Simon Says - Have A Heart

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because

HAVE A HEART

With February just around the corner, I used Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Ticking and Grain with Mini Layering Stencils from Sets 6 and 8, Tim Holtz/Sizzix True Love Colorize, Vault Hippity Hop, Vault Funky Floral Wreath and Alphanumeric Shadow Lower Thinlits to create a Valentine's Day card.

I trimmed Distress Watercolor card to 4.1/2" x 6.1/2", inked Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Ticking background stamp with Black Soot Distress Oxide ink and stamped randomly on the panel. I applied Distress Black Texture Paste through the Valentine Mini Layering Stencil from Set 6 and set aside to dry. I die-cut Tim Holtz/Sizzix True Love Colorize from Distress Watercolor card and Distress Black HeavyStock.  I applied Lumberjack Plaid Distress Oxide ink through the Hearts Mini Layering Stencil, also from Set 6, using a Tiny Blending Tool, sprinkled with a mix of Candied Apple and Lumberjack Plaid Distress Embossing Glazes and heat set. I fixed the heart and black outline on the panel using Distress Collage Medium, and added the white outline at an angle. I die-cut XOXO from Distress Black HeavyStock using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Alphanumeric Shadow Lower Thinlits and fixed in place. I applied Lumberjack Plaid Distress Oxide ink through the Dot Fade Mini Layering Stencil from Set 8 to add a pop of red on the background.

I die-cut the bunny 3 times from Distress Watercolor card using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Vault Hippity Hop Thinlits, layered, added shadowing around the edge with Black Soot Distress Oxide ink and fixed to the panel with foam squares to create dimension. I added the bowtie, die-cut from a scrap of Distress Watercolor card, coloured with Lumberjack Plaid Distress Oxide ink and added the glasses from Vault Bunny + Chick die-cut from Distress Black HeavyStock.

I die-cut the flowers and leaf sprigs from Distress Watercolor card coloured with Lumberjack Plaid Distress Oxide ink, Distress Watercolor card and Distress Black HeavyStock using the Vault Funky Floral Wreath and fixed in place with Distress Collage Medium. I added Trinity Stamps Creamy Vanilla Heart Sprinkles to the flower centres and a Candy Apple Heart Sprinkle to the bunny's chest.

To finish, I added eyes to the bunny using the fall out centres from the small die-cut flowers, matted the panel on to Distress Black HeavyStock, trimmed 1/4" larger and fixed to a 5" x 7" white card blank.

Valentine Rosettes

Hello my friends, we are racing through January, Valentine's Day is just around the corner and my thoughts have turned to love so I created a trio of floral cards using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Vault Rosettes Thinlits for the flower heads, Vault Widflowers for the foliage and the hearts from Vault Lovebirds.

I trimmed Distress Watercolor card to make 3 - 4" x 5.1/4" panels. I spritzed the Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Mini Flourish Layering Stencil from Set 10 with Scorched Timber Distress Oxide ink and water and tapped repeatedly on to the card panels to create a monoprint background effect.

I fixed Tim Holtz Idea-ology Palette Ephemera to the panels using Distress Collage Medium and applied Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink through the Tile Mini Layering Stencil from Set 9 using the Tiny Blending Tool which is my new "oh so dinky and cute" best friend.

I repeated using the Dotted Mini Layering Stencil from Set 5 with Scorched Timber Distress Ink.

I had a rummage through my stash of Tim Holtz/Idea-ology 12" x 12" paper pads and selected papers with smallish patterns that I thought would be perfect to die-cut my floral rosettes using the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Vault Rosette Thinlits.

I die-cut 3 strips for each rosette, coloured two of the sets of 3 with Worn Lipstick and Lumberjack Plaid Distress Oxide inks to match the colours on the background ephemera. Before assembling, I trimmed down the width of two sets of the strips to make smaller rosettes.

I fixed the rosettes to the panels with Distress Collage Medium, applied only to the centres and added the circles die-cut from contrasting papers or ephemera. I die-cut the leaf stems from Distress Watercolor card coloured with Peeled Paint and Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxides and neutral colours of Sizzix Eclectic Cardstock. I die-cut the hearts from left over scraps of the rosettes paper, coloured with either Worn Lipstick and Lumberjack Plaid Distress Oxide inks using the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Vault Lovebirds Thinlits.

I inked around the edge of the panels with Scorched Timber Distress Oxide ink using a Tiny Blending Tool and added Simon Says Reverse All the Love Sentiment Strips popped up on foam squares to create dimension. 

To finish I fixed the panels to A2 white card blanks.

It looks like it's going to be another batten down the hatches week in the cubbyhole. The snow has gone but has been replaced with heavy rain and horrendous gale force winds. In other words, it's never two days the same when it comes to our British weather. Stay safe and warm where you are and have fun with whatever you are creating.

