I decorated a Dina Wakley Media Canvas Board featuring a cute Tim Holtz Idea-logy Found Relatives Shipmate off to sail the oceans blue in search of the treasures of the deep and did you know that Tim Holtz is brand of the month over at Simon Says Stamp.
If you visit my blog regularly you will know I need no excuse, Tim Holtz is my go-to brand of the month, every month so I decided to have some fun with some of the newly released Tim Holtz/Sizzix Chapter 3 dies which are not necessarily just for Halloween or Christmas. I began by trimming the Dina Wakley Media Canvas Board in half to create a 6" x 9" panel and applied a coat of White Gesso.
I applied Ranger Texture Paste Transparent Gloss through the Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Bubbles Mini Layering Stencil from Set 5, flicked on some drops of Distress Resist Spray and set aside to dry.
I used the watercolor smooshing technique to add colour to the panel, using Broken China, Mermaid Lagoon and Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide inks. If you haven't tried this technique before, it is very easy and great fun. I tapped the Broken China ink pad on to a piece of plastic, spritzed with water, placed on the panel and moved the ink around with my fingers. The ink does not absorb into this surface as it would do when working on Watercolor paper so you need to heat set each layer before continuing with the next color. I repeated with the three colours until I was happy with the background, flicked on some splatters of Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide ink and wiped the colour back from the Transparent Gloss Texture Paste stencilling with a dry cloth.
I die-cut the Cauldron Bigz die and Steampunk Parts Thinlits from Distress Mixed Media Heavystock and embossed the cauldron with the Lumber 3D Texture Fade. I tapped the Versamark ink on to both die-cuts and heat embossed several layers using a mix of Stampendous Aged Black and Aged Silver Embossing Enamels from my stash.
Even with a few layers of the Embossing Enamels, I love how the texture from the 3D Lumber Texture Fade is still visible on the cauldron
I fixed the cauldron on the panel and added Prima Art Stones, Idea-ology Mummy Cloth, Bauble Findings and a shell from my stash, all fixed in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte.
To create the underwater foliage, I used Tim Holtz/Sizzix Large Funky Festive Thinlits die-cut from scraps of Distress Mixed Media Heavystock coloured with the 3 Distress Oxide inks and white cardstock
I applied a light coat of Distress Collage Medium Matte to the foliage and shell and sprinkled with Distress Clear Rock Candy Glitter.
I added Idea-ology Expedition Ephemera behind the Steampunk Parts die-cut, trimmed down this cute shipmate from Idea-ology Found Relatives and used Tim Holtz/Sizzix Handmade BigZ XL die to create the sentiment from scraps of the Chipped Sapphire and white card.

I used Idea-ology Chitchat and Small Talk Stickers to complete the sentiment
I trimmed white card to measure 6.1/4" x 9.1/4", heat embossed a narrow border around the edge using with Stampendous Aged Silver Embossing Enamel and fixed the Canvas Media Board in place.
