Winter Woodlands Card and Envelope

Hi my friends, woohoo what a great Stampers Anonymous Christmas YouTube Live party with Tim and Mario to celebrate the Christmas release, fabulous stamp sets to suit all tastes, more great layering stencils and as always amazing inspiration from my fellow Makers. If you missed out on the fun, you can always catch up on replay at Tim's YouTube Channel HERE or Blog HERE. I made 3 projects for the Live using the gorgeously rustic Winter Woodlands stamps and Ticking and Grain background, stamps which I know are going to be much-used favourites.

I'm sharing the card and envelope I made and giving you a behind the scenes peek of how my creative process works because nine times out of ten, I have no idea what I'm going to make and I get around that by just creating backgrounds and taking it from there. Things are likely to get messy so I laid down my (can't live without now) Tim Holtz Media Surface Mat and spritzed Antique Linen Distress Oxide Spray and a little spray of Frosty Mint Distress Mica Stain on the mat, spritzed with water, dragged a panel of Distress Watercolor card through the inks, dried, tapped back in to pick up the remaining droplets and repeated the process until I had 3 panels with neutral backgrounds to work with.
I added random stamping on the panels using Ticking and Grain and images from Winter Woodlands inked with a mix of Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide and Distress Archival, Bundled Sage Distress Oxide, Ground Espresso Distress Oxide and Distress Archival and added splatters of Frosty Mint and Unravelled Distress Mica Stains.

This is the panel I chose for the card, trimmed to 3.3/4"x 5.3/4" and stamped the tree image inked with Rustic Wilderness Distress Archival ink.

I stamped the banner images from the stamp set on to scraps of the coloured card, inked with Ground Espresso Distress Archival ink, trimmed and roughed up the edges, added Idea-ology Halloween Pearl Droplets, matted the panel on to white card coloured with Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide ink using the direct to paper technique and matted on to 4" x 6" white card blank.
I made an envelope for the card from one of the other panels and added extra images stamped randomly to fill in the blanks.
To hide some ink splotches on the back of the envelope , I stamped the Grain background, inked with Ground Espresso Distress Oxide and assembled the envelope. I just think that it makes a card extra special if it has a matching envelope.
I'll be back soon to share the tag and gift wrapping, in the meantime, have fun with whatever you're making and Happy "Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Christmas" shopping.
Hugs Kath xxx

  1. So much love for these makes! After years of lurking I'm beginning to imagine (and making purchases to support this ...) creating some fun things on my own. Thank you for sharing so much of your talent with us.
