Gloss to some of the stencilled circles and doodled around the edge of the panel with a Sharpie Black Fineliner Pen.I used the Panda die included in the kit to cut a template, traced around the inside edge on to white card and cut out the bases to adhere the die-cut pieces to.
I fixed Tim Holtz/Sizzix Adhesive Sheets on the back of the Flock Transfer Sheets included in the kit and cut into panda sized pieces
I die cut 5 pandas from White Latte and Black Ice Flock Transfer Sheets and puzzle pieced on to the bases. I coloured the noses with a Picked Raspberry Distress Marker. I stamped the party hat image from the stamp set on to scraps of white card, coloured with Black Soot and Picked Raspberry Distress Markers and fussy cut.I added a strip of the Black Ice Flock Transfer Sheet across the bottom half of the card, stamped the sentiment from the stamp set on to card coloured with Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide ink, fussy cut, added Aqua Shimmer Glitter Gloss and fixed in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte.
There are so many adorable Panda images in the stamp set, so watch this space for more cute Panda cards.

You've got me wondering about word origins now - I wonder what the Chinese word for a group of pandas is? Perhaps it's something that sounded, to the ears of the first English people to hear it, a bit like Embarrassment or Cupboard? So that's what they thought the Chinese were saying? It's a possibility!
ReplyDeleteAnyway that's by the by, I love your gorgeous card. I really must look into treating myself to a Simon Says kit but I do tremble a bit at the thought of the postage and duty getting them sent to the UK. I keep reminding myself that they wouldn't send you the kits if it was prohibitive!
Love your card Kath but you have us all wondering now about the 'Embarrassment' bit, how sad because they are adorable and not a bit embarressing, haha..now you've done it, can't wait...enjoy your day.xx
ReplyDeleteCute, cute, cute!
