Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because
Can you believe the Monday Challenge is celebrating it's 14th birthday. The time has flown by hasn’t it! We would like to say a huge thank you to all of our fellow crafters who have joined us over the years and we hope you will continue to join us.
As it’s the first Monday of the month we are showcasing a particular brand/company. This week we are all using our very own Simon Says Stamp Exclusive Products. You don’t have to use them to join in with the challenge but if you have them we would love to see them used.
We are also welcoming back the lovely Carrie Swift aka redfire_studios into the Designer Spotlight. If you haven't visited her blog before then you are in for a real treat!
The theme for this week is...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
I created a birthday card using Simon Says Divine Peony and Birthday Wishes Dies, Old Letter background stamp and Circular Lace Stencil.
I trimmed paper from 49andMarket Color Swatch Willow 6" x 8" Collection Pack to 4.3/4" x 5.3/4".
I inked Simon Says Old Letter with Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide ink and stamped randomly on the background paper.
I added two strips trimmed from Paper Rose Botanical Blooms paper included in Simon Says Graceful Flowers Card Kit.
I die-cut Simon Says Divine Peony from Distress Mixed Media HeavyStock and coloured the stems and leaves with Bundled Sage and Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide inks using Simon Says Round Detail Blending Brushes.
I coloured the flowers and buds using Abandoned Coral and Wild Honey Distress Oxide inks.
I shaded slightly over the patterned paper strips with the same colours to match in with the flowers.
I applied Distress Texture Paste Opaque through Simon Says Circular Lace Stencil to add texture on the background.
Once the paste was dry, I added 49andMarket Willow Rub-on Transfers
I fixed the Peony stem and leaves in place with Distress Collage Medium and added the bud and flower head popped up on 3D foam squares.
I die-cut Simon Says Birthday Wishes 3 times from Distress Watercolor card, layered to create dimension and fixed to the panel with Distress Collage Medium.
I added splatters of Distress Resist Spray, sprinkled with white embossing powder and heat set. I lightly shaded the edges of the panel with Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide ink using a tiny blending tool and fixed the panel to a 5" x 7" white card blank.
