and the theme for this week is...
MONOCHROME
I made a Christmas Wall Hanger using Tim Holtz Idea-ology Christmas Stash pad, Stampers Anonymous Tattered Christmas and Mini Swirly Snowflakes stamp sets and one of my favourite Simon Says dies "Believe"
this week's project was inspired by the gorgeous new Idea-ology Christmas packaging and I'm holding my hands up, I'm one of those crafters who saves all the Idea-ology packaging, backing and acetate sheets, all stored in a huge box out in the garage for that "you never know when you might need them " rainy day. So I trimmed down the backing sheet from the Christmas Remnant Rubs...
cut a rectangle from paper from the Christmas Paper Stash and roughed up the edges with the Paper Distresser.I cut a smaller rectangle of the black Plaid paper, added a torn strip of a contrasting paper for a snow bank. I applied Ranger Opaque Texture Paste through the Starry Mini Layering Stencil from Set 31 and while it was drying, I stamped the super cute snowman from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Tattered Christmas using Ranger Archival Black on to the plaid paper and then 3 times on to Distress Watercolor paper. I cut out and layered each section and used Ranger's Detailer Brush with Black Soot and Vintage Photo Distress Oxide inks to add shading.
I fixed the snowman panel in place and stamped one of the snowflake images from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Mini Swirly Snowflakes around the edge with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Ranger Fine Detail White Embossing powder. Now for the "I'm not a happy bunny" moment. I felt that the snowman didn't stand out enough from the dark background so...
I stamped him again, cut out the whole image leaving a white border and the added layers as before.
I dabbed Picket Fence Distress Paint on to the Idea-ology Frozen Findings and sprinkled with Distress Clear Rocky Candy Glitter...
added Idea-ology Christmas Clippings and Holiday Talk Stickers...
I covered a piece of chipboard with Sticky Back Canvas to use as the backing panel, coloured around the edge with Black Soot Distress Oxide ink using the direct to paper technique...
added an Idea-ology Holiday Talk sticker to the hanger, Idea-ology Linen Ribbon and a white Eclectic Elements thread bow.

"What we need is more ... PLAID" - it's a variation on a classic Saturday Night Live sketch. I am amazed at how effective the monochromatic plaid is. Really the whole project is impressive with this color scheme.
