Creativation 2019 Tim Holtz Blog Hop and Give-Away

I'm so excited to be taking part in the Creativation 2019 Tim Holtz Blog Hop and Give-Away alongside so many awesome and very talented friends and I hope you're having fun and enjoying all the inspirational samples along the way.
I'm sharing a card I made with the Architecture stamp set and oh boy I was giddy with excitement when I first saw this stamp set because I have a passion for old buildings in general and castles, churches or cathedrals in particular. We have a rich heritage of old architecture in the UK, Westminster Abbey, St Paul's Cathedral, York Minister to name a few, all built by hand, hundreds of years ago, some dating back to the Norman Conquest, yes that's 1066 if my memory serves me right, way before mechanisation and it's an amazing surreal spiritual experience to walk amongst the beautifully intricate hand carved stone columns, lovingly created by very skilled stone masons using just a hammer and chisel.
Luckily us crafters have lots of tools at our disposable and despite what my adorable Professor thinks, my Gothic Architecture Cathedral card was far easier to construct requiring just a pair of sharp scissors and a little bit of patience.

I began by stamping the image inked with Black Soot Archival ink on to 3 pieces of Distress Watercolor Card and heat embossed with Ranger Superfine Clear Embossing Powder.

I brushed a generous coat of water over the image and dropped in Antique Linen, Vintage Photo, Pumice Stone and Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide inks, letting the water work it's magic and blend the colours.

I dried the panel and applied more ink with a wet brush, dried again and repeated the process until I had built up the colour and achieved the look I wanted.

I trimmed one of the panels to be slightly smaller than an A6 card blank and distressed the edges using Tim Holtz Paper Distresser. I cut off the top left corner section and started to fussy cut the different sections from the remaining two panels, popping them up with Tim Holtz/Sizzix Mini Foam Adhesive to create dimension. I fussy cut the window sections of the small panel in the centre of the photo and added acetate to the back. I added Mini Foam Adhesive around the matching area on the main panel to contain the Prima Art Stones and once I had added them carefully (because those little blighters go everywhere) I quickly fixed the acetate panel on top before they could escape.

I continued to fussy cut and layer the different sections from the remaining panels until I was happy with the dimension.

I fixed the panel to Idea-ology Classic Kraftstock, lightly sanded back to reveal the kraft core and inked around the edges with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.  I wound cord around the panel, tied in a bow and added an Idea-ology Story Stick and a Hex Fastener. I fixed the panel to an A6 white card blank using Distress Collage Medium Matte and added Small Talk Chit Chat Stickers

To finish I applied blobs (the technical term) of Distress Collage Medium Matte with a small paintbrush randomly around the edge of the card and sprinkled on Prima Mini Art Stones.
