Hello my friends, the month long Simon Says Stamp DieCember celebration is underway and woohoo we have a Cyber Monday surprise from Tim Holtz - the super adorable Be Of Good Cheer set of dies, a free gift with a purchase of $25 of Tim Holtz products. I'm continuing my annual tradition of making Christmas Shaker Ornaments to send to family and friends to hang on their tree and these adorable characters were perfect to decorate my ornaments.
I began by selecting colours of Sizzix Surfacez cardstock to begin a fun die-cutting adventure with the gorgeous Santa and Snowman from the Be Of Good Cheer set and my trusty Sizzix Sidekick, the perfect tool when you're repetitvely cutting small pieces.
Once the die-cutting was completed, I assembled production line style and how cute are these little guys with their adorable faces. To create the frames for the ornaments, I taped 2 circle dies together using packing tape (I find it holds up much better than washi tape when you're making lots of die-cuts) die-cut 8 circle frames for each ornament from Distress Watercolor card and layered using Distress Collage Medium. The die-cutting does take a bit of time but it creates a nice sturdy ornament, eleminates the need for foam tape and there are no sticky inside edges for your shaker bits to get caught up on.I then die-cut frames to fit on the front from Sizzix Surfacez to match the colours on the Be Of Good Cheer characters.I used the larger circle die to cut circles from Tim Holtz/Idea-ology Christmas KraftStock sparkle paper and Simon Says Stamp heat resistant acetate.I dusted the acetate circles with anti-static powder, stamped "Joy" and "25" from Simon Says Stamp Home For The Holidays 6" x 8" stamp set, inked with Simon Says Stamp White Pigment Ink, sprinkled with White Detail Embossing Powder, heat set and fixed behind the frames.I hand cut a snowbank from Distress Watercolor card and stamped a snowflake from the Home For The Holidays stamp set inked with Stormy Sky Distress Oxide ink. I fixed the Christmas KraftStock Sparkle circle on the back of the frame, added the snowbank and trees die-cut with Simon Says Stamp Winter Village dies.I placed Distress Mica Flakes and silver and white confetti sequins into the frames.
I fixed the frame with the acetate on top, used my trusty Crop-A-Dile to punch a hole and added Silver Sparkle thread as a hanger, a ribbon bow and Tim Holtz/Idea-ology Christmas Remnant Rubs. I fixed the Santa and Snowman to the frames using Distress Collage Medium.I applied Sizzix Adhesive Sheet to Simon Says Stamp Silver Glitter cardstock, die cut using the smallest star sprinkle from the Be Of Good Cheer dies set and fixed to the ornaments.Have fun with your festive makes
Gorgeous creations Kath, I love them. xx
