The Dodgy Alarm Clock Strikes Again...

Hi folks...it's that time of  year when the clocks go back one hour in the UK heralding the start of Winter. I DO NOT enjoy the dark mornings or the fact that it's pitch back at 4pm and I seriously hope I can find the reset button on my dodgy Furry Alarm Clock...apparently there is no automatic daylight saving time adjustment on his time-piece and being bounced out of bed at 5.00am instead of 6.00am this morning means it's going to be a VERY VERY LONG day and not something I wish to repeat come those chilly dark winter mornings.
Please don't tell His Furry Highness but there are some advantages to having a few more hours in the crafting day and on that subject, I'm sharing more "having fun with stickers" cards using the "Kind Flowers" November Card Kit from Simon Says Stamp.

But it's time for our morning stroll adventure to the forest apparently...the Furry Boy's Built-In Clock knows to the minute when it's time for me to dish up his grub and once I'm showered, dressed and just finishing off my second coffee, he's standing at the cupboard where his collar and lead are kept, raring to go and today is no exception. I may be wrong but I think the chances of us having company at this unearthly time of day are virtually NIL.
Enjoy your day whatever you have planned and I'll catch up with you all tomorrow.

The Best Laid Plans...

H folks...actually I had no intentions of posting today but sadly yesterday's Friday Girls' trip was cancelled at the last minute so I thought I would spend the day tidying up the garden but we all know that the British weather has a habit of knocking plans for any outdoor activities on the head...for starters it was far too cold and everything was soaking wet after a week of rain. If truth be told, I didn't need much persuading to stay indoors because the "Kind Flowers" November Card Kit from Simon Says Stamp was in that pile of happy mail arrivals...
containing a gorgeous stamp set, yummy papers, beautiful speciality embossed papers and stickers. The kit, as far as I know, is still available to buy...you can check out the contents and all the details HERE.
I have to confess it's years since I've used stickers but hey...let it not be said that this old crafter isn't up for a challenge and once I started I couldn't stop. If you need to make quick and easy cards, it seems Stickers may be the solution you are looking for. Here are the first 3 cards I made in just over 30 minutes...
adding sequins as an afterthought for a little touch of bling...

and there's more...I'll be back tomorrow to share the next batch.
Toodle-oo for now

Woohoo...Tick...Tick...Tick...

Hi Everyone...it's been a busy few weeks in the cubbyhole but woohoo...the pile of special projects I've been working on has been TICKED OFF the crafty list...
but with the weekend creeping up on me and my DT project for next week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge now top priority on the never ending list, it was time for the cubbyhole crew to go into production line mode, killing two (or even) six birds with one stone and filling up the Christmas Card Box at the same time...

and breathe...
with that particular job ticked off the list, I turned my attention to the happy mail that arrived when the last thing I needed was the distraction of new crafty play things. So this old kid made herself a cuppa and settled down for a very enjoyable "just like Christmas morning" parcel opening session.
A big thank you to my lovely crafting friend Lee from me for the gorgeous felted card and beautifully crocheted purse and hugs and snuggles from the Furry Boy for his toys and treats.
And it's Friday and no crafting playtime for me today instead it's a "stopping off for coffee and lunch" road trip with lots of chat along the way in the company of my crazy friends aka the Friday Girls kind of a day and hey all the new goodies will still be here when I get back. Have a great weekend whatever you're planning and I'll see you all on Monday with my "flying in by the seat of my pants" DT project for Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge.

Tim Holtz Halloween Inspiration Series - Spooky Vignette Box

Hi folks...today I'm sharing the last of the projects I made for the Tim Holtz Halloween Inspiration Series...a Spooky Vignette Box...

I cut paper from the Idea-ology Halloween Kraft-Stock pad to fit the inside and outside of the largest of the Vignette boxes and sanded the paper with the Sanding Grip to expose some of the kraft core. I stamped the Ghosts, Stars and Spiders from the Halloween Cling Foam stamp set on to the papers using Picket Fence, Spiced Marmalade and Black Soot Distress Paints and heat embossed the spiders with Ranger Clear Embossing Powder. I decorated the frame of the Vignette Box with Halloween Design Tape and fixed the papers in place with Distress Collage Medium.
I added teased out Quilting Down from my stash, Halloween Ephemera, Skulls grunged up with Black Soot Distress Crayon, Boneyard Findings, an Apothecary Vial, a Word Key coloured with Spiced Marmalade Distress Crayon, a Cross Bones Adornment and Halloween Alpha Dice sanded around the edges.
a Shaped Token, Typed Tokens, Halloween Trim and Halloween Clippings Stickers...
I stamped an extra Ghost on to the Kraft-Stock paper, cut out and fixed to the top of the box...
Happy Crafting whatever you are making today
See you all soon

Simon Says...Monochrome

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog...thank you for joining us for last week's challenge...we hope you can join us this week too because...

and the theme for this week is...
MONOCHROME
I made a Christmas Wall Hanger using Tim Holtz Idea-ology Christmas Stash pad, Stampers Anonymous Tattered Christmas and Mini Swirly Snowflakes stamp sets and one of my favourite Simon Says dies "Believe"

this week's project was inspired by the gorgeous new Idea-ology Christmas packaging and I'm holding my hands up, I'm one of those crafters who saves all the Idea-ology packaging, backing and acetate sheets, all stored in a huge box out in the garage for that "you never know when you might need them " rainy day. So I trimmed down the backing sheet from the Christmas Remnant Rubs...
cut a rectangle from paper from the Christmas Paper Stash and roughed up the edges with the Paper Distresser.
I cut a smaller rectangle of the black Plaid paper, added a torn strip of a contrasting paper for a snow bank. I applied Ranger Opaque Texture Paste through the Starry Mini Layering Stencil from Set 31 and while it was drying, I stamped the super cute snowman from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Tattered Christmas using Ranger Archival Black on to the plaid paper and then 3 times on to Distress Watercolor paper. I cut out and layered each section and used Ranger's Detailer Brush with Black Soot and Vintage Photo Distress Oxide inks to add shading.
I fixed the snowman panel in place and stamped one of the snowflake images from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Mini Swirly Snowflakes around the edge with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Ranger Fine Detail White Embossing powder. Now for the "I'm not a happy bunny" moment. I felt that the snowman didn't stand out enough from the dark background so...
I stamped him again, cut out the whole image leaving a white border and the added layers as before.
I dabbed Picket Fence Distress Paint on to the Idea-ology Frozen Findings and sprinkled with Distress Clear Rocky Candy Glitter...
added Idea-ology Christmas Clippings and  Holiday Talk Stickers...
and used Simon Says Stamp "Believe" die for the sentiment, cutting 2 layers from the black paper using the outline die and 3 layers for the sentiment from white cardstock.

I covered a piece of chipboard with Sticky Back Canvas to use as the backing panel, coloured around the edge with Black Soot Distress Oxide ink using the direct to paper technique...
added an Idea-ology Holiday Talk sticker to the hanger, Idea-ology Linen Ribbon and a white Eclectic Elements thread bow.
