We've been very fortunate in my neck of the woods to escape the recent storms that devastated parts of the UK...my heart goes out to all the families who've been affected...the feeling of helplessness as you watch flood water engulf your home and destroy your possessions must be overwhelming...heartbreaking at any time but even more so at Christmas. With more rain forecast for the rest of the week...take care and stay safe everyone.

The weather has been awful for some folk and as you say, heartbreaking. The emergency services have been doing a fabulous job.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it always the way Kath. You look at something and think that it can be polished off in a short space of time but then it turns into a massive task. The ornaments are looking great and I'm sure you will be really pleased with the effort once you have them done.

ReplyDeleteSince moving to Cornwall five years ago I've become used to gale force winds and heavy rain - whatever happened to 'sunny Cornwall' I keep asking myself - but I am lucky as I live on top of a hill overlooking Truro town so the worst that happens is that I have to tie my greenhouse down - not glass unfortunately so no weight to keep it in one place - and after really bad rain I have to wait for it to drain from my back path so that I can go out of the kitchen door. I really don't think that I could cope with the terrible flooding up country. You tend to think of it just being water damage...until you see all the filth that comes along with it. My heart goes out to everyone affected but at the same time, my heart sings at the way the community all get together to help each and every person. I heard that a lot of the shelters were remaining empty purely because unaffected neighbours were opening up their doors rather than have people have to camp out in halls. I even heard on the radio yesterday that a very smart hotel was opening up its doors offering nice warm beds, even though it was actually shut for a couple of weeks before Christmas to give the staff a break before their busy time. That's the true Christmas spirit.
Now on to your wonderful shapes...they are looking good, I have to say. I've never done anything like that before in my life so can't imagine the work it involves. The nearest I've got is to order some Distress Ink storage units to put together and decorate. I went the easy route and used chalk paint, mainly because it doesn't show brush strokes but also because I'm too chicken to try decoupage lol.
Can't wait to find out if you get them finished in time for the tree...or wherever you decide they should hang in all their glory.

Hi Kath LOVE your latest creations,you know you love a challenge hee hee.Yes I agree like you say,awful to see the floods and damage to peoples homes,I almost feel guilty when we are all snuggled up here.We have been lucky here in St.Agnes although battered and bruised we are used to the gales and heavy rain,apart from some flooded fields no damage to houses.Take care,Happy Crafting.Huggles to you and Buddy.xx
