Simon Says Stamp - Leaves Stencil

Hi my friends, I'm back to share another two cards I made with the Leaves Stencil from Simon Says Stamp Lucky To Know You release and the Stronger Together stamp set from the March Card Kit.

For the first card, I trimmed Distress Watercolor card to be slightly smaller than the A2 white card blank and using 2 of the stencils in the pack, applied Pine Needles and Peeled Paint Distress Oxide inks using mini round blending tools to create an all-over background. I spritzed the inks with water and patted dry with kitchen towel.

I stamped the sentiment inked with Simon Says Intense Black ink

I tied twine around the panel, added a Tim Holtz/Idea-ology Heart Charm

a twine bow and fixed the panel to the card using Distress Collage Medium Matte

For the second card, I trimmed another panel of Distress Watercolor card and marked a circle lightly with a pencil using a circle die. I applied Mowed Lawn, Peeled Paint and Pine Needles Distress Oxide inks through the same 2 stencils, following the pencilled circle to create a wreath. I spritzed the inks with water, dabbed with kitchen towel, dried with a heat tool and erased any trace of the pencil marks.

I masked off a portion of the Hello Again, I've missed you sentiment from the Stronger Together stamp set, inked with Simon Says Intense Black ink

removed the masking tape and stamped "Hello" in the centre of the circle. I stamped 2 of the block sentiments on to a scrap of Distress Watercolor card, trimmed what I needed and fixed to the panel with Distress Collage Medium Matte.

I stamped one of the small hearts from the sentiment inked with Ranger Carnation Red Archival ink.

and used Ranger Carnation Red Enamel Accents to add berries to the wreath.

The sentiment on the first card couldn't be more appropriate for the crazy scary situation we find ourselves in and with the virus predicted not to peak for months I suspect it's going to get crazier before it's done. I've gone into "staying home" mode which is the best thing to do for myself and my family and the right thing to do to prevent transmitting the virus to others. To be honest, this new self-isolating routine is not far removed from our normal day-to-day. I've been working from home since I retired 20 years ago and apart from giving up on trips out with friends for lunch or coffee, nothing much has changed. I have a long long list of chores and tasks to keep me occupied in the house and garden so I'm battening down the hatches and trying to ride out the storm as best I can. On second thoughts, I might just retreat to the cubbyhole, shut the door and play with the new boys in town.
