AALL& Create - What The Quack

Hi my friends, Tuesday comes around again and that means it's time to share my Guest Designer project for AALL&Create. Before we go any further, I just want to let you know that I haven't, despite what you might think, gone QUACKERS!!! I was flicking through my AALL&Create stamps looking for a suitable image to make a Christmas card when I stumbled on an old favourite #135 Quack The Duck by Olga Heldwein. The old brain went into over-drive and I couldn't stop myself making an alternative Christmas card using these adorable ducks and mixing it up with #261 Magical House designed by Tracy Evans. It's that "once you get an idea stuck in your head, you just have to run with it" feeling, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

I trimmed Distress Watercolor card to create a  6" square "Go Big or Go Home" panel, added a circle, snow border and a previously stamped Magical House, all cut from masking paper
I spritzed the panel lightly with water which will allow the inks to blend and sprayed Blueprint Sketch, Frayed Burlap and Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide inks. I dried the panel, spritzed again with water and dabbed with kitchen roll to create that oxidised water droplet effect.
I removed the circle mask and sprayed around the edges with water which reactivated the ink. I tilted the panel allowing the ink to run back into the circle creating a wintry moon look.
I applied Ranger Opague Texture Paste through Stencil #39 Lotza Dotz and sprinkled with Ranger Superfine White Embossing Powder. Once the paste had dried, I heat embossed until melted. Texture Paste will absorb the colour of the ink underneath it so I find by using white embossing powder, it helps keep the paste white.
I inked the images from Quack The Duck with Versafine Clair Nocturne ink and stamped on to Strathmore Bristol Smooth Watercolor Card.
I removed the mask from the Magical House and coloured the images with Zig Clean Color Brush Markers and a mix of drops of Blueprint Sketch and Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide Sprays using a water brush.
Oh Happy Days, the Quack The Duck stamp set now has a set of matching dies. I added splatters of the Blueprint Sketch and Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide sprays left on my craft mat and fixed the first duck in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte and the front two ducks with Sizzix Mini Foam Adhesive
I stamped the sentiment from Quack The Duck with Versafine Clair Nocturne on to a scrap of Distress Watercolor card, fussy cut and coloured with Brushed Corduroy Distress ink. I added scribbly stars on the background using a Sakura White Gelly Roll Pen.
and added a sticker from Tim Holtz Idea-ology Christmas Sticker book. I added Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink to the edges of the panel using a mini round blending tool and fixed the panel to a 6.1/2" x 6.1/2" white card blank.

Happy Crafting
Hugs Kath xxx
