Simon Says - Let's Art Journal

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because

and the theme for this week is...
LET'S ART JOURNAL
I created a page in my Dylusions Small Creative Journal inspired by wonderful childhood memories of my faithful best friend. I used Tim Holtz/Idea-ology Large Collage Strips, Stampers Anonymous Focus, Spots and Halftone Mini Layering Stencils, Tim Holtz/Sizzix Side Order Floristry Thinlits and Simon Says Stamp Modern Scrapbook stamps and dies.
To add some background colour to the pages, I smooshed Bundled Sage and Evergreen Bough Distress Oxide ink on to my white studio glass mat, spritzed with water, picked up the inks with a sheet of acetate and pressed on to the pages until I was happy with the coverage. I fixed torn strips of Tim Holtz/Idea-ology Large Collage Strips in place using Distress Collage Medium and a Distress Collage Brush. I die-cut the photoframe using Simon Says Modern Scrapbook dies, coloured lightly with Bundled Sage Distress Oxide and Scorched Timber Distress Ink, stamped the sentiment from Simon Says Modern Scrapbook 6" x 8" stamp set inked with Ground Espresso Distress Archival ink and added the photo from the Large Collage Strips pack. I applied Evergreen Bough Distress Oxide ink through the Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Focus Mini Layering Stencil, Ground Espresso Distress Crayon through the Spots Mini Layering Stencil and blended with my finger. To finish the background I applied Distress Grit Paste Opaque through the HalfTone Mini Layering Stencil and set aside to dry.
I fixed the photoframe in place with Simon Says Thin Foam Squares and added Tim Holtz/Idea-logy Cello Sticker Tape.
I die-cut the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Side Order Floristry Thinlits from Distress Watercolor card and coloured with Wild Honey, Evergreen Bough, Rustic Wilderness and Scorched Timber Distress Oxide inks using Distress Mini Blending Brushes.
I fixed the flowers and leaves in place using Distress Collage Medium and Simon Says Thin Foam Squares. I stamped the sentiment from Simon Says Modern Scrapbook 6" x 8" stamp set on to a scrap of Distress Watercolor card, inked with Ground Espresso Distress Oxide ink, die-cut with the co-ordinating sentiment die, coloured the edges lightly with Wild Honey Distress Oxide ink and fixed to the page with Thin Foam Squares.

Just close your eyes and set them free to explore their creativity. Adults are allowed to help just a little bit if necessary, but we really want the children to ‘DO IT’ themselves as much as possible. You can find all the relevant details on how to enter and win the fabulous prizes on offer HERE.

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because

The first challenge of the month is when the team showcase one particular brand/company and this month we are all using the fabulous products from AALL&Create. You don't have to their products to join in the challenge but if you have them in your stash, we would love you to share what you habe made with them.
We are also welcoming back the lovely and talented Ann Chuang as our Designer In The Spotlight. If you haven't visited her blog before, please pop over, you will be in for a real treat.
The theme for this week is...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
and we are celebrating the Monday Challenge's 15th Birthday
Can you believe that this challenge has been going for 15 years! The time has flown by hasn’t it! We would like to say a huge thank you to all of our fellow crafters who have joined us over the years and we hope you will continue to join us.
I made a birthday card using AALL&Create Antique Wayfinder Layer It Up Washi Tape and the Heapza Hexagonz Stencil to create the background, added a die-cut flower using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Vault Wildflowers Thinlits and Idea-ology Sentiments Label Sticker.
I applied strips of the Antique Wayfinder Layer It Up Washi Tape to the front of an A2 white card blank. The Layer It Up Washi Tape has a repeat pattern which you match up to create an image.
I applied Distress Grit Paste Opaque through ALL&Create's Heapz Hexagon 6" x 6" stencil.
I created the image again with the Layer It Up Washi Tape on white card and fussy cut the flower cluster and butterflies.
I die-cut the flower 3 times from Distress Watercolor card using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Vault Wildflower Thinlits, layered to create dimension and fixed in place with Distress Collage Medium.
I coloured the flower centre with Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain Distress Minis using a Distress Mini Blending Brush, added dots using a Sakura Black Glaze Pen and added the fussy cut flower cluster and butterflies popped up on Simon Says Thin Foam Squares.
To finish I fixed the Tim Holtz/Idea-ology Sentiments Label Sticker to a scrap of white card, trimmed and fixed in place over the flower stem using Simon Says Thin Foam Squares.

