Simon Says - Inspired by an Artist

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because

and the theme for this week is...
INSPIRED BY AN ARTIST
I was inspired by the Life Is Beautiful Art Print by Banksy
to create my own using Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Lady Rose and Worn Text inked with Black Soot and Barn Door Distress Archival inks, the Bricked Layering Stencil to create a monoprint effect on the background and added Prima Flowers coloured with Barn Door Distress Spray Stain.

I trimmed Distress Watercolor card to 6" x 8", spritzed with water and Hickory Smoke Distress Spray Stain.
I stamped the images and letters from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Lady Rose and Worn Text with Black Soot and Barn Door Distress Archival inks.
I spritzed Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Bricked Layering Stencil with Black Soot Distress Spray Stain, spritzed lightly with water, wiped the excess stain off the stencil edges
and pressed the stencil randomly on to the background to create a monoprint effect
I stamped the rest of the title, added drips at the bottom of the letters using Black Soot Distress Paint with a small brush and added splatters of Barn Door Distress Paint.
I spritzed cream coloured Prima flowers from my stash with Barn Door Distress Spray Stain
and fixed to the panel with Distress Collage Medium Matte
To finish I matted the panel on to Sizzix Mat Board trimmed to 10" x 8" and painted with Black Soot Distress Paint.

Simon Says - Frame It

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because

and the theme for this week is...
FRAME IT
I used Tim Holtz/Sizzix Funky Floral Large and Alphanumeric Shadow Lower Thinlits for my Hello Friend Slimline card and added Idea-ology Entomology Collage Paper circle frames to the background die-cut with Tim Holtz/Sizzix Stacked Tiles Circle Thinlits.

I selected two tags from my backgrounds box, created by applying Ranger Texture Paste through the Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Bouquet and Flourish Layering Stencils and sprayed with Seedless Preserves. Fossilized Amber, Broken China and Shabby Shutters Distress Spray Stains.
I die-cut the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Large Floral Thinlits from the tags and black card from the Tim Holtz Idea-ology Neutrals KraftStock pack.
I covered white card with Idea-ology Entomology Collage Paper and used Tim Holtz Stacked Tiles Circle Thinlits to create the circle frames. If you don't have these, any nesting circle dies will do (see link below)
I trimmed black card from the Neutral KraftStock Stack to 3" x 8", added a torn strip of the Entomology Collage Paper and the sentiment die-cut using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Alphanumeric Shadow Lower Thinlits.
I fixed the circle frames and the flowers and leaves in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte and 3D foam pads to add extra dimension
I fixed an extra circle frame and the inner section in place and added an Idea-ology Sentiments Label Sticker to complete the sentiment.
To finish I matted the panel on to a 3.1/4" x 8.1/4" White Slimline card.

What a week that was...

Hi my friends, I'm sneaking in with an end of the week post and what a week it's been. It all kicked off on Tuesday afternoon when out of the blue, I couldn't access my e-mails. No-one knows what goes on inside those packages of technology that we all rely on so much and despite 3 days of doing this, that and the other to try to restore my communications with the outside world, I lost the battle when my laptop went into black screen mode showing the error message - critical process died. Fed up of faffing around, it was time to package him up for his final journey to the skip at the recycle centre and find a replacement. So with communications now restored, I decided to use two of the Alcohol Ink backgrounds I made following the Tim Holtz YouTube Live last Saturday and created 2 cards with "note to self" encouraging words. When life or technology kicks you in the teeth, all we can do is pick ourselves up, smile and do our best.

I began by creating two backgrounds on 5" x 7" panels of Distress White Yupo using Moss and Mushroom Alcohol inks and Mined Alloy,
and Dijon, Mermaid and Cobalt Alcohol inks
I inked the largest image from Simon Says Dandelion Messages with Versamark ink, stamped on to both panels and heat embossed with Simon Says Fine Detail White Embossing Powder. Yupo is a plastic substrate so it's important to keep your heat tool moving and not overheat to prevent warping.

I coloured the back of Tim Holtz Ideaology Transparent Wings with Dijon Alcohol Ink and fixed to scraps of Yupo and trimmed.
I fixed Tim Holtz Ideaology Velvet Trim across the bottom of the panel and fixed the Transparent Wings in place, adding adhesive only to the centres to create dimension.

I added an Idea-ology Transparent Wing to the edge of the panel and another to a scrap of Yupo and fussy cut.
I trimmed both panels to 4.1/4" x 6.1/4", matted on to Simon Says Black cardstock trimmed to be slighty larger, fixed to 4.1/2" x 6.1/2" White card blanks and added Tim Holtz Idea-ology Sentiments Label Stickers.

Have a great weekend whatever your plans are and happy crafting.

Simon Says - Four Legged Friends

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because

and the theme for this week is...
FOUR LEGGED FRIENDS
I created a page in my Dina Wakley Blue Edition Media Journal inspired by cats who have the ability to nap at the drop of a hat. I used my favourite cat from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Halloween Snarky Cats and Crate, Gradient Dot and Bricked Layering Stencils to add interest and texture in the background. I added a hat from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Distinquished and used Tim Holtz/Sizzix Alphanumeric Classic Lower and Bold Thinlits with Idea-ology Snarky Small Talk Stickers for the title.

I trimmed Distress Watercolor card to 5" x 7" and coloured by smooshing the Custom Ink Pad (Antique Linen/Old Paper Distress Ink and Speckled Egg/Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide re-inkers) on to the craft mat on my Glass Media Mat. I applied Distress Crackle Texture Paste through Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Bricked Layering Stencil and set aside to dry. I used the Crate and Gradient Dots Layering Stencils with Salvaged Patina and Crackling Campfire Distress Oxide inks to add colour to the background and randomly stamped the Rings background from Halftone and Rings inked with Black Soot Distress Archival.
I coloured the bricked areas with Walnut Stain Distress Crayon, rubbing the crayon into the texture with a slightly damp finger, add Speckled Egg, Crackling Campfire and Picket Fence Distress Crayon, sprinkled randomly with Speckled Egg and Crackling Campfire Embossing Glazes and heat set. I inked the cat image from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Halloween Snarky Cats with Black Soot Distress Archival and stamped directly on to the panel and on to a scrap of Distress Watercolor card, fussy cut and fixed to the panel with 3D foam.
I covered a chipboard speech bubble from my stash with a scrap to match the background and added the letters die-cut from Idea-ology Neutral KraftStock using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Alphanumeric Bold Thinlits.
I stamped the hat from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Distinguished inked with Vintage Photo Distress Archival on to a scrap of Distress Watercolor card, coloured with Walnut Stain and Crackling Campfire Distress inks using a Distress Detailer Brush and die-cut using the matching set of  Sizzix Framelits which were a one and done release and if you don't have them, the hat is easy to fussy cut. To complete the title I die-cut Alphanumeric Classic Lower Thinlits from Neutral KraftStock and Distress Watercolor card, layered to create dimension and added Idea-ology Snarky Small Talk Stickers.
I coloured the cat using Crackling Campfire and Salvaged Patina Distress inks and added Glossy Accents to the eyes and nose.
