and the theme for this week is...
MONOCHROME
I definitely stepped a little bit out of my comfort zone this week and used the colour PURPLE to create an invitation to get your spook on and head over to the Halloween party at the Skeleton's house for some wicked fun.
I started by trimming Distress Mixed Media Heavystock to 4.1/4" x 6.1/4", placed it into my SplatBox and coloured with Seeedless Preserves and Victorian Velvet Distress Oxide Sprays with a little help from my trusty Distress Sprayer.
I used Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Burst Shifter Layering Stencil with Seedless Preserves and Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide inks to add interest to the background.
I inked the dots background stamp from Circles and Dots with Seedless Preserves and holding the stamp in my hand, stamped randomly on the background.
I stamped the cobweb and skull from Life Of The Party and the border and rib cage images from Weird Science inked with Black Soot Distress Archival on to the panel.
I then stamped the skull and ribcage again and the skeleton hands and bones from Cadaverous on to scraps of Distress Mixed Media HeavyStock with Black Soot Distress Archival and fussy cut. I will admit cutting out the ribcage was a bit of a surgical challenge and the patient endured a few broken ribs before the procedure was complete but nothing that couldn't be fixed with my trusty Tim Holtz Mini Snips and a little perseverance. I coloured the cut-outs slightly with Antique Linen and Seedless Preserves Distress Oxide inks using a mini round blending tool. I fixed the ribcage in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte and popped the skull, bones and hands up on Tim Holtz Mini Foam Adhesive to create dimension. Anatomically correct NO but more pleasing to the eye.
I inked the hat from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Distinguished with Seedless Preserves Distress Oxide ink, coloured the hat band with a black marker and heat embossed with Ranger Superfine Clear Embossing Powder. I added an Idea-ology Creepy Eye and glossy accents to the other eye and nose.
I coloured a scrap of Distress Mixed Media HeavyStock lightly with Antique Linen and Seedless Preserves Distress Oxides and stamped the balloon images from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Crazy Things with Black Soot Distress Archival. There is a matching die set for Crazy Things but my Mini Snips were at hand, so I quickly fussy cut them, added Black Eclectic thread to the back, fixed in place with Mini Foam Adhesive and added Glossy Accents. I stamped the bow tie and sentiment from Life Of The Party on to a left over scrap and added to the panel.
I threaded the balloon strings under the skeleton's hand and added a thread bow.
I added the panel to a 5" x 7" card blank covered with Purple Classic Kraft Stock, sanded back to reveal the kraft core. I'm happy to report that Mr Skeleton is recovering well from his surgery and will be ready to welcome his guests to the party.