Simon Says - Confetti Butterflies

Hello my friends, I'm back to share another card made with products from Simon Says Stamp Happy Camper release. As usual there are lots of fabulous products to inspire your creativity and you can check them all out HERE

I used the Confetti Butterflies Embossing Folder, perfect for one of my favourite techniques along with Tim Holtz/Ranger Ink Mini Distress Oxide inks and Simon Says Fancy Thank You dies for the sentiment.
I trimmed Distress Watercolor card to 4" x 5.1/4" and embossed using Simon Says Confetti Butterflies Embossing Folder so that the debossing was on the smooth side of the card.
I coloured the butterflies using a mix of Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry, Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Stormy Sky and Evergreen Bough Distress Oxide Mini Ink cubes with Mini Blending Brushes and used Mustard Seed and Spiced Marmalade to colour the background.
I dragged the Versafine Clair Nocturne ink lightly over the panel, purposefully leaving some of the background colour showing.
I die-cut the Simon Says Fancy Thank You 3 times from Distress Watercolor card, layered to create dimension and lightly coloured the bottom of the die-cut with Mustard Seed Distress Oxide ink using a Mini Blending Brush. I fixed the die-cut to the shadow section, die-cut from vellum and fixed to the panel with Simon Says Pawsitively Perfect Craft Glue. To finish I matted the panel on to an A2 white card blank.

Have fun with whatever you are creating.

Simon Says - Happy Camper release

Hello my friends, Simon Says Stamp have just launched their latest release - Happy Camper. As usual there are lots of fabulous products in the release to inspire your creativity and you can check them all out HERE.

I created a card using the Simon Says Stamp Mid-Century Elemental Plate along with the Big Botanicals stamp set and EZ Strips Everyday stamps and EZ Strips Rectangles die from a previous release. I was inspired by the cover photo on the die packaging to have fun with a little bit of stamping and dimensional paper piecing.
I began by trimming Distress Watercolor card to create 3 - A2 panels, the same size as the Mid-Century Elemental die and coloured 2 of the panels using Worn Lipstick/Wild Honey and Bundled Sage/Peeled Paint Distress Oxide inks.
I stamped the images from Big Botanicals, inked with Versafine Clair Nocturne ink, on to all 3 panels using my Stamp Platform to ensure they were all stamped in the same place on each panel.
I covered the back of each panel with Sizzix Adhesive Sheets and die-cut using the Mid-Century Elemental Plate. I fixed the white panel on to a panel of Distress Watercolor card and started fixing the coloured pieces into their matching negative spaces.
Once I had completed most of the paper piecing, I fixed the remaining pieces in place using Simon Says Small Thin Foam Squares to create random dimension.
I couldn't resist adding a little bit of splatter using the new Pawsitively Perfect White Splatter which can be used straight from the jar, no need to decant on to your glass mat and spritz with water and no clean up.
I matted the panel on to a white card blank covered with Simon Says Slate cardstock. I stamped the sentiments from Simon Says Stamp EZ Strips Everyday 4" x 6" stamp set on to a scrap of Slate cardstock, inked with Versamark ink, sprinkled with White Embossing Powder, heat set, die-cut using the co-ordinating EZ Strips Rectangles die and fixed to the panel with Simon Says Thin Foam Squares.

I'll be back later today to share another card made with products from the release. In the meantime, have fun with whatever you're making.
