and the theme for this week is...
MAKE A RAINBOW
it's the first challenge of a new month and as always the Design Team are showcasing one particular designer and woohoo I'm super duper excited that we are featuring Tim Holtz products and also welcoming the fabulously talented Amy Bethke as our Guest Designer for April.
I made a card featuring a rainbow background created with the brand new Distress Oxide inks and the sentiment says it all. Tim is my hero...my inspiration and has certainly coloured my world with all the fabulous innovative products he has brought to market over the years...
I remember the colours of the rainbow with the rhyme...
Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain
Red,Orange,Yellow,Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet so I used...
Fired Brick, Spiced Marmalade, Fossilized Amber, Peeled Paint,
Faded Jeans, a mix of Broken China and Wilted Violet for the Indigo and Wilted Violet
Starting at the top of a piece of Ranger Watercolor Card...I masked off each section with paper, applied the colour with a blending tool, spritzed with water while the paper was still in place because I didn't want the colours merging together and dried each section before moving on to the next.
But it was looking a little bright and vibrant for the Tim Holtz look so I used the stamp from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Birch and Pine inked with Walnut Stain Distress Oxide to create a little bit of grungy background interest...
and then applied Black Soot Distress ink through the Splatters Layering Stencil with a blending tool...
I used Sizzix Thinlits Scribbles and Splat to die cut splats from white cardstock...
and Sizzix Thinlits Wildflowers 2 cut from black cardstock...
fixed them in place with Ranger Medium Matte and added 3D foam pads to the top layer of flowers to create dimension. I also added the left over dots from the Splat die cuts held in place with a dot of Glossy Accents.
I added Idea-ology Design Tape Chatter and used Quotations Metallic/Label Letters and white alphabet stickers from my stash to create the sentiment...and finished off with a strip of Idea-ology Crinkle Ribbon coloured with Mustard Seed Reinker and added a double bow topped off with a twine bow.
Why don't you pop over to the Monday Challenge Blog and check out the amazing creations from my very talented Design Team mates and our Guest Designer...as always you all have the chance to win a $50 gift voucher to spend at Simon Says Stamp.
