Hi folks...Twelfth Night...the 5th of January is traditionally the day that the Christmas decs come down to be stored away for another year but this "never knows what day of the week it is" crafter has just realised that was 2 days ago. There seems to be a trend nowadays to shed the house of everything Christmas within days of the big day...in some cases on Boxing Day...for goodness sake...how sad is that...the true meaning of Christmas seems to have got horribly lost in this modern commercialised world. Legend has it that it is very unlucky to un-deck your halls before the 5th or to leave your tree a-twinkling after that date and if like Miss Memory here you've been caught out...you're in for a shocker...superstition suggests that if you missed the magic deadline...the decorations should be left in place all year long to avoid misfortune. Crikey what a dilemma...it would definitely be a time saver in the run up to Christmas 2015 but on the other hand...I don't know if I'm ready for a whole year of Christmas sparkle over-kill. I'm not superstitious but best not to chance fate so the "as old as the hills and a bit tatty around the edges" angel with attitude has agreed to take one for the team...forego her 11 month hibernation and take up residence in the cubbyhole to ward off any bringers of doom and gloom until it's time to return to her rightful place on top of the Christmas Tree.
And this traumatised "calendar challenged" crafty person needs a little playtime...a break from the conveyor belt of Fiskars samples...the deadlines can wait for one day...it's time to clear my workdesk and have some fun with a Timmie Tag...
See you all tomorrow
Hugs Kath xxx
I always leave my decorations in place through Jan. 6(Epiphany). I relax and enjoy them through the 12 days of Christmas and the day the Magi arrived. Have a happy, healthy 2015!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Kath. I stick to the tradition of twelfth night too. Love the look of the goodies on your desk and cannot wait to see what you do with them. Have a Good Day. Hugs Rita xxx
ReplyDeleteIt's been crazy here, too, trying to remember what day of the month and day of the week it is ... but I do know this: today is the day I hauled 6 bags of "stuff" out of the craft room closet ... there is empty shelf space! And there is not one thing I tossed that I will miss!! Next step: the rest of the room!
ReplyDeleteOur had to come down at the weekend Kath as we are in the middle of a week of dog sitting our son's dog. Driving up to his 3 times a day and spending time with his gorgeous but enormous dog. All the walking has shed any post Christmas choc calories! And yes when we got there we found his tree up...so we ended up taking that down too. Mind you whilst he is skiing the last thing he would bother about is his Christmas tree...LOL. Your angel will see off any bad luck just with one look! Have a fun Tim day...I hope to get a play on Sunday xx
ReplyDeleteHi Kath looks like you are going to have fun with all the timmie products. I love angels and I am sure yours will be there watching over you and Buddy this year x
ReplyDeleteI love your button buddy angel - she certainly has some attitude.
ReplyDeleteHave a fun tim-tag day.
Toni xx
I usually take mine down at Epiphany, which is the 6th but I was a day late too.... I love your cute angel, she will keep you company nicely! Hope you have fun with your tag today... Hugs, Anne x
ReplyDeleteHi Kath, l nornally stick to tradition but this time because there was so much to take down l did it over a few days after new years day but didn't take my main tree down until the 12th day after Christmas which l thought was the 6th Jan some say 5th but if you count from the day after Christmas 26th then 12 days becomes the 6th Jan my theory but l don't suppose it matters....lol l too love your angel and seeing your stamps behind is inspiring hope to see some of your wonderful creations soon take care xx
