Hi folks, the month long 10th STAMPtember celebration of stamps, dies, stencils and more has begun over at Simon Says Stamp and you're invited to join in the fun.

Throughout STAMPtember, Simon Says Stamp will be celebrating everyday, posting excusive collaborations, contests, prizes, special promotions, announcements and even more surprises on the Simon Says Stamp Blog. To get the party started, there's a special STAMPtember BLOG PARTY  today over on Simon's Blog, so why don't you click HERE and pop over to see lots of inspiration using the new products. You will also find a promotional code on each blog participating in the party to receive a free gift with any purchase and you can check out all the fabulous new products from the STAMPtember releases HERE.

Simon Says sent me the Thinking Of You Heart die from the STAMPtember release to play with and because the die cuts out, a solid heart or an aperture and also the beautiful script wording inlay, it was perfect for creating a shaker card.

I started off by trimming Distress Watercolor card to 4" x 5.1/4" and fixed a Tim Holtz/Sizzix Sticky Grid Sheet on my Stamping Platform. This will hold the card in place without using the magnets which is perfect when using a big background stamp. I inked Simon Says Stamp Rose Lattice Background with Versamark and heat embossed with Ranger Superfine White Embossing Powder.  I saturated the card with water and dropped in Picked Raspberry and Dusty Concord Distress Oxide inks. I dried, repeated until I was happy with the background and buffed any excess ink off the embossing using a clean cloth. I die-cut an aperture from the panel using Simon Says Stamp Thinking Of You Heart die.
I coloured the centre section of a white A2 panel with Dusty Concord Distress Oxide ink and marked lightly around the aperture with a pencil.
Using the pencil marks as a guide, I fixed 3D foam tape around the heart shape and added a selection of sequins.
I fixed acetate to the back of the embossed panel and fixed the word inlay, die-cut from white card, on the acetate with Distress Collage Medium Matte. I used a Sharpie Black pen to add faux stitching and added a black twine bow.

I added extra sequins, fixed the panel over the shaker panel and matted on to an A2 Black card blank.
BUT
there was that left over die-cut embossed heart that was too good to throw away, so I decided to make another card

I trimmed Distress Watercolor card to create a 3.3/4" x 5" panel and coloured with Picked Raspberry and Wilted Violet Distress Oxide inks using the watercolour smooshing technique which is basically picking up the inks spritzed with water on to a piece of plastic and transferring it to the card, drying between layers until you achieve the result you want.
I fixed the left over Thinking Of You Heart die-cut in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte and added three layers of the white word inlay die.
I trimmed the word "Always" from an Idea-ology Big Talk Snarky Sticker and fixed in place with Tim Holtz/Sizzix Mini Foam Adhesive.
added Shimmering Ice Fusion sequins for a touch of sparkle
and matted the panel on to a side folding A2 Black card blank.
Hugs Kath xxx

  7. I love the loose style of watercolour &/or the watercolour look. Pretty, feminine cards, both of them. This is my first time to your blog & let me just say I am so sorry to see you lost Buddy in July. Goldens are just the best dogs & we now have a 10 yr. old English Cream Retriever, who is a golden, just more cream coloured. Best dog we've ever had.

  9. Lovely cards. Shakers are always great and the second card is fantastic with the ink smoothing. Great idea for a second card.
