all that cutting in stuck up a ladder jammed between cupboards and ceiling with your neck at a jaunty angle trying to get a straight line between wall and ceiling is not my idea of a fun pastime and would have been nigh near impossible without the help of the fabulous brushes from Claudine Hellmuth...probably not what she had in mind when she designed them but they worked a treat.
Still lots of little bits and bobs jobs to do before the arrival of the lovely joiner lad at the beginning of June...new doors...frames...skirting boards and flooring are being delivered on Friday...where I'm going to store them is anybody's guess...the cubbyhole may well be turned into a temporary Builders Merchant yard...at least the chef's happy to have little pockets of kitchen that are useable again...
but it's confession time...why go at things half-hearted when you can go the whole hog...oh yes in a moment of unprecented wisdom...I decided it would be a good idea to continue the flooring through to the little hallway and family room replacing skirting boards and doors there too...makes sense to me to get all the messy jobs over in one go instead of hubby's idea of leaving it until later in the year so guess who won the day which means I'm back in painting mode again...
more step ladder...emulsion and roller adventures...not forgetting my favourite pastime...cutting in but I can definitely see light at the end of this very long tunnel...whether this knackered old body will make it out the other end is a whole other question.
And there are other pressing things to worry about...what on earth is going on with the weather...we've had all seasons this week...yesterday was baking wall to wall sunshine...hailstones and winds of the brass monkey variety a few days ago...the central heating's been off on and off again and right at the beginning of the week...snow was falling only 30 odd miles from where I live...
who knows what today will bring but it's time to get back to the paint job and hey if I get a spurt on I might well be scooting off the cubbyhole for a little crafty playtime...see you all tomorrow.

I have let my husband believe he is the only one who can do the cutting in when we paint!! I am a roller gal!! Looks lovely!!
ReplyDeleteYou've certainly got your hands full Kath! Good luck with the interior design! Susan x
ReplyDeleteWow Kath you certainly dot do things by halves, looking great Hun xx
ReplyDeleteWow, love those male cards yesterday, exactly the type f card I love. You are a glutton for punishment. I am rubbish at painting so hubby does it all so he would not have been chuffed if I had the same idea. hubby says he hopes Buddy is steering clear of all this and not getting any paint on him x
ReplyDeleteLoads of work but wise decision to tackle the whole thing while you're in the middle of all that paintwork Kath! I'm nevertheless impressed how you manage it all and still show us one gorgeous piece of art after the other!!!!

well Kath - you certainly are very brave - I can't believe you've opted for more DIY! Bless you - I know it makes sense but I just wouldn't have had the heart! Good for you xx
ReplyDeleteLove the kitchen colour ... so light and fresh.
ReplyDeleteSnap with the Kitchen wall colours Kath. I love mine. Good luck with the rest of the make over. /carolxx
ReplyDeleteStarting to look good!! I can also see why you want it to be over and done with in a oner.... great use of those CH brushes! Made me chuckle... and the weather, yep, I know what you are talking about.....
ReplyDeleteI am glad to see that we are not the only ones with weird weather at the moment. Here in Canada, we had summer at the beginning of May, rain over the past week and yesterday we had snow. Don't remember ever having snow on May 25th.
ReplyDeleteGosh Kath I'm exhausted just reading about your life - you certainly are one very productive lady. Makes sense of course to get all the DIY over with in one go....
ReplyDelete(more crafty time later on)
Enjoy!

ReplyDeleteHi Kath, I totally agree, get it all done at once. We were nearly finished our conversion work when I said - do you think we should have all the windows replaced whilst they are doing the new ones? We did and I am now so very glad! Keep up the good work, I am admiring you from afar...... Hugs, Anne x

ReplyDeleteWhat a glutton for punishment! I'm kind of glad that we don't decorate very often, but it does make sense to get it all done in a oner. Just back from a lovely relaxing weekend in Achnahaird with some friends and straight into the garden for me. Love the last three days blogs and projects. Take care
