There are no words to describe what I think of the cowardly ******* who wounded this beautiful animal...stalked him for 40 hours before shooting him...removed his skin and that gorgeous majestic head...for what...another trophy on his wall. Whether he's extradited to Zimbabwe to be brought to justice or not...he has to look his kids in the eye everyday for the rest of his miserable life and see their shame for what their Dad does for fun.
but sadly this is just the tip of a very nasty iceberg...did you know about Canned Hunting
a shameful heartbreaking but very lucrative trade in South Africa which indulges the sick fantasies of rich businessmen. Like millions of others across the globe I'm outraged and have been signing petition after petition but will it make a difference...I doubt it...not until Governments stand together to put a stop to this barbarity...Australia has already banned the importation of hunting trophies...the UK and the EU are debating the issue and if the US Government decide to include the African Lion on the Endangered Species list...it could make a real difference and protect these beautiful animals from egotistical maniacs and their disgusting interpretation of the word SPORT. Already there is a tiny glimmer of light at the end of this dark tunnel of depravity...Quantas KLM Lufthansa Singapore Airlines and Emirates have announced a ban on transporting their disgusting trophies...three cheers for the good guys.
BUT just when you think the idiocy can't get any worse...our Government have approved the reintroduction of pesticides that will kill millions of bees in the UK...
no bees...no pollination of plants...no food...in years to come we could be importing thousands of tons of fruit and vegetables adding billions to the national debt...not forgetting the huge increase in our carbon footprint...worst case scenario...fruit and veg could become endangered species in the UK or disappear from our supermarket shelves completely. Laughable...ludicrous...the stupidity of the people who are supposed to represent us is unbelieveable...you couldn't make it up if you tried. Seriously I despair of the kind of world we are creating for future generations and can't help but wonder if God ever regrets the day he created Adam and Eve.
Enjoy your weekend...especially the gang who are heading to the Wendy Vecchi Workshop in London...you all know who are...have fun girls...I'll be with you in spirit.
Hugs Kath xxx
I am with you all the way on both issues, Kath. If I used, in public, even one of the profanities I have used to describe the perverted creep who thinks what he does could be called sport, I would be arrested.
ReplyDeleteMany people have said that this particular cowardly act is all the more dreadful because the lion was a favourite of the area, but for me his despicable behaviour is unsavoury even when inflicted on anonymous animals.
A close friend has just returned from a trip to Africa, and while at one of the lodges an American women sitting next to her at dinner received an excited phone call from her husband, saying that he had just killed his first big cat (I think it was a leopard or cheetah). Apparently he had paid $US100,000 for the "privilege"!!!!!! My poor friend was almost physically sick, as she, a mutual friend, and I are members of Native Animal Trust, and we rescue and rehabilitate injured or orphaned Australian native animals (often victims of Neanderthals who like to think they are 'real men' because they love the 'sport' of hunting).
Oh boy, Kath, just writing this is once again bringing my blood pressure to boiling point, so I had better go and try some deep breathing.
Hugs
Jennifer. x
I couldn't agree with you more about the barbaric behaviour of this little ****!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm beyond speechless over it....just a shame the lion couldn't retaliate and bite him on the bum!
And they call it SPORT.....since when is it sport?????

I couldn't agree more, it's all heartbreaking. I was so sad yesterday that I had to channel it all into crafting and made a card in memory of Cecil the Lion here http://invisiblepinkcards.blogspot.co.uk/2015/07/rip-cecil.html. Also, for anyone who is interested, there is a link where you can donate to the Oxford university Wildlife conservation Research Unit here http://wildcru.org/. There are the people who are studying lions and were also following Cecil using a satellite tracker.
ReplyDeleteP.s. I'm not affiliated in any way with WildCRU, I just saw the link and thought I would make a small donation, and do my best to share the information for anyone else who would like to do the same, I hope you don't mind Kath.
Well said Kath, I too have signed many petitions over the last few days and months, whether it makes a difference or not, at least it is doing something to raise the profile. I was saddened to see Prince Harry with a gun next to a beautiful animal which was sadly dead.....
ReplyDeleteYou will be with us in spirit at Wendy's tomorrow and at our meet up tonight! I will take lots of photos! Enjoy your weekend. It is a bit of a shock to the system - it is warm AND sunny here in London!!!! Hugs, Anne xxx
There are no words are there Kath.......for once I am speechless.
ReplyDeleteI am really looking forward to the workshop, it will be wonderful to put names to faces and yes I live in the sunny south...LOL. Enjoy your weekend xx
You have said it so well, Kath. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteVery well said Kath.
ReplyDeleteThere are times when I wonder how 'man' has managed to survive this long with the utter stupidity of his behaviour and the worst thing is that at this moment in time we have more knowledge about our affect on the plant than ever before and yet there are still idiots that carry on regardless.
Toni xx
I think we all wonder about these kinds of people Kath.....what is wrong with them to want to do such horrendous things....why not try and use that wealth to help preserve instead of destroy....I doubt the Dentist will be extradicted....but he should be....Thanks for raising this issue, if we all keep signing and voicing our outrage, maybe we will get somewhere...I sure hope so...xx
ReplyDeleteI agree whole heartedly with what you say Kath. Canned hunting or any kind of hunting for pleasure is just wrong as far as I am concerned. It is good that some airlines have stopped transporting these so called trophies but sad that they didnt think to do this before the outcry over Cecils murder. Karen x
ReplyDeleteLike you Kath, I also wonder what the future holds for our children and grandchildren in this terrible world man has created. . . Growing up in a world where some people think its "right" to be able to pay to hunt and hill animals is horrific and I wonder where it will end. Animals survive all over the world for their beauty and part they play in our world, they are not here for man to use as targets in their crazy world of so called sport. I do hope that someone will make a difference and change this for all our sakes, most of all for the valuable creatures out there for all of us to enjoy, we all deserve a place on this planet and deserve to live the way nature intended. Enjoy your day Kath and happy crafting. Sue x
ReplyDeleteI'm with you all the way on this. And don't get me started on the government. I can feel my blood pressure going up already. On a happier note, I have taken a two day class with Wendy and she is amazing.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kath, for your not-rants this week . They were all on the money in my book. And since when does expressing your own opinion count as a rant?
ReplyDeleteA small bit from our/US news, though admittedly mean-spirited, this little man has been forced to close his dental office. There were memorial tokens piled at its front door, shaming posters and graffiti abounded.
His cowardice and flagrant disrespect for life has not escaped notice by a power larger than any of us.
