A Cool Yule Shaker Card

Hi folks, I was super excited when the Sizzix Merry Moose and Cool Yule Thinlits arrived in a Happy Mail parcel from Santa Tim and Mario. I have a list of other stuff I should be doing but couldn't resist switching from Autumn/Halloween mode to Christmas. In a flash, I'd looked out my pile of Classic/Metallic Kraft Stock left- overs (yes I'm a thrifty Scot and keep all the little bits and pieces) and my trusty Sidekick (the moose die won't fit in the Sidekick but everything else will)
and spent a happy afternoon die-cutting and assembling these cuties
I'm saving Mr Merry Moose for a project I'll be sharing later, in the meantime, here's a Cool Yule shaker card featuring a family of adorable snowmen, aren't they just the cutest...

I trimmed Distress Watercolor card to measure 4.1/2" x 6.1/2" and applied Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink lightly all over using a mini round blending tool. I then applied Tumbled Glass and Festive Berries Distress Oxide inks through the Mint Shifter Layering Stencil, spritzed with water, patted with a paper towel and die cut 3 circle apertures.
I trimmed White Fun Foam to be slightly smaller than the panel and using the panel as a template, die cut 3 matching circle apertures. I find this is a far easier and quicker way to create a shaker card than doubling up 3D foam tape, trying to fit it around circle apertures and then adding small pieces to make the panel level. I fixed Heat Resistant Acetate on the back of the panel, dusted the front with an anti-static powder tool, inked the snowflake stamp (masking off the sentiment) from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Christmastime with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Ranger Superfine White Embossing Powder.
I trimmed the red snowflake paper from Tim Holtz Idea-ology Christmas Paper Stash to be slightly smaller than the panel and added snowbanks cut from white card to show through the apertures. I fixed the Fun Foam panel on top and filled the circles with Stampendous Chunky White Embossing Powder, Shaved Ice Fragments and Ice Crystal Sequins. I applied Festive Berries Distress Oxide ink to darken the areas around the snowflakes on the front panel, buffed with a soft cloth to remove the ink from the embossing, fixed the panel to the Fun Foam and matted on to a 5" x 7" White Card Blank. I added the snowmen die cut from Classic/Metallic Kraft Stock, white card and card coloured with Tumbled Glass and Festive Berries, one of the trees from Merry Moose, stamped the sentiments from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Great Outdoors with Black Soot Archival onto to white card, fussy cut and fixed in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte.

According to the boffins from the Met Office, the weather is about to turn wintry, snow and high winds are heading our way at the end of the week so the Cubbyhole Crew will be back at the die-cutting station having more fun with our cute Cool Yule friends.
Toodle-oo for now

  7. Love your snowmen. They are really cute. Just wondering what size card is standard for you. I don't think you are using the US 4.25 X 5.5. I think your (European) are larger so just wondering what size you use. thanks as always for sharing.
