You are my sunshine...

Hi Everyone...

my first post as a new Design Team Member. The theme this week is "Inspired By A Song" and I chose a song recorded by Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash...guaranteed to make me smile on a chilly winter's day...
YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE
"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are grey
You never know, dear, how much I love you
Please don't take my sunshine away"

and made a Bird Crazy Wall Hanger
I started by spritzing Ranger Watercolor Paper with water and then applied a wash of Stormy Sky and Mustard Seed Distress Paints with the Ranger Broad Water Brush. Once dry I used the same colour of Distress Inks with a Mini Blending Tool to intensify the colours and blend. I used Layering Stencil Rays and Fossilized Amber Distress Ink to create the sun ray effect in the corner and then overstamped with a Circle stamp inked with Simon Says Stamp White Pigment Ink...sprinkled with Ranger White Embossing Powder and heat set...
I stamped the flower images from Tim Holtz Wildflowers Stamp Set...first in Black Archival Ink and then the larger flower image with Simon Says Stamp White Pigment Ink...sprinkled with Ranger White Embossing Powder and heat set.

then it was time to have some stamping and die-cutting fun. I stamped the image from the Bird Crazy Stamp Set and the hat and set of hearts from the Crazy Things Stamp Set on to watercolour card with Archival Black Ink and used the Ranger Detailer Water Brush to colour the bird with Mustard Seed and Twisted Citron...the hat with Antique Linen and Twisted Citron Mini Distress Inks and used the Candied Apple Distress Marker for the beak and the hearts. Easy peasy to die cut using the matching Thinlits Bird Crazy and Crazy Things Dies. I added Glossy Accents to the eyes and beak of the bird and the hearts.
I used the Scribbles and Splats Thinlits to create a nest for the bird to sit on...coloured with Walnut Stain Distress Ink and added a strip of  Linen Ribbon to create texture. I also used the linen ribbon to create the hanger for the project. Finishing off with Tim Holtz Idea-ology Chit Chat and Big Chat Stickers for the sentiment.
You can find all the supplies I used over at
I can't wait to see what song you choose for your project and if you need any further inspiration...then pop over to the

Up Up And Away...Fingers Crossed...

Hi folks...I'll be jumping out of bed...woken from my cosy slumber at 5.00am...making a quick dash to the airport for a 6.00am check-in...not the best start to anybody's day and after my last Flybe nightmare experience in November...flight cancelled due to bad weather and a 7 hour long train journey...I'll be like a cat on a hot tin roof until we're hurtling down the runway...UP UP and AWAY...
en route to Birmingham for Stitches...the CHSI Trade Show. I'm so looking forward to this 4 day fun get-away...spending time with my fabulous Fiskars Family buddies and very special crafty friends and woohoo this lucky crafter has a hot date this morning with Mr H for a fabulous 3 hour long workshop...I can't be late for that so here's hoping Mr Flybe will put his foot on the gas and touchdown right on time.
In the meantime I'm sharing a few of the Fiskars samples I made for the show...featuring the new 2016 products...