Simon Says - Recycle

RECYCLE

I recycled a Ranger Craft Scraper, bottle caps, pencil eraser and bubble wrap from my craft room and used with Tim Holtz Scorched Timber Distress Oxide Spray, Picket Fence and Scorched Timber Distress Paints to create the background on an Art Journal page. I stamped Stampers Anonymous Specimen with Scorched Timber Distress Ink, added Idea-ology Entomology Collage Paper, Sizzix Vault Lovebirds and Alphanumeric Lower Shadow Thinlits die-cuts coloured with Kitsch Flamingo and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide Sprays.

I trimmed Dina Wakley Heavyweight Watercolor Paper to 6" x 8.1/4", spritzed Scorched Timber Distress Oxide Spray on to my Glass Media Mat, added a spritz of water and used to create a wash on the panel leaving a border around the edge.

I placed Scorched Timber Distress Paint on my Glass Media Mat, added a little water, tapped the edge of the Ranger Craft Scraper Tool into the paint and used to make random grid like lines on the panel.

I masked off the edges of the panel, inked the moth from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Specimen with Scorched Timber Distress ink and stamped randomly on the background.

I placed Picket Fence and Scorched Timber Distress Paints on my Glass Media Mat and used bubble wrap and a bottle cap to add more interest and the impression of layers of texture on the background.

I repeated using Picket Fence Distress Paint with a smaller bottle cap and eraser on a pencil.

I added torn scraps of Idea-ology Entomology Collage Paper to the background using Distress Collage Medium and a small Distress Collage Brush.

I coloured Distress Watercolor card with Kitsch Flamingo and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide Sprays and die-cut hearts using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Vault Lovebirds Thinlits. I fixed the hearts in place temporarily using just a small dot of adhesive on the outside edge.

I added machine stitching around the edges of the panel and down the centre of the line of hearts. Sewing machine needles do not like adhesive and are easily gummed up, hence my caution when initially fixing the hearts to the panel.

I used Scorched Timber Distress Watercolor Pencil to add shadowing around the hearts. I die-cut the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Alphanumeric Shadow Lower Thinlits from the left over pink card and Distress Watercolor card and fixed in place with Distress Collage Medium.

I added Tim Holtz/Idea-ology Small Talk Stickers and fixed the panel inside my Dina Wakley Media Journal.

Scorched Timber + Speckled Egg

Hi my friends, I decided to have a little fun, match up the newest Tim Holtz Distress Colour, Scorched Timber with Speckled Egg, one of my all time favourites. I used Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Dapper, Grime Mini Layering Stencil, Distress Embossing Glazes, Sizzix Gentlemen and Vault Lovebirds Thinlits and Idea-ology Clippings Sticker Book to create a grungy Valentine card.

I trimmed Distress Watercolor card to 4" x 5.1/4", smooshed my favourite Distress Custom Blend ink pad (Antique Linen/Old Paper Distress Re-inkers and Speckled Egg/Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide Re-inkers) on to my Tim Holtz Media Mat and spritzed with water. I dragged the panel through the inks, dried and repeatedly tapped back into the inks to pick up the remaining droplets.

I stamped the Merchant Tailor banner from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Dapper, inked with Scorched Timber Distress Ink, sprinkled with the Scorched Timber Embossing Glaze and heat set. I stamped the gear image from the stamp set with Scorched Timber Distress Oxide and dried the panel with my heat tool. I stamped the numbers image, inked with Speckled Egg Distress Oxide, sprinkled with the Speckled Egg Embossing Glaze and heat set.

I applied Ranger Transparent Matte Texture Paste randomly on the panel using the Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Grime Mini Layering Stencil from Set 43 and while the paste was wet, sprinkled with Scorched Timber and Speckled Egg Distress Embossing Glazes, tapped on the back to mix the powders and heat set once the paste was dry.

I spritzed Scorched Timber Distress Spray Stain and Distress Oxide Spray on to a scrap of Distress Watercolor card, spritzed with water, dried and die-cut using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Gentlemen Thinlits. I sanded the edges of the die-cut and fixed to the panel popped up on foam squares to create dimension.

I fixed Tim Holtz/Idea-ology Clippings Stickers in place with Distress Collage Medium and added shading aroud the edges using the Scorched Timber Distress Watercolor Pencil.

I coloured a scrap of Distress Watercolor card with Speckled Egg Distress Oxide ink using the direct to paper method, sprinkled with Speckled Egg Distress Embossing Glaze and heat set. I die-cut the umbrella from this card and Idea-ology Metallic KraftStock using the Gentlemen Thinlits and hearts using Vault Lovebirds Thinlits

To finish, I matted the panel on to Distress Black HeavyStock, trimmed 1/8" larger and fixed to a top folding A2 Cream card blank.

Have  a great weekend whatever you have planned. I'm still marooned in a freezing snowy wilderness and there's no better place to hang out than the cosy cubbyhole, crafting with lots of coffee and hot chocolate. It's a hard life but someone's got to do it.
