Simon Says - Just A Note To Say Hello

Hi my friends, I'm back to share another card using the gorgeous Brushed Flowers stamp set from Simon Says Stamp May Card Kit. If you visit my blog regularly, you'll know that I'm an inky background person, very rarely do I use patterned paper BUT on this occasion, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and use one of the beautiful Prima Painted Floral papers included in the kit, well, you've got to live dangerously once in a while.

I trimmed the Prima patterned paper to 4" x 5.1/4" and fixed to a white card blank using Distress Collage Medium Matte. I stamped the sentiment from the Brushed Flowers stamp set, inked with Simon Says Intense Black ink.
I stamped a selection of flowers and leaves using the Pawsitively Saturated Mini Ink Cubes included in the kit and Seafoam Pawsitively Saturated ink which came in a previous kit. I used the mini blending brushes to add shading to the images by applying a different colour of ink to the stamp and re-stamping.
There are dies available for this stamp set but mine haven't arrived yet so I looked out my trusty Tim Holtz Haberdashery Scissors and fussy cut, which I don't mind and find quite relaxing.
I fixed the flowers and leaves to the panel using foam adhesive to create dimension and added splatters of Black Gesso..

It seems the sunshine is set to continue through the weekend in my little corner of the planet, so I'm planning a weekend in the garden, scarifying the lawn, planting up containers, generally pottering around and enjoying a coffee at every opportunity. Have a great weekend and have fun with whatever you are doing.

Simon Says - Brushed Flowers

Hi my friends, I was super excited when Simon Says Stamp Brushed Flowers May Card Kit arrived in the mail and was itching to use the gorgeous Brushed Flower stamp set with the Pawsitively Saturated Mini Ink cubes. The kit is still available to purchase at time of writing HERE and the items from the kit can also be purchased individually.

I love the brushed sketchy look of the images on this stamp set, the assortment of sentiments makes it suitable for all occasions and I think this is the perfect stamp set for making batches of cards to gift to non-crafty friends.
I trimmed Distress Watercolor card to create 3 - 3.1/4" x 4.1/2" panels and coloured using the acetate smooshing technique with Scattered Straw and Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide inks to create soft and subtle backgrounds.
I stamped the sentiments, inked with Simon Says Intense Black ink

I stamped the flowers and leaves, inked with the 4 colours of Pawsitively Saturated inks included in the kit. I used several techniques to vary the depth of colour - second generation stamping and then adding the same colour to the centre of the flower stamp using a mini blending brush; stamping with one colour and adding a darker colour to the stamp using the same technique - in other words, just playing around and having fun with flower arranging on paper.
I matted the panels on to Simon Says Black Cardstock included in the kit and trimmed to leave an 1/8" border.
To finish I matted the panels on to A2 white card blanks.

I have to say I was rather pleased with the result considering I had only 4 colours to play with and who knows what might happen if I break out my collection of 69 Distress ink colours, watch this space.
Have fun with whatever you are creating

Happy and Joyful Birthday

Hi my friends, I'm back to share another card made with the Lined Background and XL Stacked Greetings from Simon Says Stamp latest release, Happy and Joyful. You can check out all the fabulous products in this release HERE.

I trimmed Distress Watercolor card to 3" x 6", inked Simon Says Lined Background, inked with Abandoned Coral, Fossilized Amber, Twisted Citron and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide inks, spritzed lightly with water, stamped on to the panel and dried.
I stamped the sentiment from Simon Says XL Stacked Greetings, inked with Simon Says Intense Black ink.
I coloured scraps of Distress Watercolor card with the colours used on the background and die cut the smallest balloon using Simon Says Balloon Trio dies. I die-cut extra highlights, fixed the balloons to the panel with Distress Collage Medium and the two front balloons popped up on foam adhesive. I drew in strings using a black marker.
I applied Wink of Stella Clear Glitter to the balloons and added Ranger Glossy Accents on top.
To finish, I added black dashes around the edge using a black marker and fixed to a 3.1/4" x 6.1/4" Mini Slimline White Card Blank.
Woohoo, Simon Says Stamp May Card Kit has just arrived
and I can't wait to try out the Pawsitively Saturated Inks with the gorgeous Brushed Flowers stamp set.
Have fun with whatever you are creating.

