Seriously...

Hi folks...have you all recovered from your New Year celebrations...I'm not sure I have...not that I was partying late into the night nor did I overindulge in the alcohol department...in fact the Furry Boy and his Mum were tucked up in bed just after midnight and almost asleep when World Ward 2 broke out...yes the idiot firework brigade were out in force again...those more money than sense idiots bombarded us for the next 2 hours with explosive bangs that had ME jumping out of my skin let alone my terrified bundle of deliciousness.  Seriously why people are still allowed to buy what is essentially an explosive device and to detonate it wherever they choose never fails to amaze me in this world of "you can't do this and you can't do that" Health & Safety bonkerness.
And they're not the only ones who have got my dander up...before Christmas you couldn't switch on the telly or open a newspaper but you were bombarded with food...food...food...making us all feel our Christmas would be inadequate if we didn't buy X..Y and Z and as usual...fools that we are...we fell for it.  Hence your fridge probably looks like mine...a bewildering jungle of goodness knows what...little parcels of this that and the other wrapped in tin foil...cartons of cream that are now out of date...wedges of cheese despite their origin have all now taken on the "stinky blue with lots of bacteria" Stilton look...left over sausage rolls that even The Furry Boy would turn his nose up at and that's just the tip of the iceberg and talking of icebergs there are 2 of the lettuce variety in the salad drawer that could probably make it to the bin under their own steam...not to mention the cupboard full of Christmas Cakes and other baked goodies or the pile of tempting chocolates that I'm finding rather hard to ignore...

But now our media chums have turned their thoughts to holidays and if we all want to look like beach babes in our bikinis...the time has come to get toned up and lose some weight...REALLY !!!...every newspaper that you open now has the customary "Get Yourself  In Shape" diet for 2014...well fat chance whilst I'm trying to wade through all the food that you persuaded me to buy for my perfect Christmas and hey before you know they'll be back on the bandwagon again tempting us with all those yummy Easter Eggs...we just can't win.
And on an even more serious note...the cubbyhole crew have been struck down by the lazitis virus...all that curled up on the sofa watching endless telly and stuffing our faces has taken it's toll...how can I motivate my little team to get back into the crafty groove and work their sample magic with the new 2014 Fiskars products to be launched at Stitches in February...
when we've been brainwashed into thinking only of  the Christmas food mountain perhaps I need to send out an invitation to the Friday Girls to come and join me in one last huge "all you can eat - demolish the left-overs" party.
See you all tomorrow
Hugs Kath xxx

  1. Hi Kath. happy safe and healthy new year with every blessing of Lord... for you DH and our lovely Buddy.
Fireworks are banned here but we still have illegal ones going off at all hours. Causing grief for all but the sozzled few.
...mm lazitis bad over here too. :) Shaz in Oz.x

  2. Hi Kath, Wishing you a very Happy New Year.
We were lucky we only had fireworks for about 15 mins and that was while we were up watching them on TV.

  3. This year I have really cut down and thankfully only couple of things to use up. Must get down to crafting myself. Putting decorations away today so after the glitter clean up I can start !

  4. Hi Kath have to agree on the fireworks front, they should be for organised events only not for individual idiots to use. It's hard getting mojo back again but hopefully after decorations are down at weekend he will return Enjoy your day x

  5. Hi Kath, you are so right, you can't put on the telly or open a paper nowadays for adverts. Guess what we saw Easter eggs in M&S on Hogmanay day, isn't that just pushing it a bit? Surely Valentines day would come first. I do find that the older you get the less influenced we are by it all, but yes we do tend to have far too much food in the fridge. Our grand daughters hens are loving all the leftovers. Dying to see what new goodies Fiskers have come out with, have a good day...Trish

  6. M&S had Easter eggs next to the mince pies after Christmas, ridiculous. I refuse to buy more than we would eat, especially having lost almost two and a half stone since June, had no intention nor inclination now to stuff my face. As for fireworks I agree they shouldn't sell them to the public but we were lucky there weren't many here. Come on back to work xx

  10. So sorry to hear about the fireworks again, I totally agree with you. Luckily they only went off here for 20 minutes or so but it was enough to wake us up. After a vegetarian Christmas we are OK on the food front, chocolates all eaten. Those Fiskars gadgets look interesting..... Hugs, Anne x

  11. Kath it's the law that you can only start your diet on a Monday - so you've still got a few days to eat up all your goodies!! We'll all be joining in with the diet down here, Mary x

  12. Happy New Year Kate.....went to our local Asda on New Years eve and they had masses of cream eggs on the shelves!!!! As for fireworks I agree they are a pain in the bum and a total waste of money. I had to work a night shift New Years eve and nearly jumped out of my skin at 2.30am when some arm pit started letting fireworks off. I was of the opinion it was illegal to do so after a certain time of night.!

  13. I agree with everything you have said today. We stuff ourselves stupid for nearly two weeks then feel guilty and have to diet! How much food gets wasted out there. It's a sin really, and I saw the first Creme Egg advert on the telly this morning whilst I was watching, dare I say it, the FOOD CHANNEL! Ooops bang goes the diet plans already. Have a great day Valxxx

  14. Happy New Year Kath. We had the dreaded fireworks too, but luckily were still up, so it didn't upset us too much. Like you too much food left over here too. But Carolyn and family are coming this weekend so once I check the dates I'm sure it will all be used up. Big giggles for Buddy and hope he has a Good year. Hugs Rita xxx

  16. LOL Happy New Year!! Yes I too have a fridge laden with foil packets and half finished cheeses and the visitors left this afternoon so there are only my husband and myself left to eat it!! Fireworks were not too bad though I am glad to say (not that they bother the dog - she's too old and deaf to care). I also have the post Christmas craft room clean up to do - oh dear - I shall be wearing glitter for days!

  17. Happy New Year Kath and Buddy. Sorry this is late but have to drop everything and go to look after a very poorly sister every now and then. Had a gorgeous doggy walk in the sunshine this morning and now taking down my decs early and having a good clean through. Not too many left overs but enough chocs to last us well beyond Easter! My 5/2 diet has seen me through a second festive season without putting on an ounce - please folks give it a try - it's now a part of my life as I feel so well on it and for 5 days out of 7 you can eat what you like without thinking about it. My New Year resolution is to use more of my crafty stash and not buy things I really don't need - so as tempting as the fiskars equipment looks - it won't be coming my way in the near future - well - that's the plan......XX

  20. Hugs to Buddy from me and Eddy. We were lucky in that it poured of rain and that stopped the firework frenzy. Thankfully we have learnt to not buy too much or cook too much but we still have some stuff in the fridge to be recycled. Happy New Year to you and your loved ones xx

  21. Hope you can survive the clearing fridge brigade. Thankfully husband doesn't go in for mega feasts though we still have some brussels, parsnips & somehow or other he seems to have had some kind of fear of being mince pie-less……….
    Fiskars thingummies look interesting

  22. Poor Buddy being deaved with fireworks. We're too far from anywhere to be bothered here. Hubby did see some over Ellon direction when he walked the dogs. He's convinced there was a laser display too somewhere!

We're not too bad with leftovers this year. I made shortbread and mince pies but resisted the temptation to make a Christmas cake. Funnily enough we didn't have as many sweeties as usual either. Luckily Mhairi brought some After Eights when she came out yesterday so it's not a problem to eat them!!

It's evening now and I've been trying to get round to making my DT card all day. Best make an effort now.

    Kat xx
