Hi my friends, I'm sharing a card I made for the Facebook Live launch of Tim Holtz/Sizzix Snarky Cats and Distinguished Framelits, woohoo, no more fussy cutting around these kitties with attitude from the Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Snarky Cats stamp set and no fears of chopping off the umbrella handle from the Distinguished stamp set. If you missed the Facebook Live, you can catch up on all the amazing inspirational samples and some great hints and tips from The Professor HERE.
I began by trimming Distress Watercolor card to be slightly smaller than the Simon Says Stamp White Slimline card blank. I smooshed Crackling Campfire Distress and Distress Oxide Inks and Speckled Egg Distress Oxide ink on to the craft mat on my Glass Media mat and spritzed with water. I placed the card onto the ink, dried and tapped back into the remaining droplets of ink, dried and repeated the process until I was happy with the background. I die-cut the umbrella, hat and cat from Distress Watercolor card using the Distinguished and Snarky Framelits. I placed the card into my stamp platform, removed the die-cuts and placed the stamps over the apertures (you can actually feel when they are properly aligned), picked the stamps up with the lid of the platform and replaced the die-cuts. I inked the hat and umbrella with Ground Espresso Distress Archival and the cat with Black Soot. Hey presto, perfectly stamped die-cuts every time which is a great time saving trick if you are making batches of cards. I stamped the cat again twice and die-cut the head, nose and eyes using the matching dies.
I coloured the hat, umbrella and cat with Crackling Campfire and Speckled Egg Distress Re-inkers using the Distress Detailer Brush and fixed in place with Sizzix Foam Adhesive to create dimension. To create the illusion that he was flying way above the city, Mary Poppins style, I die-cut the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Cityscape Thinlits from Brown Idea-ology Classic KraftStock and silver Idea-ology Metallic KraftStock, layered to create a silhouette drop shadow effect. And a snarky cat card would not be complete without some snarky remarks so I added Idea-ology Small Talk Snarky Stickers, cut apart to fit the card and sanded to reveal the white core.
I'll be back later in the week to share more makes using these Framelits and back in a few hours to share my DT project for Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. In the meantime, have fun with whatever you are creating.

ReplyDeleteAs soon as I get the umbrella stamp and die (ordered) my cat will be flying too. Great card idea!
ReplyDeleteStampers Anonymous sell them, I am in New Zealand and got mine from them. Their postage time is fairly quick, considering there's a pandemic. Good luck:-)
