I trimmed Distress Watercolor card to create a 4.1/2" x 6.1/2" panel, smooshed Squeezed Lemonade and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide inks on to the craft mat of my Glass Media Mat, spritzed with water and dragged the panel through the ink. I dried with my heat tool and pounced the panel back into the ink repeatedly to pick up the droplets, drying between each layer.
I sprayed Black Soot Distress Spray Stain on to the craft mat, pounced the Weathered Tiles Stencil #59 into the ink and pressed on to the panel to create a monoprint effect. I repeated the process until I was happy with the background.I inked the image from Purrfect Gift with Versafine Onyx Black ink, stamped on to Strathmore Bristol Smooth Watercolor card and die cut using the Cat Pile #8 die.
I added Design Tape across the bottom section of the panel. To create the hinged opening, I placed the die on the panel and positioned the top cutting plate about 1/4" in from the left hand edge - the section of the die not covered by the plate won't cut.
I scored where the sections were still connected to the panel and applied Black Soot Distress Paint to the back of the die cut section.
I decided to trim the width of the panel down to 4" so that the opening section was more central. I coloured the stamped die-cut with Zig Clean Color Brush Markers and fixed to the panel, making sure it was aligned with the die cut section. I matted the panel on to Black card and fixed to a 5" x 7" white card blank.
I inked the sentiments with Versafine Onyx Black ink, stamped on to scraps of Distress Watercolor card, fussy cut and fixed to the card, using two of the sentiments as handles to reveal what was inside.
I stamped the individual cat from the stamp set, die cut using the matching die and fixed inside the card along with the rest of the sentiments. To finish I added Black, Yellow and Gold sequins, fixed in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte.
