Simon Says - Poppy Perfection

Hi my friends, I'm back to share another card made using the Poppy Perfection stamp set and cover of the ModaScrap Spring Poppies Paper Pad from the Simon Says Stamp Poppy Perfection April Card Kit. The kit is still available to buy or you can purchase individual items from the kit HERE.

I do love poppies and have them all over my garden. They self seed, appear out of nowhere, year after year but sadly the flowers never last more than a few days. I was rather taken by the patchwork look of the cover of the ModaScrap Spring Poppies Paper Pad so I trimmed off the centre banner panel, fixed the remaining side sections to a panel of white cardstock and ran a permanent black marker around the edges.

I stamped the large poppy image from Poppy Perfection on to Distress Watercolor card, inked with Simon Says Intense Black ink and coloured with Candied Apple, Crackling Campfire, Twisted Citron, Peeled Paint, Wild Honey Distress Watercolor Pencils and a Detailer Brush.

I tore a panel of vellum to be slightly smaller than the background, stamped the sentiment from Poppy Perfection, inked with Simon Says Intense Black ink, sprinkled with Ranger Black Embossing Powder and heat set. I fussy cut around the poppy image and fixed to the vellum with small pieces of the Foam Strips included with the kit. I added Distress Collage Medium to the back of the vellum only where the image was and attached to the panel.

I added splatters of Black Soot Distress Paint over the vellum and dots to the poppy centres using a Sakura Black Glaze Pen.

I matted the panel on to a white card blank and added my new guilty pleasure, the super cute Creamy Vanilla Heart Sprinkles from Trinity Stamps.

Simon Says - Poppy Perfection April Card Kit

Hi my friends, I'm sharing cards I made using the Tim Holtz Transparent Layers pack included in Simon Says Stamp Poppy Perfection April 2023 Card Kit, along with sentiments from the Poppy Perfection stamp set and Moda Scrap Spring Poppies 6" x 6" Paper Pad. The kit is still available to purchase at time of writing but if you wish, you can also buy the individual items separately, click HERE.

I die-cut 2 card blanks using Simon Says Nested Domed Arches and used smaller dies to cut the Moda Scrap Spring Poppies paper, Distress Watercolor card and the Tim Holtz/Idea-ology Transparent Layer. 

I fixed the Distress Watercolor and Transparent Layer die-cuts together with an eyelet. It seems eyelets are coming back in to fashion, which is good news because I have many containers of these little blighters in all shapes, sizes and colours.

I fixed the patterned paper to the card blank using Distress Collage Medium and added the foam strips included in the kit to the back of Distress Watercolor Arch.

I added a twine bow to the top of Arch and fixed in place. I stamped the sentiments from the Poppy Perfection stamp set on to scraps of Distress Watercolor card, inked with Simon Says Intense Black ink, fussy cut and fixed in place.

For the second card, I created a frame from the patterned paper using the Nested Domed Arches dies, cut the rest of the pieces, as before, using smaller dies from the set. I fixed the frame to the card blank and the patterned paper arch into the negative space.

I added small dots of Ranger Glossy Accents behind the flowers on the Transparent Layer and fixed on top. I stamped the sentiment from Poppy Perfection on to a scrap of Distress Watercolor card, fussy cut and added to the card. To finish, I added Trinity Stamps Candy Apple Heart Sprinkles to the cards, ably assisted by Simon Says Reverse Tweezers, also included in the kit.

Simon Says - Stencil It

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because

and the theme for this week is...

STENCIL IT

I used Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Flourish, Script and Markings Mini Layering Stencils to create the backgrounds on my cards and decorated with Tim Holtz/Idea-ology Photographic and Palette Collage Papers, Transparent Layers and Quote Chip Labels.

I trimmed Distress Watercolor card to create 2 - 4" x 5.1/4" panels, spritzed Rusty Hinge Distress Spray Stain and Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide Spray through Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Flourish Stencil on to the panel on the right. I spritzed the back of the stencil and pressed on to the second panel which creates a monoprint effect.

I inked the script background from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Entomology with Black Soot Distress Archival and holding the stamp in my hands, stamped randomly on to both panels.

I applied Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide ink through the Markings Mini Layering Stencil from Set 53.

I applied Distress Translucent Crackle Paste through the Script Layering Stencil, sprinkled with Walnut Stain Distress Embossing Powder and heat set when the paste had dried.

I added torn strips of Tim Holtz/Idea-ology Photographic and Palette Collage Papers, fixed in place with Distress Collage Medium using a Collage Brush.

To finish I added Tim Holtz/Idea-ology Quote Chip Labels, number strips fromTransparent Layers, matted the panels on to A2 Idea-ology Black KraftStock panels and fixed to 5" x 6.1/4" white card blanks.

I am completely addicted to both these new Collage Papers and I know I'm going to have to stock up.

Simon Says - Mushroom Stems

Hi my friends, I'm sharing a panel I created to add to my Tim Holtz Idea-ology Small Collection Folio Folder dedicated to Nature, using the Mushroom stems die from Simon Says Just For You latest release, Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Mini Layering Stencils from Set 49 with Ranger Distress Texture Paste and Distress Embossing Glazes, Sizzix Funky Foliage Thinlits, paper from Idea-ology Backdrops Volume 4, Specimen Remnant Rubs and Clippings Stickers.

I trimmed paper from Idea-ology Backdrops Volume 4, applied Distress Texture Paste Opague through the Script Mini Layering Stencil, sprinkled with Peeled Paint and Vintage Photo Distress Embossing Glazes and heat set once the paste had dried.

I applied the Texture Paste again through the Deco Arch Mini Layering Stencil from the same set and laid aside to dry.

I added Idea-ology Specimen Remnant Rubs and splatters of Rustic Wilderness Distress Paint.

I die-cut Simon Says Mushroom Stems from Distress Watercolor card.

I fixed Tim Holtz/Sizzix Sticky Grid Sheets to my Glass Media Mat, laid the die cut sheet on top, replaced the die-cuts back into the negative spaces which holds the die-cuts in place for colouring. I used Antique Linen and Vintage Photo Distress Oxide inks for the stems and underside section of the mushroom caps, applied with Distress Blending Brushes.

I masked off the sections I had already coloured to make sure I didn't get colour on the Sticky Grid Sheets so they could re-used and coloured the mushroom caps with Candied Apple, Crackling Campfire and a little Vintage Photo Distress Ink around the edges.

I assembled the mushrooms and added splatters of White Gesso and Decayed Distress Mica Stain.

I die-cut the greenery from green Sizzix Surfacez Cardstock using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Funky Foliage Thinlits and shaded with Peeled Paint Distress Oxide ink.

I fixed Idea-ology Mummy Cloth to the panel using Distress Collage Medium, added the mushrooms and greenery with Distress Collage Medium and Simon Says Foam Squares behind the mushroom caps to add dimension and added Idea-ology Clippings Stickers.

I trimmed Idea-ology Black KraftStock to be 1/2" larger, sanded the edges using a Tim Holtz Sanding Disk to reveal the kraft core, to use as a matt for my decorated panel

and fixed inside my Small Collection Folio Folder
