Vintage Valentine

Hello my friends, I'm sharing a Vintage Valentine card I made using the Pinnacle Hearts Embossing Folder, Distressed Vintage Love Notes 6" x 8" stamp set and Tim Holtz/Idea-ology Palette Ephemera from the Simon Says February Card Kit along with the Lace Heart Wafer dies from a previous release.

trimmed one of the Simon Says Schoolhouse Red card blanks included in the kit to 4" x 5.1/4" and ran through my die-cutting machine with the Pinnacle Hearts Embossing Folder.
I flipped the panel over to the debossed side, dragged Simon Says White Pigment Ink pad over the surface and dried.
I inked the music image from the Distressed Vintage Love Notes stamp set with the Versafine Clair Nocturne ink pad, also included in the kit, held the stamp in my hand and stamped randomly over the panel to add a little detail to the background.
I used Simon Says Lace Heart dies to create a frame, cut from Distress Mixed Media HeavyStock and inked the edges with Scorched Timber Distress Ink using a Tiny Blending Tool.
I chose a selection of red ephemera pieces from Tim Holtz/Idea-ology Palette Ephemera pack and inked the edges with Scorched Timber Distress Ink using a Tiny Blending Tool. I trimmed the hearts playing card ephemera and fixed behind the frame. I attached the frame to the panel with Distress Collage Medium and stamped the sentiment from the stamp set, inked with Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink.
I left the sentiment stamp in the same place on the lid of my stamping platform, fixed the tag from the Ephemera pack in place over the frame, inked the sentiment stamp and restamped.
I added the rest of the ephemera pieces and stamped the postmark and handwriting images from the Distressed Vintage Love Notes stamp set, inked with Versafine Clair Nocturne and Lumberjack Plaid Distress Oxide inks. I fussy cut the hearts from the left over ephemera playing card and fixed to the panel with Simon Says Black 3D foam squares, also included in the kit.
I added a drop of Gilded Foundry Wax to my glass media mat, thinned with a spritz of rubbing alcohol, added splatters to the panel and heat set. I dragged the Versafine Clair Nocturne ink pad around the edges of the panel.
I added a White Hemp Twine bow to the top of the tag and Glossy Accents to the hearts.
To finish I matted the panel on to one of the Simon Says Schoolhouse Red A2 card blanks included in the kit.

Simon Says - February 2025 Card Kit

Hello my friends, I was super excited when Simon Says Stamp launched their February 2025 Card Kit, Distressed Vintage Notes, a "right up my street" card kit, filled to the brim with lots of goodies and I couldn't wait for it to arrive in the cubbyhole. The kit is still available to purchase or if you wish, you can buy individual items from the kit HERE.

I created a card using the beautiful Distressed Vintage Love Notes 6" x 8" stamp set, the Distress Watercolor Pencils and the bumper pack of Tim Holtz/Idea-ology Palette Ephemera included in the kit.
I trimmed Distress Watercolor card to 4" x 5.1/4", scribbled the Wilted Violet Distress Watercolor Pencil on to my craft mat, spritzed with water and used a large paintbrush to create a soft wash background. I dipped the Wilted Violet and Shabby Shutters Watercolor Pencils into a pot of water, scribbled over the music, flower flourish and butterfly images from the Distress Vintage Love Notes stamp set, stamped on to the background and dried to create a watercolor stamped effect on the panel.
I chose a selection of purple pieces from Tim Holtz/Idea-ology Palette Ephemera and inked the edges with Scorched Timber Distress Ink using a Tiny Blending Tool. I laid the floral panel on the background temporarily and re-stamped the butterflies to overlap the panel, inked with Scorched Timber Distress Ink. I fixed the floral panel and frame in place with Distress Collage Medium, also included in the kit.
I stamped the postmark images inked with Wilted Violet Distress Oxide ink and Scorched Timber Distress Ink.
I stamped the sentiment, inked with Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink, also included in the kit.
I fixed the other pieces of Palette Ephemera in place with Distress Collage Medium.
To finish I inked around the edges of the panel with Scorched Timber Distress Ink using a Tiny Blending Tool and fixed to an A2 white card blank.

I'll be back soon to share more makes with this fabulous card kit and in the meantime, you have fun with whatever you are making.

