Hi folks..if you're a regular visitor...you'll probably have gathered by now that I'm a big fan of M&S...for those not resident in the UK...I'm sure you'll have heard of Marks and Spencer...affectionally known as "Marks & Sparks" or "Markies"...my one stop shop for everything...clothes...love their underwear...homeware...credit card...banking...insurance...not forgetting food and no one does Christmas quite like M&S...so on Sunday morning I set off with the pressie list and even I was surprised to be home by lunchtime with everything ticked off...along with card packs (all 50% off) for neighbours and folks I never see from one year to the next and their gorgeous wrapping papers (3 for the price of 2) and as always with my favourite store...great quality. And then I spied the 3 for 2 offers on the little bits and pieces you need to decorate your parcels and filled my boots...one for the parcels and a couple for the cubbyhole stash...
they call it parcel tape but to us crafters it's gorgeous sparkly washi tape...
and as if I didn't have enough to do...I couldn't resist making a couple of quick cards...
to add to the pile ready for "running the gaunlet of that dreaded slot" at the Post Office...no 3D foam pads and none of the usual embellishments because of the crazy postal charges...crikey I should have steeled myself...taken smelling salts and warned the bank manager...since when did 2nd class stamps cost 50p...it's an absolute disgrace how much it costs to send Christmas Greetings to your family and friends.
See you all tomorrow
Hugs Kath xxx
I love to follow your blog and it made me laugh when I saw today's. That is exactly what I thought when I visited M&S,what lovely crafting goodies, never mind using the ribbons and tapes for the wrapping of pressies......got better ideas for it!!!

Postage sure has to be considered nowadays!! I sent a package overseas and almost fainted!!
ReplyDeleteI can't live without my M&S PJ's or slippers, the RA in my feet is worse without the M&S slippers - no one else will do. Grr postage costs - I get the right hump over that - I've made a lot of OLC's and no embellishments this year too! Off shopping with my mum tomorrow and will be heading into M&S to find one or two items that I need for me crafting!! TFS Kath I can look for that box of goodies x
ReplyDeleteThe washi cards look great.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant cards Kath, amazing what you can find when you have your crafter head on! As for postage, it's more expensive than the card and a for international, it's mind boggling! Hugs x
ReplyDeleteI'm an M+S girl since birth Kath. ...I love their latest add campaign too. The other place for great crafting goodies which are sooo cheap is Wilkinson's....not sure if everywhere has them? I agree with the postal charges, when I went to the post office they put the cards into the dreaded letter slot. I was relieved that most went through but some got upped to large letter rate! Have a creative day, I'm off to work now xx
ReplyDeleteThese look fab Kath. Please don't get me going on postal charges its not good for my blood pressure! I posted a parcel to the US last year, quite small and just containing very light items - £27 this year I sent from US Amazon! Susan x
ReplyDeleteLooks like a trip to M&S is needed today. Lovely cards with the tape Kath and as for postage l am not even going there x Susan x
ReplyDeleteStunning cards, they look so effective.
ReplyDeleteRebecca.
Unfortunately I've never had much luck with M&S. When I've bought clothing from them it has fallen apart in no time. I'm sure I'm just buying the wrong stuff!
ReplyDeleteYour cards however are gorgeous! And I love the washi tape! x
I love M&S too. Haven't looked at their Christmas wrapping as I have enough already but will be popping in to see if they have any of those fab packs left, love them and your cards are lovely too. Most of my cards were 69p to post and as for the two I sent to Canada, eeeeeeek!
ReplyDeleteWe emigrated to Australia seven years ago and I really do miss Marks and Sparks. When ever we visit it is one of my first ports of call to stock up on undies and clothes. Our post has gone up too, a card to England from here is $2.55. It has just cost me in excess of $85 to send my cards overseas!
ReplyDeleteoo Kath - I was in M and S the other day and didn't spot these! Lol - will have to make a return visit! Looks fab and your cards are gorgeous xx
ReplyDeleteOh wow, for some reason I never go to M&S very often these days (a bti out of my way), looking at this tho, I think I shall have to make the effort, fab looking cards too!!
ReplyDeleteLove your washi tape cards Kath. Yesterday found some Christmas stamps from last year so quids in already. I must admit that the cards that have any raised areas on them I only give or deliver by hand and make flat ones for the post! X
ReplyDeleteOh dear Kath, you are so right, I have had to take out a mortgage to pay for posting Christmas cards and pressies around the world today..........
ReplyDeleteI bought that same pack of tags, they are really good quality, missed the washi tape though so may have to go back..... love the cards you made. Hugs, Anne x
these are gorgeous, love the tape, must look out for some. I posted some of my cards today but for some I used the Scout Post, only 30p!!!
ReplyDeleteRM is a rip off grrr!

Hi Kath, lovely cards with the washi tape, I did see it but bought other things instead. M&S seem to have the best quality for that price every year, but you can't please some folk not sure what some of them are looking for when they say they can't find any pretty Christmas cards. There must be loads of people who don't send cards nowadays because of the postage, not sure when 2nd class went up to 50p, last time I spoke of the price it was 39p I think...Trish