Because Of You

Happy Tuesday my friends, I seem to be obsessed by the colour yellow at the moment, probably influenced by the glorious spring sunshine we've been having and the time I've enjoyed pottering in my garden. I created a card using Simon Says Lined Background, Mother Earth and Because Of You stamp sets and Mother's Day Flowers dies.

I inked the Lined Background stamp with a mix of Scattered Straw and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide inks, spritzed lightly with water and stamped vertically and horizontally on to A2 panels of Distress Watercolor card (one will be set aside for use later)
I inked the image from Simon Says Mother Earth with Versamark and Simon Says Intense Black ink and heat embossed with Simon Says White and Clear Embossing Powders.
I coloured the black embossed image with Prize Ribbon and Fossilized Amber Distress ink re-inkers using a Distress Detailer Brush, added white accents with a Sakura white Gelly Roll Pen, trimmed and fixed to the Lined Background using Distress Collage Medium.
I fixed Sizzix Adhesive Sheet to the back of a scrap of Vellum, stamped the sentiment from Simon Says Because Of You, inked with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Simon Says White Embossing Powder. I trimmed around the sentiment, removed the backing sheet and fixed in place. I stamped the second sentiment from the same set, inked with Prize Ribbon Distress Oxide ink and heat embossed with Simon Says Clear Embossing Powder.
At this stage, I had a little accident when I dropped the Prize Ribbon ink pad on the card, leaving a blue smudge in the bottom left corner and hey no way was I starting over so I trimmed the panel down to 3.3/4" x 5", die-cut daisies from Distress Watercolor card using Simon Says Mother's Day Flowers dies, added the centres coloured with Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide ink and fixed in place with Distress Collage Medium.
To finish I coloured the edges of the panel with Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide ink using a Distress Blending Tool and matted on to an A2 white card blank.

I don't know about you but I'm finding it hard to believe we are in to the last week of April already and before we know month No 5 will be here. Time flies and time and tide wait for no man and the list of things to do in the garden, in the house and the cubbyhole never gets any shorter. Have fun with whatever you are creating and I'll be back soon to share more projects and no doubt, more philosophical words of wisdom.

Simon Says - Wild And Wonderful

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because

and the theme for this week is...
WILD AND WONDERFUL
had fun creating cards using Gertrude, Winifred and Harrison, the wild and wonderful African animals from Tim Holtz/Sizzix Colorize Collection and Funky Foliage Thinlits. I used Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Bubble and Tiles Mini Layering Stencils to add interest to the Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide background and Simon Says Life Is A Party stamp set for the sentiments.
I trimmed Distress Watercolor card to create 3 - 4.3/4" x 6.3/4" panels and coloured with Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide ink using one of my favourite techniques. I smooshed the ink pad on to the craft mat on my Glass Media Mat, spritzed with water, picked up the ink with a piece of acetate, pressed on to the panel and repeated until I was happy with the backgrounds.
I applied Peeled Paint through the Tiles Mini Layering Stencil from Set 9 and Dusty Concord through the Bubbles Mini Layering Stencil from Set 5 using Distress Blender Brushes.
I stamped the sentiments from Simon Says Life Is A Party, inked with Black Soot Distress Archival.
Then it was time to die-cut the wild and wonderful stars of the show and woohoo, I love that the big platform on the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Switch let me cut all the pieces for each character in one pass.
I die-cut Gertrude, Winifred and Harrison Colorize Thinlits using different colours from packs of Sizzix Cardstock and assembled.
I fixed to the panels using foam adhesive to create dimension
I die-cut the leaves from Distress Watercolor card coloured with Peeled Paint and Lucky Clover Distress Oxide inks and Sizzix dark green cardstock using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Funky Foliage Thinlits.
I fixed the foliage in place using Distress Collage Medium, applying adhesive to only the bottom section of the leaves and curled them up to create dimension. I added splatters of Walnut Stain Distress Paint.
To finish, I matted the panels on to 5" x 7" white card blanks, covered with Distress Kraft HeavyStock