True Love Paper Mosaic

Hello my friends, I was so inspired after watching the Tim Holtz Valentine Demo and Ideas YouTube Live on Saturday that I dug into my stash to make a card with a technique from way back in the day called Paper Mosaic using Tim Holtz/Sizzix True Love Colorize and Stacked Hearts Thinlits, Idea-ology Large Collage Strips and sentiments from the Idea-ology Metallic Sticker Book. If you missed the Live you can rewatch it HERE on Tim's YouTube Channel.

I die-cut two hearts from Distress Watercolor card using Tim Holtz/Sizzix True Love Colorize Thinlits, covered one with Distress Grit Paste Opaque and set aside the other to use as a template.
I die-cut hearts from Tim Holtz/Idea-ology Large Collage Strips using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Stacked Hearts Thinlits and placed temporarily on the blank heart to use as a reference.
Once the Distress Grit Paste had dried, I fixed the hearts from the template in place with Distress Collage Medium and applied a further coat over the top.
I fixed the blank heart behind to make a sturdier and more dimensional heart, applied Ranger Glossy Accents to each of the paper hearts and set aside to dry.
In the meantime, I trimmed Distress Watercolor card to 4" x 5.1/4", smooshed Picked Raspberry, Seedless Preserves and Kitsch Flamingo Distress Oxides on to my craft mat, spritzed with water, tapped the panel into the inks repeatedly, drying between layers, until I was happy with the coverage.
I inked the Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Floral Outlines image with Scorched Timber Distress Ink and holding the stamp in my hand, stamped randomly on the edges of the panel. I inked the edges with the same ink using a Tiny Blending Tool and tattered the edges using Tim Holtz Paper Distresser.
I used my Crop-A-Dile to punch a hole in the top of the hearts, threaded with Seam Binding Ribbon and added a White Hemp Twine Bow. I fixed the die-cut heart outline in place with Distress Collage Medium and added the paper mosaic heart popped up on Simon Says Stamp 3D foam squares to create dimension.
To finish I matted the panel on to an A2 white card blank and added sentiments from Tim Holtz/Idea-ology Metallic Stickers Book.

Have fun with whatever you're making

Simon Says - Have A Heart

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because

and the theme for this week is...
HAVE A HEART
I used Simon Says Tucked Hearts 6" x 6" stamp set to create the background, Tim Holtz Idea-ology Palette Ephemera and sentiments from Simon Says Always and Forever 6" x 8" stamp set to make a vintage inspired Valentine card, decorated with a Tim Holtz/Idea-ology Word Key, Lawn Fawn White Hemp Twine and Trinity Stamps Creamy Vanilla Heart Sprinkles.
I inked Simon Says Tucked Hearts stamp set from the Be Loved release with Versarmark ink, stamped on to an A2 panel of Distress Watercolor card, sprinkled with White Detail Embossing Powder and heat set. I smooshed Lumberjack Plaid and Barn Door Distress Oxide ink pads on to my craft mat, spritzed with water, dragged through the inks and dried. I repeatedly tapped the panel back into the ink droplets until I was happy with the coverage, dried and remove any ink from the embossing with a dry cloth.
I inked around the edges of the ephemera from the Tim Holtz/Idea-ology Palette Ephemera pack included in Simon Says February Card Kit with Scorched Timber Distress Ink and fixed to the panel with Distress Collage Medium.
I inked the sentiments from Simon Says Always and Forever stamp set from the Be Loved release with Versafine Clair Nocturne ink, stamped on to Tim Holtz/Idea-ology Plain Collage Paper, sprinkled with Ranger Black Embossing Powder and heat set.
I traced around the sentiments with a wet paint brush, teased them apart with my finger and fixed in place with Distress Collage Medium. I trimmed the panel to 3.3/4" x 5" and inked around the edges with Scorched Timber Distress Ink using a Tiny Blending Tool.
I applied Distress Texture Paste Opaque Crackle through Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Hearts Stencil and once dry, applied Gilded Foundry Wax lightly on the edges of the panel, ephemera and stencilled hearts using my finger, heat set and fixed to a 3" x 5.1/4" panel of Distress Black HeavyStock. I coloured a Tim Holtz/Idea-ology Word Key with Foundry Wax, Walnut Stain and Broken China Distress Embossing Glazes, heat set added a Lawn Fawn white hemp twine bow and fixed in place with Distress Collage Medium.
To finish I matted the panel on to an A2 white card blank and added Trinity Stamps Creamy Vanilla Heart Sprinkles.
